@QueenWillNeverDie Yeah, t's a parody of ska bands of that era with the clothes, the dancing, the inane lyrics, the token black guy and the catchy tune.
@Buddy Fantastic, this was released on the program's LP. I was introduced to it by a British friend when it came out, but the joke of this tune was lost on me at the time because the U.S. did not experience the ska revival. I discovered the ska revival bands when I hit college in the fall of '83 and then I went, "Oh! This is what that 'Bouncing' song was about!" Love it!
LOL can't believe this is on here!! Me and the other half were just chatting about this yesterday and I thought, " I wonder if its on YouTube....? "{ And here it is!! LOL cheers for posring, cracked me up for a good half hour, BOUNCE!!
I bet it was so close Rowan cracked up at '...judging by the way your balls are bouncing', you can see the corners of his mouth go up for just a second - and I don't blame him! :D this is the best stuff ever and he truly is the greatest.
ha ha. this is the best song they created for this brill series. ha ha. wonder how much of all this they would get away with now. sadly missed comedy show!!!!!!
This band is called SOX. They were a superb jazz-funk reggae mix band playing in the late 70s early 80s . I used to see them regularly at the golden lion in Fulham. Lead guitar was Gordon Hunt. When they disbanded it was a sad loss. Their set was very strong and Gordon could tell a joke and really hold an audience. The bass player was also superb, as were the rest of the band. Sadly, I cannot find any recordings other than this
I wish they had this on TV today : ( Im only 15 but i think NTNON is brilliant! They should have comedy like this on today : ) Comedy today tends to be alot more crude, which is a shame for me, i always have to be mindful of my parents. Anyway, love NTNON x xx x
@01powellj I bought the Not The Nine O'Clock News LP (the black self titled one, not Hedgehog Sandwich or The Memory Kinda Lingers) on ebay for only 5€. The Song is on this album. The only kind of annoying thing is the laughing track, which doesn't bother me that much when I see it than when I only listen to it.
No, no, mate. They are mocking british ska music. Bands like the Specials and Madness often had beats that you couldn't really dance to, so you just had to bounce up and down in time with the music (plus, the band was up there, bouncing in time with the music as well). why can't they do thing like this anymore

them and the ska scene in general I think. They did a similar thing with the new romantics and "nice video, shame about the song"
Dakatt1 3 years ago
hahah yeah i've seen that video. I haven't seen the original though.

nah I don't think there's an original, it's parodying the new romantic movement rather than any one group
