  • The CVT is Dynoable! All you have to do is change the X on the graph from RPM to MPH.

  • ***CVT EXPLAINED***

The term CVT means Constantly Variable Transmission, aka Constant Velocity Transmission, It's the same as a snowmobile, you can have a 2 or 3 speed snowmobile. The car still HAS gears, that are DRIVEN by a CVT system. It WILL SHIFT, under that HARD of acceleration

  • @whatsdare dumbass

  • its not turbo he is in manual mode and he quicky up shifts to give the apparence of a turbo but its not.

  • This is indeed real. Nice job.

All the losers that hate on CVT's all day can suck a nut. They just regurgitate the same shit they hear from other losers.

  • idk what all the bs about cvt's holding up is i work at Nissan and have never seen a cvt transmission not hold up bc its belt driven

  • @a1u1s1t1e1n seriously its not my fault I got a transformer car and it shifts for me :D

  • hey whats up man i have a question i have a 2009 maxima and unfortunately why such a beautiful car doesn't come in Manuel beats the shit outta me....im working on a gt30 turbo kit for it (still doing the pipes) i was wondering what type of piggy back did you get (i do know its from split second but do you know model/part number?), and how is the CVT holding up is there any advise you could give me so i don't break it.....i alrdy have installed a tranny cooler for it. Thanks

  • Bro, you helped me so mfreaking much on my project, im doing a 2.4 CVT turbo lancer...ive just learned so much from you over the last month, thanks a lot for you being a pioneer on this!!!!

  • @LordAbraxesDark hey i got an 08 lancer es cvt was just wondering I just installed A forged stroker kit for my 4b11 now I want to put turbo on it at around 16 pound boost of turbo is their anyway to make A cvt hold that much turbo like get A stronger belt for it or some how make it bullet proof I do alot of research and automatic trannys can be built to be bullet proof was wondering how your cvt turbo is holding up and what did you do to make it run reliable with turbo.

  • this is not cvt

  • cvt comes with simulated manual shifts, people who dont have cvt are the ones that call this an automatic

  • lol dudes you are so ignorant this altima coupe is CVT nissan made the transmission with manual shifts so what are you talking about? the aceleration of the altima coupe is beast nice vid dude =)

  • how much HP can the cvt's handle?

  • You guys are idiots. The people who don't think this is real have no idea about CVT systems or how they interact with a turbo system. This video is 100% real. Anyone wondering can look up turbo altima coupe on google or speed force racing. Tell me what's real then.

  • Also, does anyone pay attention to the video? A: The car doesn't accelerate that fast naturally, so it must be attributed to something.....wonder if its a turbo? B: Look under the fuel gauge, see the numbers going from 2 to 4 with the little M above it? That means manual mode of the CVT.

  • Now, given the fact that the coupe only comes in CVT and 6 speed manual, and the manual doesn't have a displayed gear position in the instrument cluster, this absolutely confirms the validity of the title, CVT. Thanks, and have a good day.

  • no cvt and no turbo, you sir are what we call a PHONY!

  • @poopmypants4 so what is it if it's not the CVT? These Altimas don't come with Automatics.

  • why is everyone so surprised why CVT doesn't shift. And it doesn't damage the transmission nor does it give u bad MPGs. Its much stronger than the Camry, Accord, Fusion, and Mazda 6. CVT is the best and gives out the aggressive sound if ur not gassing it. lol

  • Continuously Variable Transmission... Duhhhh as if no one knows, but some don't!

  • the problems with cvt are logistical not conceptually. lotta people are pretty dumb knocking these things saying that they're just for economical driving, look at some karts with a cvt upgrade and they hammer compared to a normal fixed gear kart.

a cvt has an infinite amount of "gears", and just as 6 and 7 speeds are better than yesterdays 4 and 5 speeds and ancient 2 speeds, a cvt is in theory the peak of what a transmission should be, no power loss for gear changes just constant accelerati

  • if it "doesn't shift" then why is the car moving ????

  • @goldijun

lol, actually it shifts but in a different way, it's a Continuously Variable Transmission, search for the video explaining how CVT works, it's interesting :)

  • The cvt seems to hog alot of power. My car is an 05 six speed se-r, with some bolt ons and a bottle. I beat badly cvt 3.5 cars. When I was stock I was beating same year gt mustangs left and right and I was right on the rear bumper of my buddies stock 2000 camaro ss 6spd. I did barely beat some extended cab f-150 with a loud blower whine but he was far from stock. Where did you get those figures right there?

  • nice set up, but get a 5 speed. check out my N/a video.

  • these cars are jokes. i raced one today at a set of lights with my f150 with minor bolt ons and a tune. he had a "turbo" emblem under the 3.5 on the back, and the thing barley passed me. u wanna see fast jump in a corvette i wasnt impressed he should have blown my doors off without a turbo

  • I spanked one of those with my Cobalt SS 2.4 S/c 5spd. and before you call me a liar blah blah 2.4's dont come with superchargers.. I installed an M62 myself..

  • dude u probably have 250ish hp not to mention a cobalt is way lighter than an altima...

  • i was just about to say that. the stock supercharged cobalts are 2.0 i always wondered why didnt chevy put the turbo on the 2.4 because, naturally aspirate its a pretty stout lil 4 banger that most people don't realize

  • @mcline86 not it probably said cvt lol

  • @mcline86 where u live, ill be happy to blow your doors off with my joke of a car. That car was probably a 2.5 with no turbo or anything.

  • @mathyu0179 nah it was deff a 3.5 with a TURBO emblem on it i know how to read fuck face. your a fuckin joke bro, you and your car. actually there kinda nice, most the girls i know drive them.

  • @mcline86 Yea you know how to read but, you can't spell. fuck face, I dont think that car had a turbo, it cost a shit ass ton of money to turbo an altima. If it did it would have flat out handed you your own ass on a silver platter. f-150's are heavy tough bricks, I t-boned one a long time ago and it held up nice but the're slow as fuck. Quit kidding yourself dude.

  • @mathyu0179 my point exactly, i have a TRUCK. im not the one pretendin i got a race car here. they aint fuckin fast at all, bottom line your in a girls car and if u blew the doors off a f150 that aint sayin much. get in a real car and then come tell me you went fast.

  • @mcline86 My car is an 05 smoke se-r 6 spd, ported heads, cams, 75 shot, tuned, and it runs a mid 13 because I have shit traction. I trapped over 100 when I was stock, With no spray. Im right with my buddies g8 gt from a dig and walk away from a roll. I would hardly consider that a girls car. This car is my dd, my "race car" is an fc rx7, and my street car is an 11 sec dsm. My truck, is a chevy, and I pulled a stuck ford out of a mud pit yesterday...and a broken dodge.

  • @mathyu0179 ur talkin to someone that doesnt give a fuck about you or your storys, stop fillin up my inbox woman, go watch some youtube videos or suttin, damn

  • @mcline86 then why do you keep replying to me you cock sucker every time I open my mail box I see one of you're gay ass comebacks. If you don't want shit then dont start it asshole.

  • @mathyu0179 hahahahahaha fuck you pussy boy, with ya bitch ass girls car

  • @mcline86 whats up am I making you mad? Did you buy the truck because you have a small penis or what. Big truck little penis.

  • hahahah id rather have a small penis than no penis, drivin a nissan altama hahahahhaha pusssssssssssssy

  • @mcline86 So what you are saying is you wouldn't want to be a girl driving an Altima... So if you are a guy what are you trying to say Brainiac?

  • @mathyu0179 Loved the argument guys lol. The altima is unique girls will preffer that to a common pick up truck, if they're classy that is. The altima goes 0-60 in 6.6 for the 3.5L turbo, the supercharged 5.4L f150 goes 0-60 in 5.8 according to topgear. I'm an european so I personally don't understand the appeal of a pick up truck, even if it is faster.

  • CVT is undynoable? No its not, I've saw a couple dyno runs with the CVT, the power curve is pretty much flat over 2,000 RPMs, and it might not be exact, but it is definitely dynoable, who the hell told you it wasn't??? LOL

  • Bad for ur tranny! Turbo is no go on CVT unless u got cash but u could just by a race car so don't.

  • inflinate gear ratios are great for mileage but not maxmium torque or acceleration since its always in same gear that just gets bigger

  • so whats so speacial about the CVT tranny i dont get it, what are the benefits??

  • so your girlfriend doesn't smear lipstick all over her face when you are accelerating and the car is shifting.. didn't you see that nissan altima commercial from a couple years ago?

  • haha lol

  • Seems like that CVT tranny likes the 5500-6500 RPM range, so engine tuning should be optimized for that range.

  • 1) Yes you can dyno the engine and find out how much bhp it has, you just won't know how much whp it has. 2) Why would you turbocharge a cvt car? CVTs are for efficency not performance dumbass. If you put that same engine in a car with a 5spd m/t I guarantee you it will accelerate way faster than this crappy CVT. Hope your getting enough MPGs to compensate for the money you wasted tuning this car! hahaha lol

  • @tlracing53 cvts are not just for efficiency they put the engines rpms where it will make the most power.

I have a 2005 altima 2.5s auto it does 0-60 around 9 seconds whereas my dads 2007 2.5S cvt can do it in around 7.3 seconds.

I have seen cvt altima sand maximas(vq35) hang with stock 6 spd 350z s

  • stock for stock? no effin way. I own a stock 07 altima 3.5 I know what it will do and it definately wont hang. eg: going froma rolling start is where they really shine but even still stang, z, etc will still run off and leave it.

  • ive taken stock 350z's with nothing but an exhaust added to my 09 3.5, and im talking a couple car lengths ahead at 120 mph on the beltway.

  • @tlracing53

^ one ignorant/ill-informed/clueless individual over here

  • why/how are they undynoable? Cant you just leave it in second and punch it in the manual shift mode? Or do u have to go thru all 5 gears?? wtf

  • CVT doesnt have 5 gears, its pulleys and a "belt" with a continuously variable gear ratio (between certain limits.) Hence "Continuously Variable Transmission"...

  • i dont get why they "can't" dyno it either. all you gotta do is put it on the dyno, get the wheels rolling. put it in man shift mode go in 3rd or 4th gear and make a pass on the dyno and be sure to keep it above 5mph so the system doesnt automatically put it back in 1st gear

  • I hate CVT's !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • by the way, just FYI, the cvt was invented a long time ago by a famous man called leonardo da vinci

  • there seems to be some confusion about cvt transmission with some people. If you want to make an educated comment learn how the cvt works. go to the how things work website. google it

  • Comment removed

  • You can also measure horsepower or torque directly from the crankshaft if you really want to => bypass the CVT dyno problem.

Also, guys, get realistic. A CVT doesnt shift, it changes ratios directly by moving itself..

The difference in words already shows exactly the way the vario differs.

  • Why would you use the manual shift feature? It makes the car slower vs. holding it at peak RPMs.

  • wannabe fast and furious????

  • cvt doesnt shit but cvt is variable.

because if you kick the gas down and release and then accelerate again its like going to a new gear.

Thats why its called variable. continously based on what the car needs.

  • how do you turbo a cvt? the same way you turbo a 6mt. the engine is being turbo'd. not the transmission.

hes not actually a liar at all. its not that the CVT is not dynoable, its that the CVTs results from any dyno are unclear and unreliable. you could get numbers way off because the transmission cant hold a gear long enough for the computer to read the HP; even in the M mode.

  • How did you turbo a cvt?

  • CVT is very much a nonfactor in why you didn't dyno this.

  • Nah It only shifts when you use that techtronic (or whatever its called) shifter.

  • cvt doesn't shift !!!

  • yes it does, moonfades, it shifts if you put it into certain fixed gear ratio that the shifter allows, making this person a huge liar

  • @moonfades2009 I thought it was always shifting?

  • @moonfades2009 WRONG! it's constantly shifting!

  • @moonfades2009 They decided to add these 'virtual shifts' to make it feel like its changing gear. It actually makes it less efficient, but people prefer them.

  • @moonfades2009 I think they made it to simulate shifting, like they added shifting points. I had a Altima rental once, I thought the trany was slipping, I told em that and they just said "ohh no its the CVT" Its different.

  • @moonfades2009 Have you driven the Nissan CVTs??? You can make it simulate shifts.

  • Correct, it "simulates" gear positions by changing the position of the mechanical belt on the drive cones within the CVT. This position change puts the belt closer or farther from the drive shaft in different increments, causing the traditional transmission style action.

  • @adidas2go why would you want it to simulate shifting though? wouldn't it accelerate faster if the engine stayed in its peak power

  • @mucushrapnel, do u really want to put your foot to the floor and stay at the same rpm the whole time, im guessing not, yes it does keep it in the powerband but nothing is as fun as hearing the rpms change when you shift. now in the video, i wouldnt call that shifting cause it only dropped 1000 rpm each time and it was freakin slow car, my brothers 2.0 4 cyl elantra stock would smoke that. nothing is as reliable and oringanal than 5/6 speed stick manual with 3 pedals in front of the seat

  • @moonfades2009 It does in sport mode . . . I have a 2007 Altima 3.5SE w/CVT

  • OK...is the turbo good on the CVT?and have the made headers fot thr new Altima yet?

  • i have G35 and use the DS mode all the time aka slap stick but yeah when you put the car in drive move the shifter to the left and push up or down then it'll say 1 that how it is on my car shouldnt be 2 much different made by the same ppl lol

  • Yeah its gonna be a lot different because the Altima is a CVT not a normal transmission.

  • how does the cvt work?

  • doesnt look much different

  • عدل عدل هاذا الشغل الصح

    ولا شفر هع

  • dont coupes have the same engine as a 350z >?

  • I don't why the people with CVT uses the paddle shift. every time that you use the paddle shift in a CVT you're loosing power. CVT put the revs where the engine is making the best HP. So why do you want to get out of thats revs???? Alson the shifts don't exist on a CVT,so they are fake. I also read that CVT doesn't like the extra power. The fisrt Muranos have six oil coolers!!! and in the test of the maxima on edmunds they have to left the trasmission to cool off.

  • the cvt will shift like a regular automatic if you put it in manual shift. I have one.

  • What are you saying. Please read about the CVT. It doesn't have shifts. The essence of the CVT design is not to have shift. When you hit the paddle you get a computer programing shift. The shift doesn't exist.

  • What is the defenition of a shift? Is a shift not a diffrence in relation to tire/trans. rpm vs engine rpm? Drive one: select manual shift mode and then shift it and then you'll see what i mean. it changes ratios/rpm's with the same outcome as an auto. Yes a cvt will change (same feel/action) just like youre standerd auto in manual mode, and if left in auto there is no shift.

  • i have one to and you can do it manual

  • The CVT in the Altima and sentra do not have paddle shifters it simply is an auto car that keeps the car at full hp and TQ. I have one and hate it.

  • It looks like it shifts exactly like a normal car but really its not. The tranny is entirely different. For gods sakes dont make stupid ass comments about stuff you dont understand.

  • Boy, shut the f**k up!!

  • i dont know man

    but i read i a magazine

    about transimisons cvt

    doesn`t work good in rises

  • i hate cvt´s transmision!!

  • im not a fan, i like the downshift and pull afterward of a/t or m/t. how much power can the CVT handle?

  • I guess, like anything, it depends how it is built.

  • Not that much, it is a weak transmission, give it time and research though...

  • I have 07 v6 altima, it moves out for a sedan its quick I took out a 03 GT mustang, and i know gt mustangs aint super fat but look at weight diff but, I wish i had a 6spd. More fun and faster, I think c.v.t is OK but it not a racing tranny by no means , its really hard to force induct a c.v.t car. thats why im rollin with a intake and exhaust only. lol I wanna tune it but not sure if that can be dont with c.v.t?

  • What? CVT was DESIGNED for racing. I dont know how much power this one can handle, but a stronger one can handle more. Besides, these things are fairly new in design.

  • I have an 2008 Maxima (CVT) would this work for mine. I looked on speedforce but I dont know. GET BACK TO ME

  • that shit's slow. that transmission is trash. i've driven an 08 altima with that cvt and it sucks. and it is an automatic, theres no clutch.

  • there also no clutch in a regular automatic tranny either.

  • You're right, there are several clutches.

  • Its much much faster than stock. But, its only a video, and you can never really tell much by these unless i do a head to head with a cobra or something. Oh well.

  • @adidas2go lol slow.. he probably drives a v6 mustang. The CVT confuses me because I have raced a few and I'm stock and win. With a 4 speed auto. I see how the concept works keeping you in the max whp range. And can't figure out why it doesn't work. And your car isn't slow lol. It gets up and moves. I'm sure you are able to keep up and beat most v8 cars.

  • @adidas2go pretty sure you can tell alot by watching a video and you losing to a cobra wont show us anything, besides how a real tranny is ten times better

  • @adidas2go it is? The stock V6 looks like it's just as fast...

  • @DinoSR20 Looks fast to me. The CVT actually produces the best possible engine rpm and gear ratio combinations for acceleration. It feels slower because there is no shifting.

  • @DinoSR20 no you havent this cvt is awesome if you've actually been in one you'd know that you hating bitch

  • @otsegolectrik go fuck your mother with no rubber and have a child and sibling at the same time.

  • honestly it dont look like its much faster then stock. really dont look like no 300+hp, nice to have it turbo's though.

  • it is a cvt and he has it in manual mode, it will down shift automaticly once it taps the redline. even in manual mode, the cvt allows it to have a steady pull by keeping the rpms within the power band.

  • He has it in manual mode.

  • how come it looks like its down shifting when other CVT's hold at redline the whole way ?

  • that is not cvt !!!

  • yes it is, its in manual mode, my maxima has the same feature

  • holy shit

I didnt even know you could turbo a CVT

  • why would you turbo an automatic car?

  • well first its a cvt and why not.

pluse this is one of the first 3.5 cvt altima's turboed

  • Must not be a racing fan, or know anything about racing.
