  • F.W...my hero, this and mozart #39, have been done to death, and NO-ONe can touch his readings...period.

  • Great performance by great conductor !!!

  • Nice!

  • This is most brilliant symphony of after Beethoven’s period!

  • this is actually London Symphony Orchestra not LPO (Columbia - CAX 8335 - 8342) But thanks for posting - such an interesting approach.

  • I love the sound of this recording.

  • Awesome!

  • asfdasdf asfasdasasthe best Thirds I have heard- it combines a great sense of structure with passion and lyricism to produce an equal fdd

  • One of the best Thirds I have heard- it combines a great sense of structure with passion and lyricism to produce an equal of Furtwangler's great 1949 recording.

  • this is my fave song

  • What is special here is that instead of being a muddy and turbid reading as is so often the case with Brahms, this is clean, clear, limpid, almost lyrical. A revelation.

  • Wow,he was born before the US Civil War ,and we have his concert ,for all time.

  • I absolutely love this piece but I have the say that the sound quality is kind of radio-like but fully understandable...considering the time when recorded

  • I think the sound is quite good for a record from the 1930's.

  • Ah, if only the music was a little bit clearer.

  • Ich leibe es. Brahms Musik ist wunderbar zu mich. klassische Musik kann zutrefft zu fast alles in leben. All Musik kann.

  • Abbey Road studios eh! Weingartner was a masterful, yet rather literal, conductor. Like many conductors of another era, he was also a prolific composer.

  • While he strove for a literal reading of the music, many of his recordings (especially earlier ones before 1930) have highly flexible tempi compared to modern day recordings. His early recordings of Beethoven's 7th and 8th symphonies are a must-hear.

  • This wonder has made me feel better today, sir Paulo...thanks,as ever! And as ever you are so exquisite!

    and gentle1
