I am hoping that someday I can get to go to the zoo to see the walruses (esp Nereus!). I just love that lil guy. We just bought Growing Up Arctic on DVD and he's my favorite of all of the Growing Up series.
Nereus has grown so much since then. He has become agressive toward Aurora. He won't let Aurora come up to the glass. Nereus is a window hog. He is always at the window if someone is down there.
Oh that is sad to hear! I'm still sad over the news of Sitka's passing (which I found through google after watching the Growing up show for the first time). So just Aurora? Not aggressive with Brutus?
Nereus is acting just like Brutus. He crosses his flippers when he interacts, just like Brutus. He is copying Brutus's vocalizations. Aurora is my favorite. She is adorable when she interacts. She sucks on the glass and blows kisses.

They have a Walrus Experience (or had, I don't know if they still have it) at California's Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo. When it first opened in 1995, my sister and I stayed there for like an hour just watching them- they would come up and give kisses through the windows. I love it!

people don't realize how amazing the Indy Zoo is. I am saddened that one of them died recently, the poor thing.

The Indy Zoo is amazing. None of the walruses have died recently. Sitka died in 2005.
