The 3rd battalion, 506th regiment (Currahees) went into Cambodia during Vietnam after being separated from the 101st Airborne and opconned to the 4th Infantry Division. On May 10, 1970, Bravo Company was ambushed by a larger NVA force, with eight killed and 28 wounded. Among the killed was Sgt. Leslie Sabo Jr., who was recommended for the Medal of Honor, but the paperwork went missing until 1999. Sabo's MoH order is now being considered by President Obama. (I'm the author of Sabo's biography)
It's an awful simplicity - young frightened innocent and often willing men men do the deeds- later History records that they succeeded or failed - celebrates or ignores them accordingly. ....I'd love to save my sons the challenge - be glad if I'd been one of them in a good cause. Now choose - where would you have your son die. Only one war in my lifetime has been worth asking this question of me - How would it be to loose a child and live with it? Women don't start wars.
whoever made this video is stupied. 101st airborne does have a history, battle at bastonge, D-Day, Market Garden, Battle at Dak To, hamburger hill, Iraq and afganstan. learn how to look at a divison's history before u put gay stuff up...
@Airborne1224: be4 u start insulting people here: that 101st did (!!!) not have a history is not someone s gay shit, but a quote from the Commanding General, Major General William C. @ULTIMA1660 do you mind if i ask why you choose marines instead of the airborne, the training for both is pretty intense, i wanna know what swung you towards marines.
@retro12358 The Tet Offensive of 1968 in Vietnam. Most of the major cities and many bases were attacked by the Viet Cong and NVA on January 31, 1968 which was a holiday for the Vietamese like Christmas is to Americans. They lost and we won after many weeks of hard fighting.

I was merely "suggesting" that the video messed up the timeline of pictures provided. There were no such things as UH-60s in Vietnam. The UH-60 wasn't even the winner of the competition until 1976. One year after the Vietnam War ended. So, no, the Huey is not the first successful version of the Blackhawk. It's the other way around.considering the UH-1 was the first turbine powered helicopter in service of the United States military.
The guys from "Band of Brothers" were only one company "Easy" from the 101st. There were other companies that killed more Germans, took more casualties and recieved more citations that Easy did. The only reason they are being singled out is because Stephen Ambrose wrote about them. (Incorrectly btw) In fact, ALL the soldiers from Easy, for all these years have been embarrased to receive so much credit. - Easy was just a small, TINY portion of the total war effort for VE day.

God bless airborne they r the best troops we got, it is sad they got ride of easy company... all i have 2 say is ty airborne 4 taking care of us and saving alot of troops
Many people over look the role the 101st played on D-Day on that very cold morning of June 6th, 1944. These guys deserve a lot more respect then they currently get. With out this Division, things would with out a doubt have gone differently, and not just on D-Day. I pray my heart nd soul to you guys. Thumbs up if you agree with me, guys.
@Hasdog24 - I don't agree. The 101st has received more respect and credit for "winning the war" than any other division, company, OR unit EVER. They've had more books written about them than need be written. - When in fact, they just did there share. The only reason most people know about them is because Stephen Ambrose happened to write about them "Band of Brothers" which was turned into a mini-series. - There were other divisions in WWII and ARE better WWII writers than Ambrose..
@corebare In the military, no division is better then the other. How dare you say such words. I was simply stating that the 101st played more major roles in not just WWII, but in Vietnam, the Golf war, Desert Storm, and may other battles and conflicts through out the world. They will more then likely be remembered most because of BoB, but people generally think of them just cause of WWII, I'm saying we should remember all those of the 101st that didn't serve in WII, but all other conflicts.
@Hasdog24 _ You need to read again what I wrote. You totally missed the point. Please point out where in my paragraph did I say that one division is better than an other?
@Hasdog24 They didn't just fight on D-Day, they fought in the Battle of the Buldge surrounded by German tanks and soldiers. They were given the opertunaty by Germany to surrender and they sent a letter to the German commanders saying "Nuts".
@MrRikkierik Hmmm..... Divisions of SS foot soldiers supported by hundreds of Panzer and Tiger tanks giving me the choice of surrender or die. Hmmm....I am undersupplied and have only 2 divisions of airborne troops and the worst snow storm in years has reached the battlefield. No, I'd shoot the guy sending this message and take his socks and ammo.
There is actually a book of the 101st Actions in WW2. Its called Screaming Eagles or something close. The pictures are from all regiments, PIR, GIR and support regiments, of the 101st. Check it out.
I want to slap the shit out of everyone that thinks they are paying tribute to the hard men that have fought for freedom when they play Nickleback or some other cheesedicked panty-waist shitstain modern emorock in their video.

The famous Easy Company liberated my hometown (Eindhoven,The Netherlands) during WW2.
I visited Normandy a few weeks ago and I visited Carentan,St Marie Du Mont and of course the Brecourt farm.
I saw the original painting @ 0:31 in a museum in St Mere Eglise.
Thank you for liberating us!

I spent twenty six years with the Army, the only ones I count as truly exceptional were the five I spent with the 101st. I darn sure miss those days.

@Hasdog24 Dude ever heard of band of brothers? Everyone talks about the 101st like they saved Europe by themselves
Wesh67300 1 year ago
@Hasdog24 Well im saying this relying on Band of brothers but werent the 101st the guys that basiclly ended the war
UG0TP0WND 1 year ago
@UG0TP0WND The brave men of the US military ended the war, it was teamwork not just the 101st
lvrpatriot01 1 year ago
@lvrpatriot01 Yeah I know but the 101st played a big part in it

@Hasdog24 - I don't agree. The 101st has received more respect and credit for "winning the war" than any other division, company, OR unit EVER. They've had more books written about them than need be written. - When in fact, they just did there share. The only reason most people know about them is because Stephen Ambrose happened to write about them "Band of Brothers" which was turned into a mini-series. - There were other divisions in WWII and ARE better WWII writers than Ambrose..
corebare 1 year ago
@corebare In the military, no division is better then the other. How dare you say such words. I was simply stating that the 101st played more major roles in not just WWII, but in Vietnam, the Golf war, Desert Storm, and may other battles and conflicts through out the world. They will more then likely be remembered most because of BoB, but people generally think of them just cause of WWII, I'm saying we should remember all those of the 101st that didn't serve in WII, but all other conflicts.
Hasdog24 11 months ago
@Hasdog24 _ You need to read again what I wrote. You totally missed the point. Please point out where in my paragraph did I say that one division is better than an other?
corebare 11 months ago
@Hasdog24 They didn't just fight on D-Day, they fought in the Battle of the Buldge surrounded by German tanks and soldiers. They were given the opertunaty by Germany to surrender and they sent a letter to the German commanders saying "Nuts".

@drnogood59 would you do the same?...
MrRikkierik 4 months ago
@MrRikkierik Hmmm..... Divisions of SS foot soldiers supported by hundreds of Panzer and Tiger tanks giving me the choice of surrender or die. Hmmm....I am undersupplied and have only 2 divisions of airborne troops and the worst snow storm in years has reached the battlefield. No, I'd shoot the guy sending this message and take his socks and ammo.

@drnogood59 socks, ammo Hmmm..... I would also took his food.

like 80% of the WW2 pics are of 506th easy company, there were ssooo much more in the 101st, like glider regiments and other paratrooper regiments.
tux117 1 year ago
There is actually a book of the 101st Actions in WW2. Its called Screaming Eagles or something close. The pictures are from all regiments, PIR, GIR and support regiments, of the 101st. Check it out.

How about using something timeless like Hendrix?
