Do you have a bussiness do you want to host BIG Video files ? THIS IS THE ONLY SOLUTION

  • I prefer webmin

  • @ATePIC Webmin is a nice tool but I feel it to be a security risk. But it is nice tool I just prefer the non-gui approach

  • @JROCK20041 Me too. This is Y I prefer linux over Windows aided admins. :P

Our job is to be capable with computers not to spend our days clickin' here and there...

A sys/net admin that uses windows is not an admin, he is a guy who as no time to care about computers because he has other stuff to do such as papers. Very interesting. ^^

  • Whats the minimum internet speed required for web server!

  • Any will do so long as it's up-time is high (don't use dial-up or mobile broadband) and it's doesn't violate a use policy your ISP has set in place. Many ISP's also filter and block you when you run a home based web server, be prepared for that possibility.

  • @mascobz uhh... that depends if you are using it via localhost or over the internet...

  • Nice tutorial but now i need to know how to get to where i put my html/php files

  • apache rules))

I using this on ubuntu and.. its cool and stable)

  • can you make a tutorial about how to make this accessible outside local host and port forwarding? :(

  • I'm not sure Ubuntu would be my first choice.

  • Ubuntu is a nice safe place for people unfamiliar with linux to hang out. Ubuntu would be one of my first choices for people new to environments that are not Windows. That and the Ubuntu community seems to work hardest at making otherwise difficult tasks-- in one word 'easier'.

  • No, they don't, that's my point. Ubuntu is far from the "easiest distro", and it doesn't do anything that any other major distribution fails to do. Furthermore, if you are going to setup a server, the "easiest distro" would not be the wisest choice, considering that Ubuntu is known for being unstable.

You remind me of some kid who tried to argue with me that Ubuntu was the only distro trying to be open-source. I shouldn't be surprised though, Ubuntu fanboys are easily offended.

  • I wouldn't call myself a fan boy. I would call myself someone that has used Fedora, OpenBSD with KDE, Linux Mint, and Ubuntu. And when I needed an answer, the Ubuntu community was the friendliest and most available.

If I was better with *nix, I may prefer something else.

And just as a note of caution you little punk prick, I've got you by a decade or so. And yes, for me, it is easier complete the task sufficiently. If it's not for you then... 'better get your money back.'

    Pwnd bitch.

  • If you want to really sack up, why don't you post a video response showing us the error of our ways. If not shut the hell up, hide in your room, go back to cutting yourself, and listen to some more shitty emo music.
