man... i have a 22 inch monitor like yours buts its a viewsonic.. i hooked it up to my ps3 with hdmi to dvi, the XMB looks crisp and great but when i go to any game i see noticable jaggies compared to my old standard tv.
@DiEg0123 i noticed that turning down sharpness level on my monitor helped a bit, looks noticeably better, hopefully i can find other options to play around with. does your acer have jaggies?
@chrisys93 No, my acer did not have jaggies. it was fine. But there was a down side. This acer was failed after a year and half. Well.. most of the acer would do...
@clockendboy I don't have this monitor anymore. It burnt out last year. I would suggest you to get another brand with at least 23" HDCP support. You can get with about £160 or less in these days. Or just get monitor with 1080p/i HDMI support. I now have 24" Samsung monitor and its awesome.
They did have built-in speakers as far as I can remember but its shit. I think 5 watts on each speakers.
i have a question i will set up my ps3 to 1080p and the system and tv will say its in 1080p but when i start a game for exaample killzone3 it changes to 720p idk why plz help
One really bad thing about using a monitor as a ps3 screen is upscaling. Yes, it's really nice, when the ps3 is outputting a 1080p content, but when it gets to 720p or worse games, the graphics quality gets really bad. Much worse than tvs. That's because monitors are made to be used with their native resolutions, so they're not equipped with good scaling chips, unlike tvs. I just changed an Asus VH242H 1080p monitor, which I used with my ps3 with a Samsung LE32B530 and things are a lot better ;)
i could get a 23'' acer h233h hd monitor with built in speakers, hdmi port, 1080p OR Crypton LCD TV 26" supports only 720p...i want to use it for my ps3,what should i get? i think the monitor would be a better thing....
i have a samsung syncmaster and im not sure if i have my pc hooked up to it correctly so that its showing in HD my graphics card is a HD RADEON so it should be showing in hd. the cable im using is a dvi to dvi connector
Just got my monitor, and want to hook it up to my ps3, Ive got a HDMI in my tower unit, but not on the screen itself, is it possible to just put my ps3s HDMI cable into the tower or i need special wires to hook it up?
i just cheeked it it just says dvi and it is a acer computer and so is my monitor do u think it will still work beacuse see how the vga port in my hardrive it is right next to the dvi port this is my hardrive model aspire l3600 if u dont mind can u google it and get bak to me asap plzz and sorry about the rush thanx
erm i just spec it and it does support HDCP thats one of its features but it dosent have the dvi port at the back of it so it just might work with the dvi port thats in my hardrive ?
@DiEg0123 thanks for actually saying in the more info what you need but how can i be sure it supports HDCP atm i have a dvi cable plugged in and running at 1920 x 1080 does that mean i support it cos i got no clue im new to this area of stuff xD
AMAZING , i found a way to make over 500 bucks per day , working from home , easy , and it really works !!!! i found the method on freemakemoneyonline . org , and its free !!!! i recommend
do i need a tower/desktop/the thing connectedto monitor on a computer.....do i need one of those for me to use a a monitor ONLY for ps3 gameplay? im short on cash and i don't want to pay more than i have to.
GAmes already come in 1080p it depends if your video card supports it. Meaning PC gamers enjoy 1080p and 2560x 1600 but those monitors are way too expensive for now.
I have this problem where the firmware 2.8 I can play DVD in 1080p on my LCD but after upgraded to firmware v3.00 my DVD can no longer played. It just black out the whole LCD and nothing work, I have to do a reset to get back my screen again. Anyone have this problem? But the dvd works with 1080i but not 1080p anymore.
well 1080i would be sharper of course but again, most of the games are still 720p. So it will change back to 720p on the games that does not support 1080p. All up to you :)
Actually 1080p is better and sharper. As you can see on this video it goes from the top to bottom to the highest definition, 1080p is progressive 1080i is just Interlaced.
@JamesWorldStudios hes saying 1080i is sharper than 720p but 720p looks better in the end because its progressive. Ofcourse 1080p looks teh best, but given between 720p and 1080i, im sure gamers rather choose 720p and actaully every1
true, mine is not 60Gigs but I have tested with my friend's ps3 and it doesn't work. It is because this type of monitor does not support ps2 resolution.
I changed my monitor to samsung 24" already. This one can watch DVD :)
Yh, I just got a Toshiba 32in 1080p Tv. There is a difference because the motion blur is reduced slightly compared to 720p. Its worth going the extra £100 or so.
I bought a Asus 23" 1080p Monitor, and set the PLAYSTATION 3 to HDMI - 1080p, because I have a HDMI cable running from my PS3 to the HDMI port on the Monitor. And in games the picture looks fucking terrible. Spent alot of money because I knew it would look well, and it just looks CRAP! Any ideas?
read the comment.. this if for those people who do not want to buy big ass tv and want to play in the small room and stuffs. Not to get 1080p in $150 monitor.
everybody know they have to buy big expensive tv to take advantage of 1080p. you dont have to say.
Let me ask you something pal. It's really important for me, so please respond. What settings do you use? I have a Monitor TV like that (23'' 1080p) and i don't know how to set it in order to look perfect. Can you please tell me your settings? (e.x. Contrast: 90, Brightness 55 etc) Thanks!
Can you help me? I have my PS3 connected to my DVI monitor it works, but for some reason when I use 720p option the screen gets cut off. Anyway to fix this? Monitor is 16:9 and it doesn't have any adjustments when outputing video on DVI.
Let me ask you something man. Can I watch tv with that monitor? I want to an full HDtv for my PS3 and as you may know the prices are high... So a tv monitor would be ok, as long as it supports tv signal.. Also can you tell me if the sound is satisfactory? Thanks!
I think he doesn't mention his monitor's standard resolution, I have an ASUS 22'' panel and it does 1920x1080 (1080p) and it also has HDMI with HDCP support which I haven't tried yet.
I just hooked up my HDMI cables to my ps3 and to my 1080p HDTV and the picture is awesome! but it is kinda slow. when i click something on the controller it is late
if you use a computer monitor does it cut off lik an inch of the picture, becuz i hav a friend who has this same monitor and it cuts off about a inch off the edge
ive got a hdmi-dvi cable and connected it all up to my monitor. but my screen just goes blank, i think it detects something because when there is no input to the monitor, there is a message floating about the screen saying something about a screentest or something.
the monitor i have is a Dell E207WFP 20" widescreen monitor.
i've tried doing the force display trick (the 2 beeps) but still not getting anything.
i was going to do the same exact thing when i got a new tv same monitor and everything,i figured it was cheaper than buying an hdtv i bought the cable online then when i went to buy the monitor i realized that it would have no sound. ended up getting a vizio 22' but how did you get sound? i run the HDMI cable to tv then use av cable (audio only) to hook up to surround sound
yeah it shows the picture for 5 seconds then the screen gets black, i can turn it on and same thing happends, i have tried with vga/dvi same thing... do u know whats wrong?
All HDMI cables are exactly the same. It works or it doesn't. Nothing else. Buy the 2 dollar HDMI cables on Amazon instead of $100 Monster ones in Best Buy
monster is a rip off beyond a doubt. But a good cable would still cost $20-$50. This comes down to the manufacturing of the cable itself. Some cost more some cost less. Its like a Quality over Quantity over rip off.
please upload a sample of gameplay on this monitor in high quality. either VF 5 or metal gear solid 4 or gta 4 if you have those. I'm considering buying one but I need to see a quality gameplay sample. picky shopper. thanks.
And how will you listen to sound if u connect to an DVI inpunt on the monitor like example the l220x (which has 1920x1200 resolution) how will be the image on it cause the ps2 has 1920x1080 and can i put the speakers into ps3 or from where i will be listening to the sound if the monitor hasn't speakers in himself?
i was just going to bring that up, it must just downscale the input to the 1680x1050 resolution. bet it still looks nice though. i have built a real 1080p display using a crt monitor, find the video in my collection.
aah, i beg to differ, i can notice the difference on my 22" CRT, less jaggies, maybe on an lcd it's not so noticable as the display is created differently. but a true 1080p game does look better running at full hd than 720p (wipeout, gran turismo, ridge racer)
Hi, i've got the ps3 working on the x222w (thanks to this video), but for some reason it just won't play regular DVDs, let alone upscale DVD! When i try the screen just goes blank and says 'input not supported'. Blu-ray plays fine, it's just DVD that's a problem. It's driving me crazy. Any idea?
Sorry but samsung lcd beats any tv. I used work at sears about a year ago and we had to choose the best hd setup for a blu ray demo. Samsung kicked all the other brands ass, hands down!!!!
My monitor dont have DVI, but only VGA, i buy a HDMI to VGA converter box, do you think it will work?

@chrisys93 Yeah it does that on some lcd. I guess it has something to do with quality of lcd. or probably the cable that you are using.

I really want to connect me PS3 to it, because my TV is crap.
Can someone tell me, is what is in the description of this video, what I need? If I get it, will it work?

hey there,
ive got a hdmi-dvi cable and connected it all up to my monitor. but my screen just goes blank, i think it detects something because when there is no input to the monitor, there is a message floating about the screen saying something about a screentest or something.
the monitor i have is a Dell E207WFP 20" widescreen monitor.
i've tried doing the force display trick (the 2 beeps) but still not getting anything.
can someone please help me?
thanks

i was going to do the same exact thing when i got a new tv same monitor and everything,i figured it was cheaper than buying an hdtv i bought the cable online then when i went to buy the monitor i realized that it would have no sound. ended up getting a vizio 22' but how did you get sound? i run the HDMI cable to tv then use av cable (audio only) to hook up to surround sound
motosportjunkie 3 years ago

i have a monitor that supports hdmi cant i just run a hdmi cable between ps3 and the monitor? or is it necesarry to have hdmi-dvi konverter?
mongoloeyd 3 years ago
yea, if u have a HDMI Connection on ur Monitor, than u can get a HDMI Cable
ALittleSomethngExtra 3 years ago
yeah it shows the picture for 5 seconds then the screen gets black, i can turn it on and same thing happends, i have tried with vga/dvi same thing... do u know whats wrong?
mongoloeyd 3 years ago
oo, than ur Monitor probably doesnt support the display of 1080p, or the wire is loose, if you bought a $20 HDMI, it could be messed up
ALittleSomethngExtra 3 years ago
All HDMI cables are exactly the same. It works or it doesn't. Nothing else. Buy the 2 dollar HDMI cables on Amazon instead of $100 Monster ones in Best Buy
desertman123 3 years ago
monster is a rip off beyond a doubt. But a good cable would still cost $20-$50. This comes down to the manufacturing of the cable itself. Some cost more some cost less. Its like a Quality over Quantity over rip off.
elitedw 3 years ago
it does support 1080p but still i connected it to the computer with dvi and same thing happend..
mongoloeyd 3 years ago
what monitor do you have? if it had hdmi on it

please upload a sample of gameplay on this monitor in high quality. either VF 5 or metal gear solid 4 or gta 4 if you have those. I'm considering buying one but I need to see a quality gameplay sample. picky shopper. thanks.

I have a dell 24" pc monitor with hdmi ports. Can I connect a ps3 console to it, or it still needs to have built-in hdcp?

And how will you listen to sound if u connect to an DVI inpunt on the monitor like example the l220x (which has 1920x1200 resolution) how will be the image on it cause the ps2 has 1920x1080 and can i put the speakers into ps3 or from where i will be listening to the sound if the monitor hasn't speakers in himself?

The Acer X222W 22" Widescreen TFT Monitor has a 1680x1050 resolution. How can it display 1080p? 1080p=1920x1080
edudrepus 3 years ago
i was just going to bring that up, it must just downscale the input to the 1680x1050 resolution. bet it still looks nice though. i have built a real 1080p display using a crt monitor, find the video in my collection.
mobiletone 3 years ago
It does downscale it to 1680X1050 but on a 22" you can see next to no difference in the picture quality.
sbarkeri 3 years ago
aah, i beg to differ, i can notice the difference on my 22" CRT, less jaggies, maybe on an lcd it's not so noticable as the display is created differently. but a true 1080p game does look better running at full hd than 720p (wipeout, gran turismo, ridge racer)
mobiletone 3 years ago
good question ... what the hell do you see
nerddna 3 years ago
Hi, i've got the ps3 working on the x222w (thanks to this video), but for some reason it just won't play regular DVDs, let alone upscale DVD! When i try the screen just goes blank and says 'input not supported'. Blu-ray plays fine, it's just DVD that's a problem. It's driving me crazy. Any idea?
