  • Gerontologists, those scientists who study aging, have been trying to unravel the mysteries of aging.Aside from normal wear and tear, they have identifiied three primary mechanisms, one genetec and two chemical, that lead to the body's breakdown.

  • i hope they find a cure for death because i wanna be forever young... i want to be forever young...if u really want to be forever... forever young =B

  • Fuck that means those evil corupt politician will live much longer

  • I love how much people don't actually know.

  • @Marcowilliam You are a pretentious ass.

  • @CryInTheAttic What makes you say that?

  • From the little I know: telomerase inhibitors could treat cancer while you have it but while you don't have cancer, telomerase activators can protect healthy cells.

  • @god0fgod telomerase allows cells to divide indefinitely so i'd suspect it would increase the chances of cancer. Cancer cells have turned telomerase on.

  • like all the people comenting "they are playing god" think you will soon find there not fuckin playin

  • thumbs up if your a kid

  • Find a cure for cancer first you dumb scientists. Ya lets keep someone alive with diabetes and cancer arthritis lmao dumb people playing Jesus

  • @milkbone11111 There are already proven cures but they strike the doctors off, put them in prison, kill them or all of the above.

  • @milkbone11111

Science doesn't work like that. And just because there are scientist working in multiple fields takes nothing away from the research being done in another field. Plus there's already a possible cure or great advance in fighting cancer tyt has done a video on that as well.

  • This show suckssss Asssss!

  • I think doing what they are doing is wrong, they are playing god.

  • @ihateme124 well we have done that for a very long time ....killing human in wars ...you never think of that ....no!!!

  • Enzyme telomerase

  • yea invade mongolia. That is what Genghiz khan did to us.

  • tumbes up if as soon as you saw it was the young turks you were like 'get offfff my scrrrrreeeeen!!!'

  • @legendsOFnovember You get no thumbs.

  • There's not yet a downside to anti-aging resveratrol + polyphenols (that make anti-aging liquid 10X more powerful than resveratrol alone) - and lots of anti-aging benefit

yourhealthwebsite (dot) net -search for Vivix

  • this man is useless

  • "...studies, they've done it on MICE..." not "my skin" ! (subtitle 1:43)

  • @baum7des7lebens7 hääh? - What's up with the 1bn mistakes in the cc (fail or intention?) not funny...

  • @baum7des7lebens7 They didn't make those captions, it's youtube's transcribe audio.

  • @MasterOfMist Man vs. maschine - maschine lost this time : )

  • @baum7des7lebens7 Machine

  • Jounalist in training..and did you really lok up the pronouniation??

  • Telomerase can and could be an oncogene or carcinogen if it extends every DNA go figure..... not a rocket science....do you guys honestly belive snake oil salesmen who wear labcoats to be doctors in eahc of these videos ? I do not see them on the boards anywhere where cancer is debated....have never seen their names in any reputable magazine. Simply we need more info on telomerase. If it extends DNA then it extends the harmful and mutated cells eventually too regardless as to what they say.

  • It's hard to take 'it causes cancer' truthfully anymore, I remember people saying Mr.Clean Magic Erasers caused cancer, and also electric transformers on power poles( grey cylinder Thingy on telephone poles)

  • Soo, could decreasing the enzyme in your body decrease the cancer risk?

  • I just wasted three minutes of my life

  • This is true that it helps sustain DNA but cancer cells also use this enzyme. So if you use it on a regular cell, it could possibly turn into a cancer cell. And that's why it's also very risky to tamper with DNA.

  • wow it's amazing all these breakthroughs with aging that are happening I recently uploaded a video about products that actually heal DNA file:///C:/Users/User/Downloads/jeunessevideo.htm

  • this is the same thing that happen before the flood

  • This is incredible however if we do ever come to achieving eternal life there will still be the downside of overpopulation and the only way we could eliminate this factor by moving to another hospitable planet, We will not have achieved a speed to get there within the next thousand years. By this i am not stating that i wouldn't love to be immortal, just implying a major problem that would occur through it.

  • @clancyist First step to solve that problem would be for all that gets to be immortal to have no kids and the rest only one and of course the last one we probably have to do anyways even if we dont find a way to live forever

  • So you're saying we found the fountain of youth? BTW, I love Cenk's saying Jeez n' Lord Mercy.... Awesome

  • Comment removed

  • @MadowStone

You also lost in them, both of them.

  • You're still going to die no matter what you take you're going to die anyways so what's the point

  • @iSkate7104 The point is to live as long as possible at least for me i have been incredible lucky to be where i am now and what happends when you die is that you wake up as a newborn human, animals or any other creature in the universe and that scares me because it could be worse than the life i have now i mean would you like to wake up as a baby in somalia? or there is probably species on other planets with even worse life out there you could end up in so just stay here as long as possible!

  • @boxingisbest What are you talking about? Are you trying to suggest that when we die we are reincarnated? There is no reason to believe that anything happens to you when you die except maybe getting eaten by worms. I think nonexistence (despite how irrational it may be to fear) is probably the most terrifying aspect.

  • @Cookiecrum1992 Thats the brilliant part i have figured it out! you and i and every living creature in this universe is the same person/soul we just have different bodies and brains! thats why when you die you will wake up as you just did from what seems to be nothing into a newborn something and yes sadly your body will never exist again, the things you did in this life will no one ever see again, but the bright side is that we are all the same and we will live again in a different body

  • @boxingisbest

I just hope that if I die that my next life is not something stupid. Imagine my reincarnation as a fly. I live a pathetic life for 24 hours before I croak and I am seen as a pest by everyone. The only type of species I wanna be if I reincarnate is a human being.

  • @jmario232 Yeah for instance i have always killed flies when i got the chance to because i know im doing them a favor lol

  • ...filled with telomeraze? lolwut? We can extract a compound called astragaloside, either the II variant of IV variant, which can be used to make a compound called TA-65, which STIMULATES telomeraze production. IT DOESN'T CONTAIN TELOMERAZE!

  • she is thick

  • ok sure what they r saying is this is how u r cheating death and god we live and die NEVER CHEAT DEATH AND GOD

ps im not that reglious eather

  • @espada4death When people get a pacemaker they are cheating death, when people get medicines for aids they cheat death, when doctors do any surgery to save someones life they are cheating death so basically for thousands of years humans have cheated GOD

  • I like the moderator. He is sounds more intelligent than the typical american.

  • soo if 1 person is born every 3 seconds and no on is dying........fuck

  • @Madowstone lol

  • @slyfox3333 if you think everyone being immortal is somehow undesirable or unsustainable you are mistaken. the answer is easy, space colonization.

  • @cyberpsygen7 We dont have that technology at this time...

  • @slyfox3333 the technology to colonize space or the technology to make everyone immortal? which one do you think we couldn't do right now? i think you are either misinformed about our level of technology or you meant to say determination, resources, or cooperation instead.

  • anti-aging cure? like aging is a disease...

  • Death accounts from people saying you are "erased" scare me. I do not want to be trapped in a void where there is nothing but pitch black for all eternity. We must spread the word that death is preventable to the public and everyone viewing these videos can contribute. Tell your friends, your family, fellow workers. Encourage them to donate to these causes such as SENS. It is a possiblity. The more people know the faster we shall achieve.

  • @jmario232 prolong life as you will, I hope you realize it doesn't matter if you live a million, a billion or more so years death will come eventually... nothing is infinite, nothing.

  • @toogood75

You do have a point in the fact that even if aging is cured you may die in other ways such as getting shot or something like that but safety precautions can usualy be made to prevent accidental deaths. Age is the big elephant in the room so to speak that we cannot control but if we do cure it we can save millions of lives each day which is why I support research towards finding a cure for it.

  • @toogood75

Are you a supporter of the Big Crush Theory in which the universe expands to a certain point and then contracts to a point where it implodes? Just curious because you are saying everything has an end and that death will come eventually even if you have indefinite lifespan. I feel though that in a thousand year span we may develop high tech equipment in weaponry creating the possibility of discovering new universes to escape universal collapse if the Big Crush is real.

  • And how should the generations before us feel?

  • Oh my.... the girl should really learn some molecular biology...... she is really really pathetic... an just for the record thats really not how telomerase works... it does not make you younger.....

  • all i want is live forever or go to heaven i would hate to be recarnated because im not me lol

  • Its ironic to see that after hundreds of years of people trying to regain their youth, from searching for the 'fountain of youth', to getting plastic surgery, the one thing you needed was allready right under/in/and part of your nose :)

  • Telomerase activation does not "cause" cancer....When you are a newborn, telomerase is switched on throughout your body, and no cancer.

Chalk up another batch of misinformation from TYT,

  • @RawChristianSuperman its not misinformation on purpose, more like misunderstanding.

  • my 18 year old brother took a dose of this enzyme and HE TURNED INTO A BABY!!!!

  • I am studying to become a biologist and i wanna concentrate all my future efforts on telomerase. I dont wanna be eternal, but i wanna live at least a couple of centuries, to see how humanity will progress. ;D

  • the lady obviously has no experience in biology whatsoever =/

  • Guys, ready your breakfast and eat well, for tonight we invade MONGOLIA!!!!!!!!

  • "Some believe religious organizations will terrorize it and hold back its progress much more than Stem Cell Research."

    ?????

  • be glad youre in generation experiment, better than the past 7500 generations of humans

  • @trentWHY It depends on your age and how successful the testing is. Some people like Aubrey De Grey think that people under 50 may get the benefits of it because technology keeps doubling every 1 to 2 years. Anyone under 40 has a better chance. Some think in just a couple of decades these treatments can be available. But others like Michio Kaku (64yrs old) are not so optimistic. Some believe religious organizations will terrorize it and hold back its progress much more than Stem Cell Research.

  • humans already live too long

  • @obamasucksdick99 your stupid your probably a damn Muslim or fag if you think we live too long go kill your self.

  • @obamasucksdick99

that's why we have to nuke them all., Allah ahbar!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, she just said everything ass backwards.

  • I did an essay on that last year. its about CELL aging not human aging. Unfortunately it gives you cancer to not have your cells age. Other causes of aging exist. Knockout mice for the win. I bet conservatives will hate it as "unnatural." We need a cure for cancer first. There's a reason for homeostasis for telomerase.

  • A company named BioTime did this two years ago.

Aging will be a thing of the past in about 5 - 7 years.

  • Incredible...

  • @trentWHY Nop.

  • @trentWHY And thats what you would say if I said that you'd say all the things you said in your first comment to you if we lived in the stone ages :P

  • @trentWHY You would say exactly the same thing about being born today if you where born in 3000 and I told you about people's life spawn in the 2000s.

  • @trentWHY Could be worse! In the stone ages our average life was 20 years :P

  • I need to stop posting comments before finishing the video......bad habit...

  • continued telomerase is an enzyme that increases telomere length, that does NOT occur naturally in humans and in general in advanced animals; you what kinds of cells in these animals do express telomerase? cancer cells; which makes sense since cancer cells multiply indefinitely; I am not saying however that telomerase leads to cancer: I'm saying telomeres, while interesting to study, are a complicated field in biology and in no way is it as simple as 'add telomerase ' and ' voila: youth"

  • @bbphnix Thanks for clearing things up! I hate these things making wild claims about stuff.

  • @bbphnix

it occurs in the germ cells doesn't it? Cancer is a multi step process with the regulatory mechanisms being swirched off, telomerase switches one or two off but there's about 6 of them. It would increase cancer rates though it doesn't exactly cause it. Other causes of aging (kidney nephrons break every so often we have a finite number, eyes keep growing throughout life hence long sightedness, bones getting brittle in latter life) would still exist. We need to tackle them all to end age

  • these people don't know what they're talking about; they did not do their research properly; they only looked up the sensationalist sutff;

I am a biology student and I have to say telomerase is NOT the key to immortality or youth; telomeres are pieces of DNA that act like clocks, they shorten with each division of the cell; of course, an older organism will have shorter telomeres than younger organisms... continued

  • Is there evidence having mortal cell lines makes multicellular organisms age? I think aging can be combated we've been doing that by tackling degenerative diseases, but its got lots of facets and no one cure. Knockout mice with telomerase live substantially longer from what I heard . not sure why.

  • is it that hard to pronounce telomerase?

  • If it is true I need it i look 36 but I am 19.

  • Side effects may include turning into a zombie. Bring it on.

  • @TubeSaki a side effect is cancer

  • i remember looking into telomere research in 1998 at OU.

  • @trentWHY hey its better than 40 years ago generation stupid

  • Science, IT WORKS BITCHES.

  • Check out PK-1000 anti aging on Google. This stuff works!!!!!!!!!

  • Southwestern Medical in Plano Texas has a hyper-concentrated from of a Telomerase activator its called PK-1000. 972-381-4220 This is amazing. It is not cheep and it does work. I'm 78 and my hair has grown back. My blood pressure is normal. All of my skin has completely changed it feels thicker. I do not bump myself ans start bleeding like I once did. My knees do not hurt anymore, and my eyesight has improved. All of this in less than a year. Thank you GOD

  • @miragemanager

science gives you your youth back, you praise god. In allcaps, of course.

  • :O that must be Keanu's secret!!!

  • HEY JACK ASS IT WORKS

  • the should have an exact amount of telemorase as we were as a child so we could have 2x life expan or less any more will cause cancer. That is my theory, every animal has a diffrent amount of telemorase for example dogs. Just study the amount of telemorase they begun with and just add a little of what they lost

    again its just my theory

  • im sensing a zombie outbreak people ^_^

  • @BHowardify Same thing i was thinking

  • @BHowardify

People are going are slower, not come back from the dead.

  • @sdrawkcabgnipytmi it was sarcasm :P dont take it so literal lol. i was making a joke that this is a set up for a zombie apocalypse :P

  • @BHowardify

I get enjoyment out of pretending to take jokes literally ;)

  • @DXSXDXSXD LOL. Tell that to the healthcare industry. These old fucks who dont die linger on and cost everyone else insane amounts of money. If its living longer with quality of life ok then good (i think, how much time do we really need on this earth). Either way its probably good as long as ppl cant genetically modify themselves to eliminate and character building attributes because then itll be a very boring world.

  • These people have no idea what they're talking about on the subject of telomeres...

  • @Lariasio Why should we value "the Earth" over ourselves? That's just weird.

  • @theguruofreason Well my opinion on the matter is if we continue to over populate and then stop people from dying and we consume the earth entirely we would be no better then a virus. Now don't get me wrong I didn't get to see how it all started but I would love to see how it ended look up into the sky and see the andramada galaxy looming over head I think it would be beautiful

  • @Lariasio A virus? And what are we infecting exactly, the Earth? How are we going to consume the Earth entirely? You realize that we're not even remotely close to doing that at all. Even if we were, it's a planet. There are plenty of class M planets. Why should we care more about the Earth than ourselves? Anyway, the planet will survive even if we nuke the entire surface.

  • @theguruofreason

class M? What is this, star trek? That's not a real term is it...

people WAY over-estimate human importance, we're moss on the surface of the planet couldn't hurt it if we tried, might kill the other organisms (but so far not even a meteor that cracked the surface has). All life is torture and terror in nature, humans enjoy themselves; do whatever brings us happiness, the only way for a net decrease in suffering IMO.

  • though overpopulating might be bad for humans...not sure if anti aging would have ANYTHING to do with that though.

  • @Lariasio

what does living longer have to do with overpopulating? we do the latter anyway. Need to give sexual supressants or drugs that make people impotent IMO. And live as long as possible. Why so hateful of viruses? all animals are plant parasites, the world is a dead ball of rock. We're the only thing that doesn't spend 99% of our life in fear and pain, human happiness brings the only net decrease in suffering. If humans don't kill all life a meteor or volcano or something else will.

  • @unassumption What if instead of humans killing all life they focused primarily on preserving all life? The animals are in fear and pain mainly because of our existence, we certainly pollute the planet and make it a worse place to live. "All animals are plant parasites" wheres the validity to that contention? Why wouldn't we also be plant parasites are you asserting that we are an outlier group? Then please debunk evolution for me, prove that your not so imbecilic as you seem.

  • she sounds retarted..

  • Did they also test it on mice with fully functioning human brains?

  • @Mumbamumba ur retarted. get to know science.

telemerase is in both mice and humans.

  • @labeeb786

I'm sorry to have to tell you, Sir, but obviously you are retarded or just an ignorant uninformed moron. I was simply referring to Christine O'Donnell and her legendary "mice with fully functioning human brains"-statement.

So shut the fuck up if you know shit, douchebag. Or continue to emphasize what an idiot you are, I don't care.

Merry Christmas! I hope Santa brings you a fully functioning brain. Even a mice brain (if fully functioning) seems to be an improvement for you.

  • I want some of that I want to become immortal

  • I like that they both read up on this. They both want to be immortal. Who doesn't?

  • This entire video was hilarious...

"The liberation of Mongolia has begun" - I almost fell out of my chair laughing at that one.

  • The next Terrorist attack will be by a mongolian.

  • @DXSXDXSXD Only an ugly person would want something like this.... dumbass. Im ok but i have my deficiencies. If it werent for them and finding ways to deal with them alot of my character and personality wouldnt have been developed.

  • Seeds of War?.

  • @trentWHY grow up, and learn something instead of being a troll. do something better with your time.

  • Lol we already knew that telomerase stops shortening of chromsomes, this has been known for a while nothing new.

  • @trentWHY the only space left in the world is protected land because of the global conservation act of 2010 to protect forests and species from going extinct. also you used the plural term for family; and you're gonna say my idea is idiotic? like i'm gonna expect someone who doesn't even use proper grammar to be scientifically literate at all. move on you anthropocentric turd.

  • @trentWHY sheer arrogance on your part. the human population doubled in not even 100 years. how smart does that make humans seem now? what are we gonna do? cut down every forest to allow the population to keep growing?

  • @trentWHY all species can reach an unsustainable number to where members starve, or die off from disease, which is because of their numbers outdoing their resources.

  • astragalus has been for sale for years

  • Research in cancer prevention will skyrocket if that's the only way stopping the youth-fountain process. Wonder how the cosmetics industry's going to react ^^

  • isnt telomerose the thing that cuts the dna, so wouldnt you want less telomerose?

  • @trentWHY How and why on earth would I make that up? Someone else must have learned this in bio in highschool around 2001, anyone remember this stuff??

  • @trentWHY I'm just saying that in 2001, the same class I very distinctly remember talking about 9/11 with after it happened, Bio 1, the teacher talked to our class about telomersomething, and telomerase, and how they were at the end of DNA strands, and when there was more telomerase, an animal or person would live longer because there was more to physically decay before it got to the important material. Our teacher said that if we found a way to add onto it, in theory we'd live longer.

  • @songojin yea ur for the most part right. the down side is, the longer they are the more chance of getting cancer. this is old news... as well as bad news

  • @songojin that's right. i'm assuming that if you put too much telomerase on it'll shatter and fall off and then they'll be no telomerase to prtoect u. sorta like building a skyscraper that's too thin. it'll just buckle. So i suppose taking the right amount is what's important

  • Im learning about this in school...

  • Isn't this old news? I remember learning this in highschool bio. Bio 1, before AP.

  • Enzymes speed up chemical reactions so how does this work? Anyone care to explain

  • This isn't new.. It's been known for a while... The enzyme was found in cancer research, not the other way around.

  • 'reversed the effects of aging' So wrong. Freaks me the fuck out

  • oh man, here we go again, fucking with nature..

oh well, I all for it just to see what happens and hopefully get some serious lulz

  • pronounced TEA-lom-Oh-rase

  • I grow Astragalus, you can buy seeds from many places and possibly the actual herb from many herbalists.

  • the liberation of mongolia has begun... haha

  • does this increase the longevity of fertliity? won't this add to overpopulation?

  • Oh my fucking god
