I've never listened to Radiohead before but want to give them a chance because I've heard they are great! Can someone explain why this song is good to me?
@Anderspish If you have to ask that question then you cant really listen to this song as you should. Radiohead is a band where you have to listen to their songs at least 3 or 4 times, I mean really listen to all the detail, to actually appreciate the talent thats happening. Listen to it a few more times then come back and post what you think, Im positive you will have a different outlook on the song.
@Anderspish It's also great to start with OK Computer, their third album. They have a lot of really cool songs on there that might get you hooked. Then on to Kid A, and keep checking out all of their albums. They have a lot of diverse and amazing music!
@Anderspish it's what i can only describe as a flower blossoming in front of you, bringing in new sounds and rhythms, each reacting beautifully with eachother, until the flower finally comes to a close.
@ robgnarly64 - great call man.. i couldnt agree more. each time i hear that part through my headphones it sounds better than the last! radiohead has taken music to a new plateau..but no seriously dude eh eh
Man that was a bit defensive, since this is based on opinion like everything in music? OK Computer is a fantastic album! I just would put Amnesiac slightly ahead because it's interesting. Chill
• this album rocks, if you want to hear bands make the same tired, beaten down tunes , go bit torrent a Muse album or cry to some coldplay in your room.
p.s. if you consider yourself Avant-garde enough to give criticism, understand that you never made Kid A, you never made OK cpu, you never made jack shit.
with that said... let this shit fuck your ear pussy until their next album, and maybe it will meet your standards then bitches
Radiohead is without a doubt, the most cutting edge mainstream band out there. I start to pick apart the recording processes they use but end up giving up about half way through the song
This is a pretty good opener, but not the best by their standards. Don't get me wrong though, it's a cool song. One thing that always gets me- the opening piano riff sounds so lush, I just want it to continue and come more lively in the song, but it always cuts off and every time I feel longing for it to continue D: I need to start remixing songs to fit my picky musical desires...
You know what? you can't compare any Radiohead album with the previous ones, because they're always totally different from each other, it's like comparing The Beatles with Kraftwerk.
Every Radiohead Album is supreme in its style. That's because Radiohead is the most perfect Band ever. Period.
OMG! stop arguing what your favourite album is, everyone has different opinions and tastes so stop trying to push your own interpretation onto everyone else.
One thing I've noticed is that, fans are becoming alienated by Radiohead's new sound; comparing OK COMPUTER to TKOL would be like comparing the ground and sky (in any order).
Bands these days are unable to evolve in term of their music because of the fan base. In the end, one way or the other, a band will make new fans and alienate older ones, depending on their direction. Radiohead being in the musical scene for about 20 years have understood this concept, and accepted it whole heartedly.
@AzQ22 Its funny how the new bands now suck compared to their old music, BUT Radiohead has evolved and made their music the best thing that ever pop up the worlds mind. :)
I like that you put Amnesiac higher than Kid A like I did. Seems as if too many people think because it was the later release it wasn't supposed to be as good
@wackitywack I agree but so are Pyramid Song, Knives Out, and Like Spinning Plates. Both albums are great but in my personal preference I found myself playing Amnesiac more often than Kid A
I wonder if the band starts arguing about which of their albums was the best or would they feel bad that their fans grade their albums.... if they read these comments... not that this is the only page where they compare albums.
@skeezerzz I was alot more fascinated with their experimental albums like Kid A and such. OK Computer was a massive album and it did strike a chord with me. I love OK Computer and it changed the way I look at music forever. Hail to the Thief just came first, and the album came out at a very tough time in my life, so it means more to me.
@Jobizzie I can hear the DJ Shadow type influence. Radiohead sometimes have that deep and dark trip hop influence reminiscent of Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky, Amon Tobin, Unkle, AllFlaws
@robskim101 Unfortunately nowhere near the genius of Burial for me at the moment. However Radiohead always grow over time so I shall not give up on it yet..
@blackangelsmoke I love you too for that comment! I've listened to all those artists you've just listed for ages! They are my heart! So wonderful to see such a fantastic band like Radiohead influenced by equally talented muscians! 'If music be the food of love, play on!' <3
@blackangelsmoke I read somewhere that Thom has also drawn inspiration from glitch artists such as Autechre, case in point here i think. Amazing man fantastic band, maybe the most important of our time, always out on the experimental edge and never afraid to try something new. Never heard of AllFlaws but i'll check them out as i love all the other groups you mentioned.

Not every Radiohead album needs to have a "message", just sit back and enjoy the music (though it's hard not to move some sort of limb during each track). I really like it myself.. It's not going to be as good as In Rainbows in my opinion but it's still a winner.
It's pretty good, I just don't really like the confusing and extreme looping... It's like listening to Braids "Native Speaker" album, the mellow tones and warm chords mixed together perfectly.
@monkeywrench666 Maybe Amnesiac could be seen as crap, and Kid A too, but In Rainbows, in my opinion has one of their best songs on "Jigsaw falling into place", and Hail to The Theif is pretty good too, better than this King Of Limbs I think. But I'm giving it time to sink in. I never liked HTTT at first either come to think of it, but now I do.
@qpwo6 Don't get me wrong, there is the odd good song in all of the albums that followed OK Computer and many will prefer this version of Radiohead...Faust Arp, The Pyramid Song, Morning Bell and others are very good...I guess I just miss the old days, I'll never forget the disappointment when I bought Kid A and Amnesiac. Matter of taste ;)

People passing, cars, whirling lights, blurs.............
Woman smiling, smile, smile, people walking fast motion, baby crying, flowers growing, street light--red, green, yellow, red, people passing, cars driving, blurs.........
Sunsetting, sunrising, tides in, tides out, walking on the beach, hands holding, a kiss, making love, swinging round and round, blurs...............

People neglect to see that Radiohead comes in different flavours, and that every new release isn't an attempt to better past albums.

I think that this song would make a great acoustic track..Thom's voice is outstanding on this song.

I know! Im a huge Rhead fan, but have been listening to a lot of Dub Step lately.. especially Flying Lotus, and I am shocked to see how Avant Garde and similar the structures are.
