  • wtf i dont have wierd hair, thats kinda rude tbh.

  • your accent is so awesome LOL

ps. what nationality are you ?

  • You are very funny and I like you...By the way your looks are nothing different from a zillion guys...but my brother in law is an Aspie and he does have weird hair..well more the way he does it not the hair itself. Go to a good hairdresser lol and get an update if you think its weird. Go for it and be daring.

  • Your face is very expressive for someone with Asberger's. The people I've met with it tend to be kind of expressionless and talk like they've been practicing what to say. You're very entertaining.

  • i have aspergers and i don't have stupid hair..

  • you always make me laugh :) and the 'hat' suits you lol.

    hope your mum is okay.

  • dude, i think i have Asperger, i could swear it! would ya help me??? would ya explain me the facts of an aspie? im pretty sure of it.

first it was nice to know a way to explain the way i am.

but now, i feel depressed, like no one understands me... i wish people knew what is like...

  • it is something indescribable, a shimmer of an expression. My son has it but I don't, both undiagnosed as yet but I believe he has and I am a very likely candidate. When I heard of aspies being accused of looking sad or morbid I went to myself, oh fuck, story of my life lol but now I am really pleased that in a way I know why this is and I can tell someone now why this is. Get a vegan hat (please) ;) no wool, no fur no fake fur either cos most is really cat fur or dog fur, Just an idea :)

  • I quite like your hair... and there allways diffrent ends of the spectrum. My fiancé is shore and had big muscly arms... and admitedly, wierd hair, but thats becuase its naturaly rebelious, and my outher friend... tall lanky with one hell of an awesome beard...

  • dude, you are hilarious. great sense of humor.

  • I find you very attractive, for what it's worth. :) I was just thinking that while I was watching another video of yours, and I was sort of shocked to hear you say you don't like your appearance.

  • i like your hair,

    i think your very handsome,

  • I have aspergers but i also have gigantism so i dont know if i look the same

  • Many doctors have said that people with AS are often very beautiful. sad beautiful faces!

  • @englishrose3000 While that may be true for most aspies, it was certainly not the case for me. At one stage, I became so obsessed with my appearance that any slight deviation from my preferred "look" resulted in meltdown. I seemed to pay particular attention to my hair, and if it didn't look the way that I'd always had it, I would physically pull at it in frustration. Bizarre, right? Now that I'm out of high school, it doesn't concern me the way it had in the past, but it can still be a problem.

  • you are very handsome . I'm a teacher and to tell you the truth kids with AS are often the best looking people in the classroom. But your right there is something off but its because they don't really care about what they look like the way other people do .

other people learn how to control their looks and AS don't think this is a choice.

  • I'm an aspie I look good muscular check my vid of after effects you can see me. You need someone or something to tell you to eat. I have a g/f who feeds me or i tend to forget to eat for more then 24 hours untill i feel weak.

  • Oh, and to the poster a few pages back that suggested InjuredMinds was being "obsessive"; I think that a very large part of AS involves being curious to the point of obsession, and that most aspies are seekers of facts by nature.

It may be our way of understanding ourselves, beyond the superficial surface rendered in mirrors and the like. Besides which, it is incredibly fascinating; I can't seem to get enough information on my aspie kin :)

  • btw is it even possible to link to other websites on youtube?? I have the address, but the comment box doesn't allow numbers and such, I just get "Error, please try again". I learnt how to create links at school a long time ago, but seem to have forgotten :(

  • Anyone interested in this topic really needs to check out this webpage I found on the rdos website . . .

Sorry, I don't know how to link to websites (very un-aspie-like, I know). Anyway, it's an article from a study conducted in the Netherlands that implies that aspies' faces may align closely with that of Neanderthals. Prominent noses, chins, brows, deep-set eyes, arched eyebrows, fuller lower lips and thinner upper lips = Neanderthal facial traits. My face fits this profile EXACTLY!

  • @Protocultist - No way me too haha! People always tell me i have a 'roman' nose. But i do agree with english rose3000's comment - a high proportion of people i meet with aspergers are really attractive or good looking, but i think some of it is their kind of energy, they give of some kind of charmingness without trying to which is probably why its attractive??

  • goes into a judgment is the way someone looks in said motion...so maybe part of the aspie look has more to do with the way in which an aspie may carry him/herself. It really does speak more than words when someone comes into a room with his shoulder slumped and looking toward the ground vs. someone with their back straight and chest out. But aside from the motion or body language, it is true that aspies may look a bit interesting due to the lack of social imitation. Just a thought, thanks!

  • Hi, I just watched this video, and even though it isn't too very recent, I thought I'd comment. I haven't been diagnosed with anything but I believe I lie somewhere on the border of what is considered AS. I, too, have weird hair (long, curly, black) and people have asked me before if I was punched in the face because of my dark marks under my eyes. Anyway I think there is some truth to your theory but I wanted to add that when we see someone, we are seeing them in motion, and part of what...

  • I'm an aspy - proud to say.

  • You are so right when I was watching other videos about people with Asperger's and they have the same big forehead, lines under the eyes, and small wrists. I have also noticed that since I also have Asperger's that I have that same "look".

    "Jeans? Yenes? What?" hahah

  • @luttje101 Too bad this is a mandatory watch on youtube, even if the topic doesn't concern you. That's right, you HAVE to watch this. I know, I don't know why either.

  • @InjuredMinds ;)(:

  • @InjuredMinds was that irony? isn't that weird from an aspie?

  • @chasedbyfaun We're awkward, not stupid. x.x

  • @InjuredMinds oh yeah? what's the difference then between an Asperger's person and a social phobic/someone with social anxiety disorder?

  • @chasedbyfaun You don't HAVE to dislike people just because you have Asperger's. It's just one of the most common symptoms. In fact, I know of a lot of standup comedians that have clear signs of AS yet they stand on a stage in front of people with no problem.

    Plus, I don't get anxious around people, I just don't like it. There's a difference. x.x

  • @luttje101 : lol

  • You look like Ethan Hawke if he had AS.

  • So as you are saying is that all aspergers have a common appearence as downs have a common appearance to each others?

  • @Syeal7 I would say no, but I would also say that a lot of us have this expression in our face or something about our gaze that can be very, very similar.

The things(the parts of his body) InjuredMinds is talking about is most likely just things he don't like about his own body and has nothing to do with how a general Asperger looks :P

  • Having asperger means having the right brain but the wrong appearance. But its not the appearance that the human eye sees but the appearance that the human senses catches.

  • I love watching your videos! You make me laugh so much. Its nice to see somebody with Aspergers syndrome so comfortable with who they are, if anybody thinks we're all depressed and frustrated all of the time they should watch some of your videos to realise we do have a sense of humour and we can enjoy life even though our view of it might be a bit bizarre. Your videos are truly an education.

Re the way you look you really remind me of the actor Gary Oldman but you're better looking.

  • wait, if by calling me ugly, he's a douche, and if douche-bags get girls...

    ...

    Profit!

  • "what a douche he's calling me ugly" LOLLLL.. i understand what you're saying. i like how you're explaining this! i get it how you can't put your finger on it. in my opinion, and i have AS too, it's almost as if there's a certain look in their eyes

  • Idk too many people with asperger's and are not scrawny, such as my self.

  • I like your channel very well. Thanks for that. :)

  • Skinny wrists have to do with being slight of build, as opposed to medium or stocky build. Are Aspies typically slight of build? I have no idea, but I don't get the sense that Temple Grandin is slight, her build seems more average to stocky/strong.

  • @HowDareThey1970 Temple grandin had autism not asperger's maybe that rule doens't apply to the pure form of autism

  • @justsomeguy2756 Some sources say she has Asperger's. I"ll have to give her most updated book a quick review to see what Dx she currently regards as credible.

  • lol my wrists are very skinny but my weight is really weird I have been under weight twice (i once had anorexia when I was 7) and i have been obese twice atm i'm the right weight but only just started going back up as I have lost 2 1/2 stone over the last 6 months but i'm on my way back up. lol i'm also obsessed with my hair my mate has noticed this but its my own style that i do it and he asks why it bothers me so much because of this reason. (not sure if it looks good to him)

  • I think you look attractive and so is your accent.

  • 8:01... Prevalent?

    I agree with your theory:

Clothes (Plain): A product of modesty

    Eyes (tired)

Physique: Lack of muscle, Skinny wrists: a product of persistent diligence

I see how they could all relate to a way of thinking(rather than genetics).

Can people spot it. I think yes. They will have the view of "there's something about him", or "he' s weird, childish" (It could be misinterpreted as many things)

It stems from sticking resolutely to values of honesty despite scrutiny.

  • @4Teddybears People keep saying to not judge a book by it's cover but like that comedian said whom I can't remember the name of now: that's how you judge a book! You pick it up and look at the cover before you read it.

Normal people just do it subconciously.

  • @InjuredMinds

Yes, I think we are all that way initially, but It is when you have suffered as a result of judgement, that you will be more conscious of judging others.

  • @InjuredMinds hahh exactly. I saw a thing last month about neurolinguistics and a study in England concerning the author Agatha Christie. Her books are more read because she utilizes the subliminal repetitions of concepts and individual words which entrance neurotypicals; but for us aspies, we instantly notice those repetitions and are not enthralled by them; instead, we are annoyed oftentimes. ARe you a Swede, living in Sweden? I like your face. I like your hair. To me, you resemble Cary Elwes!

  • @InjuredMinds 8:00- I think maybe you are trying for the words, 'subset with oftentimes similar qualities'. You state a lot of things which I have pondered long about. I would very much like to speak with you, if you are interested.

  • Hello InjuredMinds. I think you're really funny and I love your video. The editing really adds to the humor.

  • i walk a bit odd i wear dark glasses dont like noise or to much sun..jeff

  • Yes, some people are automaticaly able to tell that there is something "off" about me.

  • I've been told I had dark circles under my eyes as young as three. I always had trouble sleeping.

  • I keep my hair in a ponytail and have AS but then I am a chick. Ponytails seem to be acceptable on females.

  • I think you look quite attractive.

  • Dude, not only do you look like Balthier, you're also just as entertaining.

  • hey what kind of video camera do you use for these videos? It seems to work great, and your videos don't have that crappy video camera look

  • having skinny hands is good for a chef to have i thought?

  • I have the lines b/c I used to be an insomniac and stress does a lot of damage too

  • My hair has been a lifelong source of distress and dispair.

  • I've always looked "sad". I only know this because of all the times my parents, siblings, teachers, and other kids, would bother me with "what's wrong?" when all I was doing was thinking, or watching flowers grow, or whatever. I still sometimes get comments from people that I look "mopy" or "moody". Though, anymore, I am those things, because I've been trying to figure out what's "wrong" with me. Rather... What is it that makes me not fit in/different? I guess Aspies look "intense" somehow. (?)

  • @jonandra I'm the same way, everyone's always saying that I always look depressed

  • I have mutated arm wrist things too :P

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, you have a very good point about the way Aspies look influencing the way people judge them and that we do not have the correct facial expressions because we do not pick up on them. I have also heard that some of us have problems with fine motor skills and low muscle mass. This could cause us to seem clumsy and awkward. I know I can never gain muscle or weight no matter how hard I try and I have always had very bad poster. (I have that bump on my arm too) :)

  • I love your videos. I'm addicted. :)

  • To me you look like the bad guy from The Fifth Element.

  • @DirectQuestion Dude! I love that guy! He's my evil genius role model!

  • Aww, don't be so self-conscious, you look just fine to me.

  • You look pretty normal to me.The only thing I suspected on the basis of your looks is that you're scandinavian.

  • how far do u think movies like ADAM n MY NAME IS KHAN portrayed aspergers authentically???

  • I believe you're thinking about this too much (obsessed?) My son was finally diagnosed Aspergers but we've been living with his Aps. behaviors for years & have suspected Asp for aprox a year now (we researched it) My son is 8 now & he does have odd face expressions, but I believe most people see his Aspberger "Odd" behaviors & that's when they wonder about him. People do like him because he's a sweet boy & funny, but he annoys his peers with his Asp behavior. Don't worry so much, You look OK!

  • they have pills for that :P

  • Your hands are very nice :)

    Like a musician.

  • it's all right to have a giant one, but i must say it's a little uncomfortable to see it in the middle of our conversation. some things should only come up in the privacy of your own home from now on. k linus? no matter how much your cock.yness wants to pop up and say hello.

  • @420kdougs I'm a guy, I can't control things like that. x.x Sometimes I just get it all up in peoples faces by accident.

    ............. waaaait a minute. lol

  • By the way I think it's important to point out that the reason evil characters in Disney movies are perceived as "evil looking" MAY be because people watched Disney movies when they were kids and built their internal reference frames based on what the evil characters looked like! It's a vicious circle.

  • I was talking about "mirror neurons". They do the same thing whether you perform some movement yourself or observe other people perform it. Deficiency seems to be linked with autism.

  • well i was gonna say a bit crude, but male works too. then again, most guys lie. so your "maleness" must come from something exterior. maybe it's the beard! hmmm...

  • @420kdougs My beard isn't that manly actually. The only thing that's manly on me is my giant cock.yness. Oh, I'm sorry, did I accidentally put a period in there?

  • haha brilliant video, I have those type of hands & wrist but worse, I also have a highish harline, I wax mine down usually because my hair is so damn fine.

People tend to think I look about 4 years younger than I am which I find annoying. It's possible to build some muscle but I still don't have a millimetre of fat however much I eat.

  • @Chris16T20 You're not alone, Chris. I've constantly been mistaken as years younger than I am (in my teens & early 20's it was the most annoying to have people assume I was a child, but in my late 20's, early 30's, to be mistaken for a teenager or college-age actually felt flattering)!

I've always had bony wrists & fingers just like Adkit's, & it irritates me to wear a ring on any but my forefinger, due to the rings constantly slipping from the base of my fingers to the knuckles & back.

  • lol yea i could see where that'd be a problem. if it makes you feel better, i realized you weren't all cuddly wuddly once you opened your mouth to talk :)

  • @420kdougs Oh right, because of all the foul, dirty stuff that comes out of my mouth. :P It's like "hm, I guess he IS male after all".

  • yay you made a video! :D i get what you're saying about aspies looking alike. i think another trait aspie faces have in common are the eyes. i've noticed that they usually have a stare that looks like they're looking past something. maybe cuz we're thinking about something else? idk. also they tend to look more innocent and child-like. you still look cute sick. go rest up so i can see more videos :)

  • @420kdougs I guess looking cute and having innocent eyes are related, it's one of those weird problems because I don't have a cute and innocent personality so I don't want people to think I'm all cuddly-wudly. :,( *puppydogeyes*

  • I'll send my hat to a nice safe place in Sweden wherein you may pick it up and enjoy it. And I have the same ludicously large lump on my wrist and the back of my neck.

  • P.S. I hope your mom is OK. I lost my Stepmother last Saturday.

  • @AllenRockwell I'm sorry to hear that. :/

  • I think people with AS look a bit different because we do not really care so much about appearances because we don't really understand how/why people react to appearances.

Sometimes people AS sometimes learn that people react a certain way to certain looks and we try to acquire that look to solicit that reaction ... but we usually fail in the attempt and them just look strange again.

  • i played soccer today at my school for kids with special needs linus! we lost 1 to 3 but at least we had fun :D

  • i look weird because i dont care enough to make myself look good to pleace other people

  • I have aspergers syndrome. Was diagnosed in '96.

  • Yeah I have the hairline problem too. Though the thing with the eyes, I think it's where aspies have the outer corners of their eyes sort of drooping downward.

  • If Michael Jackson had AS - may your theory explain why he changed his apperance? I find this very interesting, you should write an article about this...

  • @mamalusk Well, there's just obscure disease that actually turns your skin white, receeds your gums and makes you unable to stay out in the sun. They think that disease is what started all the myths about vampires. And they think Michael Jackson have it. But nobody knows, it's just theories. :P

    He is aspie-special though. x.x A bit too aspie-special.

  • I knew a couple of aspies back in school. I mean that knew they were aspies and were kind enough to tell me about what that means. The only thing I noticed that seemed different about them was that they were particularly sharp dressers! This one guy always had his hair really tidy and insisted on wearing a plaid shirt and brown pants with suspenders... looked like something that stepped out of the 30's... And you're a sharp dresser, too, with the vest and the hat! But that's all that I can tell.

  • Whenever I watch your Let's Play videos, I will now imagine you wearing candy as a hat.

Things like speech, social intelligence, and decision-making don't come from the reptilian brain. If they are unique to mammals or humans, they are near the front of the brain which has evolved more recently.

  • @m1foley It's Fimo, it's not candy. :P It's like clay used for sculptin-oh whatever.

It's kind of debatable though to say that speech and social intelligence doesn't come from the reptile brain since the instincts that govern those things DO come from the reptile brain. I'm no expert so it's mostly my own theory here but the core things that normal people do by instinct are things that they do because their reptilian instincts tell them to. Aspies miss that somehow.

  • I kind of agree with your point about how certain people grow up to look a certain way. They look and act in a way that is considered to be a stereotype. Weird how that's true.

  • Dude, I totally get you ... I just realized (again) that 500 chars are way to few to make a comment ... to make my point ... or whatever !!!

Well, I totally get you ... just to make it short

I could comment that on pretty much every of your posts ... today I just did ...

    Kind Regards from germany

PS. it already took ~200 chars (this PS excluded) to make it short ... boy do I get you

    lol ;-)

PS2 well if I have about 100+ characters left, I might as well use 'em ....dum-di-dum.............EOF

  • nice "hat". ;)

i have to disagree that there's are particular physical looks for aspies. i think it's more of a body language/facial expression aspect. still enjoyed the video, though.

  • 08:07 - Prolific ;)
