M1A2 is a fine tank but the truth of any MBT in the world under 1000 meters in combat even the cheap Iraqi T72's will penetrate and destroy it.

Personally im a big fan of the T80UM12 MBT it can out range any competitor and has AT missile systems capable of firing and hitting with high accuracy at 5000 meters.

Also that missile system can hit slower flying targets like an A10 are an AH 64 Apache.

I hope we never have to see the M1A2 in Iran the T84 is no joke very similar to the Abrams.

@Chepoque first of all.you are wrong.The T-90 is nothing more than an upgraded T-72, renamed after the mauling the 72 received in Desert Storm. It is wholly inferior to the Abrams (and the Leo, Challenger, Merkava) in armor protection, firepower, electronics, and speed/acceleration.

It was inferior in every aspect. The Russian T-90 is a very capable tank, especially when considering it uses an ATGM that has a 5 km range.

@hotpocketpoison I don't know about that. I have never heard of regular M1's being in DS. Also, all M1A1's were upgraded to M1A1HA, M1A1HC, M1A1D, M1A1AIM v1/2, M1A1FEP, and M1A2's were upgraded to M1A2SEP.

It's a good tank but cannot fire the LAHAT. It's targeting system lacks the range.

The fact that it cannot fire LAHAT has NOTHING to do with it's targeting system.

The M1A2SEP has the most advanced fire control system of any production tank.

The FCS is fully able to take that sort of range, it's just the gun itself hasn't been designed or rebuilt for it yet, although this is expected in the M1A3.

@franknbeans4761 its targeting system has better range than the Merkava. and if the Merkava can fire the LAHAT than the M1A2 can as well,the LAHAT was designed to be fired from any 105 or 120mm gun. also the M1s saw limited service in DS but did participate,and racked up several T-72 kills(not nearly as many as the M1A1 but still survived hits and penetrated the T-72s it encountered). also the HA,HC,D,AIM,and FEP did not see combat,they were testbeds for future abrams,and the M1A2 was not in DS.

@Chepoque unless Pakistan some how gets an M1A2 these two tanks wont face each other, by the time US tanks face Russian tanks the US will be using something totaly different and Russia will have the T-95. The US currently uses one of the most powerful guns in the world, the 52cal 120mm, second it uses DU and Chobham armor, thrid (but probaly first) the US has highly trained crews and some of the best elecronics to assist them.

Ok the T-90 has the most advanced ERA in the world, an anti missle system and electronics equivilent to the origonal M1(remeber the US uses for more advanced stuff) The problam which kills the T-90s is the poor quality of the gun(Russian manufacturing is inifior to the US) that means less propelent and thus a lower velocity, and second is the Autoloader, well how t is arragned in the tank with live ammo in the crew area.

recently declassified this tank has depleted uranium armor which in places is a foot thick (1 in of depleted uranium is the same of 18 in of battleship armor) the us bought a copy of challenger tank armor from england.Thats right it also has a titanium ceramic armor IDENTICLE to the challengers. The depleted uranium is encased in rolled homagonus armor. THe abrams also can go 268 miles on its 400 gallon gas tank with 60 mph and 1500hp. It is the world first fully digital tank w/ a supercomputer.
