Today I got to see my 20 bags of nylon soccer pant get compacted. All our garbage goes to the incinerator downtown.

Thank you for inspiring me to clean out my dresser and closet. I have a ton of nylon soccer shorts from Umbro, Nike, Adidas, Lotto, Puma, Diadora, Mitre, High Five, Cyrk, and Soffe to name a few. I went through all of them and threw away the bad ones. The good ones are getting put up on eBay. The ones that don't sell get bagged up for trash day. I have around 15 to 20 bags now of nylon soccer pants. I had them all in boxes. I don't wear them anymore. They are going out on trash day also.

Most people don't understand all the liability issues and laws involving toys nowadays. You can't just "give away" toys. Most charities/hospitals won't take them unless they are new and in package. Goodwill has to throw out 90% of the toys donated to them. It all comes down to lawsuits. Let's say the toy was a part of a recall, Goodwill sold it to someone, and their kid got hurt. That person is going to sue Goodwill and Goodwill will get fined by the state/government for selling a recalled toy.

I'm thinking they might have put the toys out hoping someone would come by and pick it up before the garbage man did his thing. We have a guy that comes around in our neighborhood the night before, taking what he may be able to use or sell.

What are homeless people going to go with children's toys? And besides, a lot of charities like Goodwill and Salvation Army often don't accept toys because they take up too much room for more necessary items, like food.

Once the home mortgage market collasp big time say late 2007 onwards many families will be looking for so called bits of junk,...yes they spent instead of storing their saving,..lived of credit,.now their children will pay for it,..the next economic cycle about happen.
