Mixing fine sand and peat is a great way to make cement for your cacti to thrive in. Take that, roots!

I use 1 part peat-based compost, 1 part soil-based compost and 1 part fine grit (not gravel or pea shingle). What would you recommend?

This is aweful. Sand is terrible for making cactus compost, especially when used in large quantities. Also, she's really clumsy. -.-
