I love this game! I played Banjo-Tooie first, and I think Banjo-Tooie is alot bigger and better than this game, but I still think this game is excellent. One thing Banjo-Kazooie has over Banjo-Tooie is that I can play the game over and over and over again without getting tired of it, but if I try to play Banjo-Tooie again right after beating it, I just say, "*groan* This game is too long to play all over again!"
I don't have Banjo Kazooie, but I do know what the whole stop and swap thing is about. Apparently, when you get one of the items Mumbo tells you about, you have to take out the game cartridge with the console still on and place Banjo Tooie in the cartridge slot, which transfers the items from one game to the other. Transferring them all and completing certain objectives will unlock Gingo in multiplayer mode.
Close, but very good for not having Banjo-Kazooie. A better video that explains it is Thumbsupmaster's video Stop & Swop theory. It'll explain even more. The reason it was dropped was because newer versions of the N64 didn't have the Ram time delay thing that the first N64 models had so they just couldn't do it... sad.
Thanks. Oh, and I have to say this. I understand that Rare was trying to have gamers enjoy both games at the same time using stop and swap, but the whole Gingo thing I found disappointing. You have to go through all the pain of taking out and putting in different game cartridges and all you get is an unlockable character. If I were Rare, I would have given a much bigger reward, just for all the hard work.
I'm sorry to hear this scared you as a kid but it's really worth playing, the only scary thing in this game is snacker the disappearing-reappearing shark and his theme. Actually those secrets fruastrated everyone who knew about them when the game came out and all the details about what happened are still a mystery to this day. Though I do hope you give this game a try because it's so good that I'm planning to redo this review to make it look as good as it really is.
Kazooie shooting eggs from...well, let's say "the rear..." is always funny!
BTW, did anyone know Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts 'n' Bolts was supposed to have voice acting? I do! I also know that voice acting was scrapped for the traditional mumblings!
I personally never had this game. My cousin did (or heck, maybe he still does) and I had the sequel. While I do remember the sequel being tons of fun, the original does look better!
You can bet that this is one of the games I'm most desperate to get once I get an N64!
I've been doing that lately too, playing it all the way through to the end. I saw the promotional video that you can find on youtube now, but when it came out and I was younger, that's what really made me want to get Banjo-Kazooie.
Maybe, Maybe not. There are still rumors that Rare wants to do a remake of Banjo-Kazooie on the DS. Rare still has contacts with Nintendo so don't rule anything out just yet.
That is funny, you left a comment here 4 months ago XD. That's funny to me. But I can't review games I don't have footage for... or haven't played. :(
Only two problems with that. 1.) I wouldn't know how to record it and then send it to my program, second, I feel a little stupid for saying this but I want to play the real game and not a copy.
A 1!!!!!! That's ok we're none of us perfect XD. It's not rude, just a matter of opinion, Mario 64 will always be known as the foundation of 3-D platforming and it was great, but in my opinion Banjo used Mario as a springboard to go higher and do more than the original.
It's up to Nintendo to put them on the virtual console not Rare, the only reason they can't put Goldeneye up there is because of all the different comapanies that have a right to that game. According to an old IGN article Rare said themselves that it was Nintendo's decision not theirs and they didn't want to put them on the XBOX live arcarde with extra features because that would take time away from their development on Nuts and Bolts.
omg I had no idea about killing that shark =) This game rocks!! But actually I think tooie was better, it was harder but with a nintendo guide it was soooo fun. Too bad threeie is gonna suck =(
I wish I could say that but that's the problem and a big shocker... I didn't get the chance to play Banjo-Tooie, Come on NINTENDO RARE said it was up to you to release those on the vitrual console, release it already so I can review it!
Are you tryin to say that it is released? :S, check Ebay if not cause banjo tooie is a must buy must play must own experience. And in my oponion the best game ever made! Sure donkey kong 64 may share that spot :P. If u get it I would like a cool review about it too :D
I'm only going to download it for the virtual console, it's cheaper, it's easier, and I can play it in 480P HD. I just wish Nintendo would release them already.
For some reason it screams "Shadow the Hedgehog" to me. I don't like the idea either, they should have stayed in the traditional platforming element that made it so great in the first place. However since I haven't played it yet it's too early to know if it will be good or bad, having said that I still don't like the direction they took.
it's gonna be good, it's just a totally different genre, so yeah it's dissapointing because i want platforming, but it's still gonna be one of rare's best games in a while.
Yeah I've seen the graphics for the third game but in all honesty the look does actually fit the characters better, I didn't like the "block" look at first but I think this style looks better than if they choose cel-shaded. I think we should start calling him "Blocko".
I understand how you feel completely, that happened to me lots of times before I it finally let me upload my reviews, try to convert it to Windows Media Video format if you have windows, for my opinions on Nuts and Bolts I have a video about that if you want to take a look at it.
you might just have to buy a new program that will let, not a new computer but a new software, that's what I did even if the thing won't let me upload dvd content unless it's over 10 minutes long and doesn't tell me that.
Wait to see if it comes out on the vitural console, from what I've heard it's not up to Rare, its up to Nintendo. That way it's a lot cheaper, in fact I remember hearing a rumor that they would make a remake for it on the DS, nothing else has been said about that though. :(

Aw Cute. Sounds like you started to get frustrated towards the end talking about the Secrets.
I've always wanted to continue playing the game, your review makes me want to EBay it :P
But... as a child. I was hella afraid of the game :(

I think there are only 4 enemies that cannot be killed in this game. Big Butt, Whiplash, Snarebear, and Grimlit
jmario232 2 years ago
I think you can kill Whiplash, that's that swinging whip thing right? yeah you can kill that, the others you mentioned nope can't kill them.

This game is better than Mario 64. Mario 64 is overrated.
Link4587452 3 years ago
It's better, but Mario 64 is definitely not overated, it set the foundation that led up to Banjo-Kazooie.
cjszero01 3 years ago
But everyone says it's the best platformer ever and always compare others to Mario 64. I'm tired of hearing about Mario 64.
Link4587452 3 years ago
That's only opinion and if you have to respect others opinions if you want them to respect yours.
cjszero01 3 years ago
This game was the shit and is still the shit. I play it on my N64 still. Screw Nuts & Bolts.
Link4587452 3 years ago
There's something about Banjo-Kazooie that you won't find in other games.
UltimateEnd0 3 years ago

The entire Donkey Kong Country triology is on the Virtual Console, I see no reason why they wouldn't put DK64 on there.

"in a while" yes, excellent phrase to use. That I'll believe, I just don't think it'll be as good as the tradional platformers.
cjszero01 3 years ago
i heard that there changing the graghics to a more cartoony kind of look.(which sucks) and wtf did the do the banjo! he's all blocks in the 3rd game!
