  • What a stupid advertisement.. cycling keeps you fit - that's what gets the chicks ;)

  • If those girls had an issue with the guys riding, then clearly these are NOT girls these guys want to pursue. Plus, they will just grow up to be fatties anyway.

  • wow, so they want us to drive around in a 4WD instead of healthy cycling?

  • Unspeakably stupid.

  • Oh this is sooooo cool, I love when a group of people gets offended :-) I really hate when anyone gets radical about anything :D

  • In fact, Australia could do with far fewer hoons on the roads. It's not the girls (we see here) cyclists have to worry about - rather, the meatheads slamming around in their utes and commodores. Wrong message here MAC.

  • Funny thing is that the way the helmets are worn, is not correct. They would do more than nothing in a crash. Someone needs to learn how to wear a helmet, or not at all.

  • This is a Must See. Because you have to see this video with your own eyes to believe it's possible to produce such c**p. Thanks to the up-loader for sharing this ...um... interesting experience. And now let's forget it ASAP. :)

Kurt, riding low and loving it

  • 6 people are *really* screwed

  • Australia ... one place less to go to.

  • Is this a real broadcast ad' or just a pitch? A case of an agency misunderstanding the clients needs?

  • Hey, at least the Aussies are finally beginning to understand why mandatory bike helmet laws are anti-cycling!

  • Thumbs up if you reported this as "hateful and abusive content".

  • So taking up roadspace, wasting money, and polluting the planet is cool; but getting incidental exercise, having a connected journeying experience, arriving quicker on short trips and saving everybody money and space isn't?

Atrocious ad, terrible 'recycling' of the worn out stereotypes about transport and status of the last half century that have got is in the mess where in.

  • Where i live in the Scottish Highlands, fuel is already £1.50 per litre and is not going to get any cheaper and within the next few years will most likely be totally unaffordable, altogether. So quite frankly, your going to be screwed whether you have a licence or not! Bicycles and electric bicycles give us a realistic option of still being able to get around for a lot of the journeys we need to make and we're just going to have to get used to that.

  • Actually, who ever approved this commercial should be found a different job.

  • You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. Not just for denigrating bike riders, but by showing how pathetically out of touch you are.

  • Pathetic ad. Those nasty little bitches in the giant unnecessary weapon of mass destruction will hopefully wrap themselves around a telegraph pole.

  • I swear you're all missing the point of this, its not about cycling being a bad thing, its a play on the stereotypical male teenager impressing female teens, with whats meant to be their "doof doof" music and their hot car, in this case no car, making it embarassing for the male teens.

Quite like the play on this but some of you are clearly out of touch with how to market to the current youth generation. In line with the other two adverts its about making it embarassing to lose your license

  • @simbj002 I think we're all very aware of that. Marketing to youth using stereotypes is nothing new, but sending the message to teens that being a vacuous, yuppie, bimbo driving around in daddy's 4x4 is something to aspire to, is past remarkable in this day and age. The fact that it portrays cycling and those who cycle as somehow inferior to the bimbettes in this ad is frankly, laughable.

  • Absolutely pathetic...as a University Sustainability Manager, I find these sorts of ads anathema to everything we need to be accomplishing for our personal health as well as that of our society...

  • What an absolute load of rubbish, put a pair of tour de France riders there and see the girls eyes light up! This is just bad advertising and demeaning to cyclists.

    Back to the drawing board.

  • @chunblues yes but no - sports cycling isn't practically appealing to the masses, just some of the 1%, who by Portland's research constitute the hardcore of people who might cycle. It's slow, casual, utility cycling, in normal clothes without dangerwear (helmets etc) that is most appealing to most people, of all ages. Checkout copenhagencyclechic (and any of it's many siblings) - but yeah, the ad and the ideas behind it is totally bogus.

  • This is abysmal MAC. If you are interested in safety then don’t pillory cyclists. They are venerable road users. And cycling is healthy and environmentally responsible as well unlike driving 4WD urban assault vehicles.

  • Just what we need, Government encouraged derision towards cyclists. Most cyclists are responsible road users who also drive a car. They deserve to be treated with respect. Humour in a campaign is all well and good but not when it picks on vulnerable road users who have done nothing wrong.

  • True, the other two in the series are better. But cyclists, please relax, it's not about you. It's merely dramatising a point to encourage people to drive safely. Which is also better for you.

  • Great concept, big fail on the execution with the pillorying of cycling. Shame MAC, should have thought a little bit harder.

  • Truth hurts. Ha. Sucks to be you.

  • Insulting and inappropriate. Get a life, Motor Accident Commission.

  • Incorrect, MAC. Back to the drawing board.

  • Hilarious, It's refreshing to have a road safety message using humor to get the message across!

  • @LuM235 Wrong.

  • Don't know what MAC is, but it appears they're a bunch of idiots.

  • This is appalling. Cycling is a fantastic way to get around and seriously, to have road safety message that denigrates cyclign is all wrong. Get a grip people. This is nothing but cyclist hate from people with no imagination or idea of the reality of modern life.

  • @ozdesmo Oh go have a fucking cry ya' big girl.

  • Fail. Do you think Armani are know using bikes in their ads because cycling is daggy? Is this meant to be about road safety? Mega fail! Road saftey should be about getting people out cars, not marginalising transport modes that don't juat happen to kill 1.3 million people each year.

  • massive fail....

riding is cool no matter whom you are... We don't all wanna be fat and bitter 5 years after...

oh yeah.. get a 4wd you yuppie scum

  • Mark Ronson saw this coming - see the Bike song

  • Why not say why drink-driving is wrong? This just pays out cyclists. Massive fail.

  • Heaven forfend someone actually ride a bicycle!

  • snore
