I love watching my little six year old growing up. She never fails to remind me of this song. So beautiful yet so fragile. Thanks so much for posting it :)
Such a great reminder to appreciate the little things around us all, every day. Joe Raposo was an absolute genius and Sesame Street hasn't been the same since his passing. I remember the tribute they aired in his honor, but unfortunately, we put it on VHS and it's long gone now. I really hope that Sesame Workshop considers releasing this on DVD. It doesn't contain all his best work, but a great sampling.
i think part of the reason why these classic ss videos bring tears for us is not only the profound nostalgia, but also the feeling that this is only a remnant of an era past that we are not likely to experience on tv anymore. thank youtube and jonnytbirdzback!
I believe in great memories, many of which are the work of Joe Raposo! Raposo covered an entire spectrum - a corny investigator ('Fred, get me a 20'), peppy music for running ('Everybody Run'), soothing aerial tunes ('Flying'), and touching, introspective tunes (like 'Trying and Trying Again' and this one)! Thanks, Joe R.!
This song brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it. Joe Raposo was a classic songwriter for children's television. This song points out the fact that little things are far from insignificant. Far from unimportant. Far from not special. Little things are everything, beginning with children and their feelings. I love this song.
Oh, this one gets to me, too. Reminds me of when my daughter was born, and my older daughter (then 3 yrs old) would watch Sesame Street as I laid down while the baby was napping. This song made me want to cry then, and it certainly does now, rediscovering this video now that the girls are 22 and 25!
Joe sounds a Lot like Chet baker. I used to LOVE this song. While watching PBS, a commercial came on with the lyrics "rey to find the sunny side of life" I thought he was this guy here. It wasnt. Chet baker is his name. Look him up on youtube. he sounds like This guy. BOTH men are great. Joe should have had a life in music like Chet did.
They need to at least reissue the 1992 tribute album, "Sing: Songs of Joe Raposo", only one they've done as far as I know and now out-of-print. His music is an essential part of the show! Still love this one, takes me right back.
That was so beautiful! It made me tear up. I remember when I was a kid when they would play a short with Joe Raposo's music, I'd be hypnotized and the tune would stick in my head. All of Raposo's songs were full of gentleness, rest in peace sweet poet.
To this day, this song makes me cry...I'm tearing up right now...thanks for the trip down memory lane jonny, and thanks Mr. Raposo for making my life so much more enjoyable with your music. RIP.
@genea80 - This always makes me feel peaceful, and sometimes tear up too. What a great song with wonderful visuals of the world around us. I always loved to look outside or go walking and think of this song as a child. They dont even show this on SS anymore. I recently saw a terrible version of this song with computer generated dancing ribbons and someone singing to synthesized music. They have ditched the old SS and it has lost its touch of reality with children. This song is beautiful.
Who the hell could possibly dislike this?! Lovely, lovely song.

I still have the video of the TV tribute to Joe Raposo. I'd like to see it on YouTube. What a great composer! He died much too soon.

Speaking of Joe Raposo, 'Fred, get me a 20' is now here! When you believe in little things, big results can come about!

Joe Raposo had a gift for writing music for a kid show that didn't talk down to them. This song appeals to all ages. Thank you Mr. Raposo.

Sesame Street needs to dig into it's archives and make a Joe Raposo CD, or even better, a DVD.
It's LONG overdue.

When was the last time this one aired?
LincolnHeightsrocks 3 years ago
The original one was last seen on Episode 2274 on January 22nd, 1987.
KidsTVFan6 3 years ago
Actually, I recently saw it in episode 3917. So the last time it was seen was 2001. But still, that's a pretty big jump from 1987 to 2001

Yeah, I actually saw this version from a Sprout broadcast.
