Hey thanks- very informative! The demos nail the tones! Can I ask- there seems to be two different ideas for Hendrix's use of fuzz- totally cranked and fuzz control turned right down and level up for a boost- what do you think?
@johnstangg your lack of knowledge precedes your ignorance and own lack of musical skills but that's why opinions are like assholes since everyone has one. Unfortunately yours is larger than most.
So much fuss about handwired stuff. If you take two handwired pedals/amps/etc. of the same model and AB them they'll sound different. PCB was not made to give pedals a bad sound, it was made so every pedal would have a more consistent sound from one unit to another.
@mr4y Oh yes that's absolutely true as long as the PCB has nice thick copper traces, uses good parts instead of some of the cheaper surface mounted stuff, etc. Good point.
Hmmmm.... ill have to give the fulltone 69 a try. I have a bbe wah, voodoo lab proctavia, voodoo lab superfuzz, and a bbe soul vibe for my hendrix setup.
@ahhoiboy Super Fuzz is just not my cup of tea. Too buzzy, lacks character. More like a distortion but no oomph. The Fulltone is great because it's warm and natural and allows you to tweak the tone with the boas and contour from warm and fuzzy to blistering Purple Haze type sounds. Best Fuzz I've played and I own a real mid 60s germanium fuzz.
The original circuit is patented and owned by Dunlop, so it would not be allowed to have every single part the same or they would get sued big time. Also, when you start improving this or that with military spec this and superior performance that, it changes the character of how it sounds. I have 2 identical Shi-ei Uni-vibes made same year and one looks like it was built yesterday, that's how mint it is, yet one has the underwater sound and the other doesn't. Nothing made today does underwater.
@nznaturopath Well I've read a lot of reviews where many disagree with that but I would like to try one though since I now have 2 original 1969 Uni-VIbes it doesn't matter now. ;-)
@yes9310 Every part in the KR megavibe is interchangeable with the original univibe, right down to the exact year of the parts used. Side by side, how can it be different? Doesnt matter what another company does, you cant get the same tone if you dont make it "exactly the same". In this case with the megavibe, it "is" the real thing. HIs other pedals are tone correct, thats all i can say, but the megavibe is exact. And hey, forums are a place where uneducated people ramble, not good feedback.
hello.. how can i get a hendrix i own a vox ac15 do i need a dirt peedal? and plus fuzz face overdrive in my amp isn't really good for hendrix do you recoment anything'?
@dnnysrock well I;d recommend a good overdrive pedal like the Fulltone OCD and make sure yoru fuzz is a germanium one because silicon tends to be very bright and shrill so into a very bright amp like an AC15 would probably cause an ear bleed. Try darker speakers like greenbacks also and that could warm things up.
@19501960 Glad to help. Stay tuned for my hand wired '66 JTM 45/100 Hendrix amp exact replication of the one Jimi used with 66 parts. Just finished wiring it up tonight and sounds amazing.

@Ematched Actually, no. Truth be told it's a honey mustard type with a hint of tarragon.

"Secret stuff"? So you expect us to believe that Hendrix used Thousand Island dressing in his pedals for studio recordings?

Secret stuff? Yeah, you don't know what it was
