a really good list! my sister-girl lena horne did not do a great movie, she really doesnt belong on there. through no fault of her own. dorothy dandrige should be on there as the token black. i would have booted off marion davis. she really didnt have a great role. lynda darnell, cyd charisse should have made the cut. and especially eleanor powell is absolutely unforgettable, somebody needs to be booted off to make room for her.
Thanks for recognizing Doris Day, it's wonderful that she is alive today 8/21/11. I wish that she would accept the honorary Academy Award that has been offered to her. My other favorite Maureen O'Hara is still alive too! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS FANTASTIC VIDEO CSISWEENEYTODD !
Great video. I think TCM should have included Shirley Temple (Fox) and Eleanor Powell (MGM) considering the profits from their films helped keep their studios afloat during lean times.. Also--no Betty Grable? Surprised
MOHfan: Did you know that the stunningly beautiful Maureen O'Hara made her acting debut in Hitchcock's, Jamaica Inn? Hitchcock plays with her introduction by creating viewer anticipation on her character's ugliness.
Very nice! A shame the book didn't include others like my sweer Laraine, Joan Fontaine, Merle Oberon, Sylvia Sidney, Fay Wray, etc. You ought to make a responde to this for the 50 Leading Men.
@ILoveLaraineDay I know. They did omit quite a few. I think they should make a top 100. :) I probably will, Claire, and maybe even do a reponse with the couples too.
@GeorgiaRain7 I certainly did. :) I love it. I have all 3: the ladies, the men, and the couples. Maybe videos will come out of the other two as well. Thank you for commenting. :)
@TheBigValley Oh, I know! I wish Mary Astor and Joan Fontaine would have been included too. Picking 50 is hard to do, so I admire TCM for that. There are still so many missing: Eva Marie Saint, Vera Miles, Jane Russell, etc. I think they should create a top 100! Thank you for commenting. :)
Love Joan Crawford!

For the most part, TCM got it right. Most of my faves made the cut.

They forgot Jeanne Crain

Where's Jean Simmons? I was also expecting Patricia medina (one of my faves), but she's a relatively minor screen actress, so its okay.

Always difficult to make a list of names! Well, it would be nice to see Mary Astor and Joan Fontaine. For the rest, great characters.
