This is a fantastic video that I have used in my Physics lessons when we can't get hold of dry ice. Your video has made a difference to hundreds of budding young scientists as it really captured their imaginations and helped them understand more about sublimation. Thank you very much on their behalf
With your little air hockey example... Theoretically, if you had an environment with 0% moisture content, would it not let off gas? What I'm getting at is, is it letting off gas when it's not in water because of the moisture content in the air? Or have I got it completely wrong? :)
@Jambell ok then why you said you have one on philosophy? btw the way you are trying to be super funny on that video, not cool, hope you accept critics
The first shot kind of creeped me out, but overall well done. I like your enthusiasm. I would like your video even more if you went a little more in-depth on the science behind what we are seeing. For example, why does sublimation occur at room temperature for dry ice, but not for wet ice? As a graduate student in the sciences myself, the main thing I love about science is the *understanding behind* the cool phenomena we see, not just the phenomena themselves.
can u post a video of deposition, the reverse like gas to solid because i can't really picture that happening and ur really good at explaining stuff:-D
It's hard to demonstrate, because the volume of a solid is much smaller than the volume of a gas, so this particular phase change is hard to observe. A simple example, however, is the formation of frost.
Awesome video, I don't know why anybody would be a hater

@mooodflow What the hell do you think driert means? Are you trying to use a computer whilst wearing sheep skin gloves? If so, take them off.

@almgp26 He said a philosophy doctorate (i.e. a PhD) not a doctorate in philosophy.
Fsunka 11 months ago
@almgp26 Yo moron, he has a PH.D, meaning a Doctor of Philosophy. It doesn't mean he studied philosophy.

aj200820082008 2 years ago
go to a large grocery store and ask to buy some. you can probably get it for $1/lb or so
arnasonm 2 years ago
someone said that it was illegal to own, unless u were authorized to have it

its because the freezing point and the melting point (or in thise case, the sublimating point) is far lower than that of the wet ice

Try lowering your eyebrows and see how it feels.
Nice video! I particularly like the "air hockey" dry ice example.
