Look up Scott H Biram. He does a blazin one man band version of this song. Guy who is now in his 30 somethings.... great country/blues player from Texas.
Id like to get those 3 up on a stage again. Saw Jack about 3 years ago, and many times before that. But Id say the most recent performance was one of the best.
@huettmr music is just us trying to put sound to feelings. same as talking is us trying to put words to feelings. maybe we're angrier today than we were back then. god knows we're more confused.
@huettmr bullshit, bullshit and bullshit! I'm really sick of narrowminded people like you who can only rephrase one sentence " In the past everything was better".
You can't just judge today's music by what you hear on the radio. Today there are still musicians who actually put a lot of effort in making music, but you just won't always find them at the surface. Dig deeper.

I love the relaxed pace of this version of "Muleskinner Blues." To my ear it's nicer than most bluegrass "hat band" covers. Faster is not better.
How bout that 35-second yodel he whistles out of his throat at 4:12.

I hung out Jack 10 years ago. Don't mix his whiskey with too much water. But this is good footage, old.

Damn good version of this song. Of course, having Norman & Randy behind you helps. Dolly Parton did a great version of Muleskinner also.

Man that's slicker than Possum Fat. Norman is one of my favorite musicians. He has greatly influenced my playing.

This is better than the clip in The Ballad of Rambling Jack dvd. Different camera angles. Better features on Norman Blake and Randy Scruggs.
