@mightyPants Hate to say I agree w/ you about the Kevin Bacon not needing a helmet, but he doesn't. But only because that is what got me in major trouble in my March 1985 bike accident with a hit and run driver when I was 21, I wasn't wearing a helmet. Yes, I'm still alive today, but doctor's were majorly surprised I didn't fall into a permanent coma, and also I have that permanent scar on my forehead just above my eyebrows. If this movie was remade today, the characters would wear a helmet.

@kayodic Agreed. Although at time I watched this moviie back in 1986 at theatre I was trying to learn how to drive, yet again (when I was 22 ), went to watch it on my 1980 Trek 730 bike. I was already huge fan of Kevin Bacon, although I didn't see "Diner" or "Footloose" until they came out on video, I became more of a fan of Bacon & of course, Fishburne because of this movie -- because it was out a bit more than year after my major March 1985 bike accident curtesy of a hit & run driver.

There are several obvious screw-ups in this movie (good flick though). What you say is true; they used several bikes. Look for the hand brake lever at the begining of this race---ha! You never see any handbrake on his bike again. Also, when he tries to follow gypsy, his clothes change!
