    please advice

  • Hey, i got one question i need solved! I was test driving my truck for the first time last night and after driving 1 mile it seemed to bog out and had no throttle response. after i realized it stalled i pulled it over and it had a really rough time trying to start and i had to wait 10 minutes to get it going again another mile. I have replaced the fuel pump, filter, carburetor, lines, almost everthing except for the tank. could you help me out? its a 4 barrel rodchester quadrajet.

  • you can alsoc use a vacumm gauge to do this...

  • My old Fiat 132 2000 became troublesome after the last repair and i don't know why :s . It used to be stable after i start the engine, now it starts and it wanna turn off unless i hit the gas paddle for about 10 min, it never did that b4, any idea why?

i will appreciate any help, thanks.

  • @hippohoppa I had that trouble on my Mazda pickup. It had a random misfire from bad plug wires and a slightly too lean of a mixture and incorrect idle speed. Oh and a vacuum leak. If I were you, I'd check to make sure that all cylinders have good compression, then check to make sure that they all have good spark. Then I'll check for a vacuum leak and lastly do what this video shows and it'll run perfect.

  • dont tune the idle mixture according to idle RPM like stated in this video. You tune for optium manifold vacuume at idle RPM and raise the mixture until CFM does not incresse. The only reason for using a tach is to monitor and readjust idle speed as you change the mixture keeping it at the desired idle speed.

  • i need help fixing adjustting my dual carbs on my datsun 240 can someone please email me at josho_112@yahoo . com

  • nothing said on this about fast idle or low idle ,fast idle cam, choke setting and choke unloader??? Idle speed and idle mixture may be the most common adjustments yes but starting from a dead cold engine you need to know the choke and choke unloader is going to do its job ,,or its gonna run like crap and flood whether idle speed and mixture are adjusted or not.

  • Very good informative video. Clear instructios and made simple.

    Thanks Very Much

  • right idea, but wrong. First, with the engine warm, shut it down. Turn each idle screw all the way in, then back out about 3 full turns. This ensures that both barrels are set equally. Balance is important. Start the engine, high idle at 2k for 15 sec. Set the idle speed. Then turn each mixture screw OUT 1/4 turn at a time and note RPM INCREASE! If no increase, turn IN and note increase. At max idle speed, readjust the speed to spec. NOW turn each idle screw slightly IN to RPM drop spec..

  • @TheFRiNgEguitars These few lines beat the video on any given sunday!

  • Respond to this video... And before you do anything take note of the turns of each and every screw by turning them in till it seats and counting the turns while you do that.

  • @TheFRiNgEguitars thats the way i learned in school. not this video . smh.

  • @TheFRiNgEguitars Dude you should make a video, it will help a lot.

  • What is the name of the device you used in this video, that shows the rpms. I thought about borrowing one to adjust my truck.

  • SIR. THIS IS A BERY GOOD VIDEO THANK YOU!!

  • wow car got warmmed up in 10 sec lolz

  • THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!

  • hello mechanic man. i have a 87chev coupe caprice with a 305. 4 barrel carb that idlels high wat should i do so i can pass emission?

  • A lot simpler than in later years where you used propane enrichment or set the idle speed higher by 50 or so rpm then lean dropped it to the final rpm. And then there were the choke adjustments-too lean from early 70's on and very conservative spark timing advance. How did cars that ran poorly from these kind of goofy tuning specs put out fewer emissions? Let's see, 1967 automobile 21 mpg but dirty, 1974 of the same model 10 mpg and slower than dirt but less polution. Never could figure it out.

  • Can you tell how an aisan carb for Toyota EP82 works and how the idle and airfuel is fixed?
