In my opinion everything went wrong after Sargon 'the great' (2400 B.C.). He was the first war monger. It went then from Sargon to Saddam all wrong.
Sumerians are the original people of Iraq, Sumerians from Baghdad to Basra and Kurds in the north.
So official languages of Iraq should be Sumerian and Kurdish, not Arabic, because Iraqi Arabs are really arabized Sumerians, especially the Marsh Arabs.
I think that in the future Iraqi Arabs will switch from arabic to sumerian.
Once again you are lieing to yourself. I did not hear anything about Kurds in ancient times all I heard was ASSYRIA to the north. So please stop being selfish and delusional. Kurds didn't appear in Iraq until the 1200 A.D, non-Assyrian sources prove that. King Saleh of Turkey forced tribes of Kurds from Southern Turkey into North Iraq.
@MrAssyrianPride It doesn't matter. Kurds now make up a second largest ethnic group in Iraq, just after Arabs. In my opinion Iraq should have two official languages - Sumerian and Kurdish with Aramaic in areas where Assyrians make up majority. Arabic language is not originally Iraqi language, it was imported in 7. century A.D. with Muslim armies from Arabian desert. And of course, Iraq should be secular, as Turkey is now.
@milekrizman No it does matter. Genetically majority of Iraqis are decendants of ancient Sumerian, Akkadian, Assyrio-Babylonian who were Islamised and Arabized .. and the two official ancient languages for the Mesopotamian region were Sumerian and Akkadian. Aramaic came later and replaced Akkadian. Kurds did not lay foot in any of those lands until 1200 A.D which is evidenced by journal entries from the Ottoman Empire. majority or not those lands are "our" inheritance.
Boy, did they ever get rid of the royal family!
