good choice with the ALNICO pickups. Id just keep those in. If you had the reg. PAF type id switch to the WCR handwound pickups $120 a piece. change to a 500k pot. Change the Nut to a BONE NUT $20. thats about it. so in the end . YOull have better response, better Pickups, better NUT. Better tuners. it will make for a nice solid backup USA "PLEK MACHINE" Lester. Im a four guitar guy. Even one killer Paul and a nice satin studio with the upgrades and your set.
This guitar is more Les Paul than the later Les Pauls... after all, the originals came with P-90s which many people seem to feel is the best pickup Gibson ever made. Why somebody would want to take such a perfect LP and put those boring old humbuckers in it, I cannot for my life imagine. buy a LP Standard if that's what you want. Jeez. This guitar is so perfect I had to buy one and I am

@Luukeeeehh Well you could.. but I would not recommend it because you'd have to router a bigger hole for the pickup to make it fit. Besides, the P90's are one of the main reasons people want this guitar. If those are the pickups you want, I'd say go with the regular studio with humbuckers 'n swap em out.
@Luukeeeehh I'd almost recomend it...the P-90's sound so nice in it but this is a cheaper alternative that can easily convert into it's $4000 custom shop big brother.
@Luukeeeehh yeah...I like P-90's alright. It's a form of single coil pickup though. It's more Strat-like than a humbucker which is what we all think of in Les Paul tone. It's all in how much BOOM you want.
Great for everything except on the first half, you bent that ONE NOTE WAY TOO FAR! Right at the 0:26 mark. Sorry, but it was killing me and I had to say something. Good job otherwise.
I've got the goldtop model, just got it yesterday! It's my 3rd les paul, my 4th gibson, and it'll compare to anything I've ever heard or played. Really amazing guitar, and at such a low price!
OMG Dude The Palomino V32 Amp is a hot little single 12" combo amplifier that kicks serious butt. It's an all-tube, 30W class A amp featuring four EL-84 tubes in the power section. Very solid construction with searing tone that will get you in the ZZ Top, AC/DC, Led Zep, Ted Nugent, Allman Bros, classic blues-rock frame of mind in an instant. Plug an LP or a 335 into the V32 combo and you won't be able to suppress a smile when you hear this amp perform. GREAT CHOICE DUDE.
I've got a LP and even like the pups but the bridge sqeals like a pig when I turn up the gain. Funny thing is my PRS doesn't do this. I even have an SG Epi that I put the GFS pups in and it sounds better than my real LP.
What gives?? Is there a way to keep the squeeling pickup from doing this. Is it safe to pot it with wax? How is that done?
The Fender tone, to me, is uplifting and amazing; I love the clarity and brightness in a Stratocaster. If you look at any famous guitarist, chances are they either play or own a Fender. Also, my affinity for Fenders may come from my influences; when I first started playing, I was (and still am) into Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, and The Edge (of U2).
The ever-raging question, Fender or Gibson? Who is the king of guitars? Which company (or their design) is better? A very significant portion of guitars out there today are based off of one of Fender's or Gibson's designs. So, as we delve into the deeper aspects of this matter, keep an open mind if you are set on one company or another.
@BuzzPion I have a new video on the way with the amp cranked. And I am plugged straight in, I'm only using the amps footswitch. I don't believe in modeling equipment looped through effects.
@BitzRitz1988 Yeah for sure, I've got it being set up right now. I will make a new video asap =) I will also make one to a backing track for a little spice.

Are the P-90s always that quiet? Is that the honey burst? Has a very unique tone.
Thanks for posting.

@BigDuke5500 I got this guitar in Gold Top finish and I was surprised at how quiet the P90s are. Haven't noticed a hum at all whatsoever.
