  • May Robert R.I.P..

  • Bloody unreal , can never tire of hearing this . I thank God that i lived through such a great era ,, Luv ,,,Australia .

  • superb! performance!

  • superb! performance!

  • they still play really well.good video. CARL

  • Ventures are Fantastic !

    Thumbs up.

  • thats some kick ass rhythm guitar playing!

  • Great to see them out there, isn't it? Kind of reminds me about the way our parents thought about their music, right?

  • Its like the Ventures are Manchester United and The Shadows are Sheffield United. I went to school in Sheffield and they are dear to my heart, but they are not in Manchester's Class.

  • I know all about the Shadows. I have two of their cd's. They are good but not in the same league as the Ventures. the Shadows would not have made it on their own. They made it because of their fame as a part of Cliff Richards group. By the way on one of your comments yesterday You said Dick tale it is actually Dick Dale.

  • @Tubbyduff Be careful I have been banned from some channels for saying things like that so much for American free speech

  • @fincaman2

maybe in the USA,but we in Germany prefere freedom for speech ;)

    my channel is international ;)

  • @Tubbyduff

crap is a bit harsh, imho its nr3 after shadows, spotnicks, but their long sucess shows, ppls like them

  • @sirpeter1946 The Ventures enjoyed popularity and success in the US/Japan during 1960s. With over 110 million albums sold worldwide, they remain the best selling instrumental rock group of all time. 38 Ventures albums charted in the US, and 6 of 14 chart singles made it into the Top 40, with 3 making it into the Top 10. Of their 38 albums 34 of them occurred in the 1960s, and The Ventures rank as the 6th best pop album performer for that decade, according to "Joel Whitburn's Top Pop Albums".

  • @Tubbyduff Sorry to disagree, I would say different styles, both great bands.

  • What planet is this anouncer from The Shadows are the greatest ever with a string of no 1's I find this performance embarrassing

  • @fincaman2 The Shadows are a joke! Nothing more than Cliff Richards back up band!!!

  • @corky1864 Plus, the Ventures inspired just about every other instrumental and surf guitar group.

  • @StoogeWatcher

lol they was a copy of dick tale and other beach bands

  • @sirpeter1946 true? not!

  • @corky1864

this shows me,u dont even know them

their real success startet 1959 after they left cliff and only played occasional with him since then

and startet by theirself their giant career

  • Have always loved the "Surf" guitar sound!

  • Did the lead guitar and bass used to share instruments?. I saw another video where the bass player is playing the lead in Walk Don't Run.

  • @chalan55

yes all 3 guitarist often switch

  • They were way overdue for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. And to all those who attack the oldies, try finding a rapper or boy band still performing after 20 years, let alone 50.

  • I notice that Bob Bogle look quite sick.I gues the cancer had started affecting him then.

  • Just amazing- these guys could trade off on guitar and bass like it was the most natural thing in the world. Fantastic band, I love them. Myabe the best band ever.

  • Just amazing- these guys could trade off on guitar and bass like it was the most natural thing in the world. Fantastic band, I love them.

  • Could you tell me the name of the guitar played by Bob Bogle in this video?

    really nice. Thanks

  • F'n GOD BLESS'M.....

  • Nice little --what do you call it? --drum fill??-- before Perdida.

  • Like the ventures and thanx for the memories but as No1 the Shadows were and always will be #1

  • BOB BOGLE ROCKS.

    R.I.P.

    (ROCK IN PEACE)

  • Don can seriously jam... his daughter is Hot too

  • Good ones

  • This is sooooooooooo cool! Bob Bogle still RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • very lovely band which remind me back to 50 years ago

  • Great old guys!!! They still rock!!!

  • This song is Bob, i mean, he plays it way better than Nokie. Long Live the Ventures!

  • Don Wilson is like a machine on that guitar. He completely holds down the rhythm.

  • i have to agree and i always admired them for the lead guitar.does anyone out there have ventures sleigh ride?

  • I guess after you have done it 10,000 times you get pretty good at it.

  • Bob taught me that badass speed guitar solos existed long before Hendrix. He was an immense guitarist, I couldn't believe it when I found out he'd gone. RIP Bob Bogle.

  • RIP Bob. What a legend.

  • The Ventures set the standard for surf music. I just saw these shitty nerds called the pyronauts playing walk dont run and it was nauseating. Ick. But THIS IS THE SONG THAT I REMEMBER!

  • @surfguitarman101 Nice job of putting a little 'ray of sunshine' among a lot of positive comments. Bob Bogle & The Ventures were a class act, you are a fucking punk.

  • Really something to cherish--after all these years. 1968 (at 11) I seen it played by a band in Baguio, Phil, while vacationing there--& it was very enlightening for me--and 4 years later I taught myself how to play a guitar--This was very instrumental to my inspiration.

    Thank you--Ventures.

& thanks for posting one of my favorite all time tunes.

  • THE VENTURES RULE!!!!!!!

  • Ventures you are one soul you will never die.

  • Truly magical - this music will live on.

    RIP Bob Bogle.

  • R.I.P. Bob Bogle. Thanks for the memories.

  • RIP Bob you were a great Player you will be misssed! Thats so great that Mels son Joined the band a power house Drummer and Don Great also Nokie you are the best too

  • Bob Boble's lead guitar is so unique.

He is the best performer of "Walk, Don't Run." Nokie, McGee, Spalding are great, but "Walk, Don't Run" belongs to Bob. Wonderful ! Flawless ! His life has been a worthwhile trip.

  • Thanks for being such an inspiration, Bob. Your music will continue to inspire future generations. Rock and Roll heaven just acquired another one of the best.

  • R.I.P. Bob Bogle. Thanks for the music and the memories. You are truly a pioneer whose sound will never be duplicated again.

These guys have been in my life since the 60s and their music is still tight to this very day. THOUSANDS of bands and artists owe their existence to The Ventures.

  • @starmedic I found their music, sadly, after the 60s.

In my defense I wasn't born until 75... but I did grow up with their music...

  • @starmedic Couldn't agree more. I heard these folks back in 1960 when Walk Don't Run came out. I was in high school at the time. It is because of the Ventures that I became interested in guitars. Thank you guys for all that you have done for me and for millions of others around the world.

  • ive just know them, and they are really great!!

    long life to the vetures!

  • The Ventures were my favorite Rock band during highschool in the mid 1960's, and I never get tired of hearing all of their classic songs.

  • The Ventures are appearing in Regina,Sask, Friday, May 29th, 2009 :-)

  • Shadow wanna bes

  • "Shadow wanna bes"

Not quite. Nobody outside of the U.K. even knows The Shadows. The Ventures are known worldwide!

  • The announcer is the great Pat O'day from Seattles premier AM rock radio station KJR where he hosted for an estimated 30yrs + -.

    YeeeeeHaaaaa

    SURFS UP !!

  • Yessssssssssssss

  • Absolute TOP-CLASS a REAL band still going after 50 years, playing proper music......

  • Whether or not they are sick of playing, I've been listening to it for about 40 years now and am FAR from being sick of hearing it. Greatest Electric Guitar instrumental of All Time.

  • Get real. Let's see if any rapper, teenybopper, or boy band today will still be performing 40 years from now.

  • nookie rules

  • i love these guys

  • Ventures are great but no one can beat the Shadows for music and showmanship

  • Don't count us "old timers" out. Way to go Ventures! =Stefan=

  • great, i can go back to the age of my 17

    thanks and more?

  • Thanks for the info. I never heard the 1969 version. Which LP is that on?

  • So which guy played the leads on the studio versions? I know that on the Ventures On Stage LP, Nokie is playing lead and Bob is on bass.

  • Bob played lead and Nokie played bass on the 1960 version. Skip Moore played the drums on that recording.

Nokie played lead on the 1964 version "Walk, Don't Run '64" and I guess he also did on the 1977 disco version, but I am not sure about that. Gerry McGee played on the 1969 version (back then he spelled his name "Jerry", by the way). There was also a "Walk, Don't Run 2000" recorded in 1999 on which Bob played lead again.

  • By the way, I am not so sure that Nokie plays lead on Walk, Don't Run on the On Stage LP, however he probably do on most of the other tunes. Usually when they are on stage, Bob plays lead on Walk, Don't Run, Perfidia and a few more tunes and Nokie plays lead on all the others. Or Gerry on the summer tours etc.

  • This is a bit complicated, since Gerry seems to be a member of the group while Nokie these days only plays with them as a "guest" on the short winter tours in Japan, and occasionally now and then in other situations.

  • In the old days didn't Nokie play lead and Bob Bogle play bass? Doesn't matter. The Ventures still rule. We miss Mel. RIP.

  • Actually, the original Ventures were Bob Bogle and Don Wilson. Nokie was a studio player, as was Howie Johnson who was the drummer. When The Ventures began to tour, Nokie and Howie became members. Howie had a serious car accident and left the group. He was replaced by Mel Taylor. As time went on, Nokie and Bob would swap bass and lead duties. Later, Nokie left the group and was replaced by Gerry McGee.

  • Bob Bogle on lead and Nokie on bass!? Back to the original format.

  • tam yarasalar gibi

  • nice

  • pefidia & walk don't run. what a fantastic medley combo. surf music rules & the Ventures rock.

  • good sound ^.^d

  • SI PERFIDIA !! >The Ventures rules !
