  • @JCityBeatz.... If you want to use the whole loop just use the Nurse Rex as your generator. If you just want a slice of a loop, use NN-Nano, double click a loop and the slices can be loaded just like WAV files...

  • hey bro how did you make your samples to sustain kuz im using kong with the mpd 18 also but when i hit a pad the sample only plays as longest i hold down the pad.. i would apreciate it if u messaged me back thnk you!! and keep rocking!!!!! oh and how did you im port your rex file on kong ? kuz when i do it it builds a Dr. octo Rex by its self.. ????

  • Very cool

  • reason 5 is so wicket that it change my life around. Only friends i have these days is my Propellerhead sofware and my family. Now that's music peace

  • @UnratedMovies - Using Reason 5's KONG device you can load WAV files directly and assign them to the pads. Super easy using the mini nano player device.

  • Holy F*ck!

this is the best ive heard o.O

Im thinking of buying this beatuy + The Keyrig 49

Do you recommend The AKAI MPD18 for me who's a beginner,

    & one more Question.

How do you add audio pieces from for example a movie in to the Akai? (PADS)

  • @UnratedMovies chop up the samples in ReCycle then export the chops as rex files into Reason (if you're using Reason) and you can load them up on to your mpd controller from there.

The process is unfortunately a bit long winded. If you can afford it, you might want to consider buying an mpc...saves all the hassle of using programs like ReCycle to chop samples.

  • @LinxAudio I'd skip the ReCycle step. I just used KONG and the mini nano player to load the WAV files directly in. You can change their loop mode (hold, loop, one-shot, etc.) from within it... and it had the added benefit of effects... two per loop, easily assignable.

  • @kgwilso Cool!

I haven't used Reason 5 yet, so I didn't realise you could do that with it.

Looks like I will get it now after all!

  • @UnratedMovies did u get a response? coincidentally im here looking for answers, i bought both an mpd18 and keyrig 49 off craigslist but now having trouble getting them to work. Im a beginner more or less. I downloaded drivers but still cant figure this out and my producer friend isnt free for a few days to help. Any help appreciated! This beat is sick btw now im extra mad sitting next to my silent drum pads lol

  • @tanheavy you have to activate it with you'r music program , for example Reason 5, have you done that?

if not there are turorials on youtube how to "hook your midi drumpad up on Reason 5" search that and they will show you how, if thats not the problem i don't know sorry! :(

  • @UnratedMovies i have been looking but it led me to this! lol - it's still not working yet!!! but using Bome's Mouse Keyboard i have made some tracks using the pre-prog'd drum kits and my samples. Actually came out WAY better than i thought. The bome will be good for travel. Basically I chose the same out driver and in driver with BOME and that plays, but with the keyrig49 and mpd18, what would i use to get the midi out? esp the keyboard. Im clueless. will keep searching

  • nice!

  • Dope man. Love it

  • Sure, I'll post an mp3 at my blog; avclub.us sometime tomorrow.

  • Um this is amazing. lol. I just picked up my MPD18 today, and i'm having a blast. lol. is there any chance that you recorded this into any kind of format that i could listen to this somewheres other than youtubez? because it's clever as hell and but together nicely. And The Princess Bride clips? CLASSIC. lol
