"pink slime is made from the fatty sweepings from the slaughterhouse floor, which are notoriously rife with pathogens like E. coli 0157 and antibiotic-resistant salmonella. Once swept up, the scraps are sent through a series of machines, which grinds them into a paste, separates out the fat, and laces the substance with a mixture of water and ammonia (ammonium hydroxide) to kill those pathogens"
As long it has the same flavor, I'm game :) Weber Grills are awesome and have been around forever.. I'm sure it's an excellent product... Thanks for the heads up!
i dont care how high/low the temperature on the inside is.. when i can smell the good grilled dead cow's aroma i'm good to get a chow down yeeeehaaaww
A lot of people buy hamburger based upon price rather than quality. If you grind your own meat you can buy what ever cut you want and blend them however you want to. You don't have to buy a ton of meat. Just figure out how much per person will eat and go from there. You could buy from a butcher. Just buy a pound of chuck, a half pound of sirloin and a half pound of flank steak to make 4 large burgers, or 6 medium or 8 small ones. Your friends & family will think they're eating in a restaurant!
I don't like an overcooked burger either. I usually grind my own meat, sometimes several different cuts. 50% chuck, 25% sirloin & 25% flat iron steak will make a flavorful, juicy burger to impress your guests. I buy organic from a local butcher shop. I pay a little more per pound but I trust the meat enough to eat a medium rare burger that tastes like steak & not greasy at all. You take your chances with E. coli if you buy prepackaged meat from those big chain stores.
I've never been great at not bbqing a good burger... i know with steak you generally put on high flame for about 5-6 mins per side without touching but what's the key to cook a good burger ?
@norb1937 I've owned a gas grill in the past, and that's why I will never own one again..... I'd rather put more time into it and have more flavor... Stop being lazy!!!
@VirginiaBeachNative I've had charcoal grills and habachi grills in the past and will never own them again. And its not a question of being lazy. I worked for a gas co for 33 years. One of the things they sold was a gas grill without a tank. They simply piped natural gas to the gas grill and all the customers loved them.
@VirginiaBeachNative One guy told me when he quit smoking food tasted better. I had to quit smoking last year and the food does not taste any better. When my wife got sick people were telling her that God does'nt give you anything you cant handle. So after 5 years of doctors, hospitals and tests shes in the cemetery 11 years. So who is full of shit and whats true?
@VirginiaBeachNative By the way. How do you get hamburgers to hold together. Mine fell apart when I had the charcoal grill and they fall apart with the gas grill also. What do you use some edible adhesive?
@norb1937 also try putting shaped patties in the fridge for at least half an hr, it really makes them more solid. n remember to dust the plates with flour so that they don't stick. xx
@VirginiaBeachNative I see you're only 34. Gee you've lived a long time and accumulated lots of experience. You must be a gourmet. As for me I'm a gourmond.
@norb1937 Yes, I'm 34, and that is plenty enough time for me to know that charcoal grills put out much more flavor then gas grills... Stop replying to me, spend more time on charcoal knowledge :)
@VirginiaBeachNative unless you are using a WEBER with flavorizer bars over the burners ! in a blind taste test cooking strip steaks, 7-10 people chose the Weber gas grill over the Charcoal grill, boy were they wrong..these were die hard charcoal users.
Finally....someone who knows how to make a burger. All these bozos on YouTube with their "perfect burger" recipes make all the classic mistakes: they overhandle the meat and they press down with the spatula and squeeze all the juice out. This video is finally right. I mean, how simple can you get? Everyone tries to reinvent the wheel, when a burger is already perfect. Kudos!
Hamburgers are not german. In Germany, if you think about Burgers, you've the USA in mind. We do not have a Hamburger-fastfood-culture-style in Germany as you have there in the States. Well, we have this Wopper and Big Mäc stuff here too, but its not a real german thing ...
well i have a mini plug in grill in my how so all i did was put black pepper larrys season meat tenderizer and waited till is started to brown put some ketchup on it and it tasted bass ass to me you have to go all that crap
the frank and the burger originated in germany from a butcher who used left over minced meat(chuck) when times were hard and many people couldnt afford better cuts of meat in the late 1800s
not even America is All American, let alone a food originated in Germany. Americans have no food culture compared to France, Turkey, Italy or Japan etc.
I was told by a competetive bbq'r that one of the best ways to produce a good burger is to not to pack the meat to tightly. It was mentioned here but but needs to be highlighted. Also, when I cook them I pick the fattiest meat that I can find.. Why? because I just don't care. :-)
back then people in the town of hamburg, germany were made up of many immigrants. these people started grilling pieces of beef and eating them with bread and since this was fairly cheap, it became popular pretty quickly
this is according to wikipedia- The term hamburger originally derives from the German city of Hamburg[2], Germany's second largest city, from where many emigrated to America. In the late eighteenth century, the largest ports in Europe were in Germany. Sailors who had visited the ports of Hamburg, Germany and New York, brought this food and term "Hamburg Steak" into popular usage

lol, I just use costo burgers and i just season them with pepper salt and a tiny bit of garlic salt. Then I just let it sit for like 10 mins and then flip them when it has blood on top, or when it looks good enough. Ive cooked like 500 burgers and so far, only 1 has kinda sucked because I pressed it a lot
You and that other fucking idiot must be the biggest fucking idiots around. You think you just fry it and it's good? If you want an actual taste, then you watch this, if you want to eat it like a fucking caveman, go for it, but don't waste your time talking shit. You could've been eating a burger when you typed that shit.
@mastereismaname of course you have to say that. remember we're talking about Americans. If they get some disease from eating from a dirty plate, they will blame you for not telling them to use a clean plate, and then they will sue you.
I'm really sorry, but these things freak me out sooo much!

@mastereismaname ah shit...I forgot...I used a dirty one :(

@mastereismaname of course you have to say that. remember we're talking about Americans. If they get some disease from eating from a dirty plate, they will blame you for not telling them to use a clean plate, and then they will sue you.
