  • Epic !!!

  • I don't understand why they didn't put "what shall we do" in the album

  • @edo8200 it didn't fit on the LP. :(

  • @edo8200 I know, right? It's such an awesome song!

  • Pure anger, and desilusions of an angry man.

I do believe how much many people can relate to this part of the wall.

What to do next, and how to get there, that is the difficult question.

A vital part in a briliant show, and legacy.

  • @666MattsGuitar666 yes. that is valid. shall we eradicate the entire Pop genre?

  • i mean the live version you bought it says it on this comment page

did you go to this concert

  • i just don't think water's idea of animation washes with the true feel of The Wall.

i really hate the cartoons but i love the album.

  • Why is the rum allways gone ))))))))))))))))))))

  • god. i will devote myself to you forever if you give roger waters and david gilmour eternal youth.

    your's truely- satan

  • God wouldn't receive Bieber in exchange..!! NOT EVEN GOD WANTS HIM...!!

  • i did not know about this song till i finally bought the live version several years ago. what an incredible performance! very curious if dave souped up his rig for these shows in 1980. his sound is so intense with an almost steamy compression to it. anyone else notice the flanger on full cycle at the end of this great song? i loved it - gilmour is awesome!

  • how is it

  • @ThePFloyd65 how is what, buddy?

  • @metalsushidog Does your education forces you to try to offend people when you don't agree with others?

Are people not entitled to say what they think?

Would you mind sharing with the rest of us, who is blowing your mind at the same scale as Pink Floyd?

Please be so kind to share... because if all of this is misinformation and there is in fact some one making real history RIGHT NOW... then it would be selfish not to share, dont you think.?

Try not to offend, it only speaks about yourself...

  • THIS IS SAD... TO SEE THAT THE TIME FOR GOOD MUSIC HAS COME AND GONE FOR EVER....

NO ONE....NO ONE, IS BLOWING OUR MINDS ANYMORE....

    NO ONE IS MAKING HISTORY

  • @yonpolite yes bro or sis, and there are very many different reasons for that now a days, how ever shortsighted much of the music is or lacking depth thereof it is getting better, although very slowly nonetheless.... keep the hope for a better tomorrow any way

  • @PaulyKracker to be honest I've lost hope.... this were other minds... other times that pushed them to do pieces of art and history...

Muse is never going to make history.... Snow Patrol?? what hell? Kings of Leon... ?

They are all fairly good... but we live on a decadent world of music.

I just came back from The WALL Live at Berlin... and goosebumps all over!!!! MIND BLOWING!!!

Does Maroon 5 or Coldplay gives us anything???

sad...And I am only 30 years old!! Our Dad's had it great!

  • @nannynicky4life at the beginning of this concert when they open with in the flesh, its actually extras wearing masks to prove that The band was faceless to the fans (as roger waters was out to prove) those are the extras you see

  • Check my profile for the Pink Floyd Inspired Concept album I wrote!

  • I know the concert, but what is this from? Is it out on DVD?

  • @fifa06fan

There is no official video release of The 1980s Wall Tour (yet), so this and everything else you see is complete bootleg.

There are many places you can buy this DVD, or you could just download it off the internet for free.

  • At it's root, this song is about evil.

  • why is there 2 drummers? the drumming on the wall is not that complex. nick could have done it just fine on his own. it is not like the drumming on the division bell that was more complex. a good place to 2 drummers is for genesis and phil colins stuff.

  • @nannynicky4life They had an extra for all instruments, they were the surrogate band that opened the show.

  • @nannynicky4life They were both playing the exact same part, all the second guy is doing is adding volume.

  • @nannynicky4life that was roger's idea

  • dont forget foreinger. they where great too. not as pink floyd great but they new how to rock too.

  • The greatest sound and live shows and much more belongs to FLOYD AND ROGER

  • i saw him live back in October. most amazing time of my life. seeing him just wow.

  • @diperrimax i kind of know that feeling; seeing them play all together in the early 70's (before all went downhill in regards to togetherness with love & respect) was definetly the most amazing time of my life as well. the impact this sound has had on millions of listeners is unsurpassed. Number 1 in my book without any doubt!

  • @lilRadRidinHood arent you so glad you got to see them?! its just an amazing experience glad i know sombody else i can share that with! :)

  • roger waters is a genius, but so is david, nick and rick, please stop giving credit only to ONE member of the greatest band ever

  • DEAR GOD

    PLEASE

    GIVE US RICHARD WRIGHT BACK!

    WE WILL GIVE YOU

    JUSTIN BIEBER!!!

  • @woutervincentbff i dont think thats a fair trade

  • @thatguyrocks5 We shall add an additional:

Lady Gaga, Kayne West, Rihanna, Pitbull, and many more!

  • @sufferingrules

stilll not a fair trade man! ricks too good!

  • @thatguyrocks5 Yer why would god agree to that. Plus I am not entirely sure it would be gods decision on bieber, since he is an equivalent to satan.

  • @thatguyrocks5 not at all :A

  • @woutervincentbff I think you have to do equivalent exchange...

  • This guy Roger is kinda talented?

  • @hustewart Hahahaha. :D

  • Damn this is fucking amazing

  • i saw this in Ottawa :)

  • i saw this song performed at Roger Waters' concert in florida,

    dam it was effin amazing

i love Roger Waters so freakin much

his writing is beautiful, poetic amazing, knocks the breath out of you

his bass is effin jammin', one of the best bass players

his voice is hard to describe, its unique, insane, amazing,

something about this man makes me lose my mind and keep it together at the same time

  • @TheBeatlefloyd i saw this in september,detroit

  • just saw this in dallas last night. it was amazing. He is 60 + and still sounds amazing

  • @cesteban721 .....67

  • I just saw roger in tampa it was beyond belief

  • I wish to GOD theyd release a better quality version of this show! all anybody has is the August 9th show (I have it to) but the quality is awful! I KNOW Roger has GOT to have a clean version of this....and with today technology?! You're gonna tell me this footage can't be restored?! Cmon! We WANT a cleaner version!

  • @blizzarddiaryozzy He does. He used footage from it to give direction to his current band on this new Wall tour. He also has said in a lot of interviews lately that he plans on releasing a DVD.

  • Roger Waters has the most unique voice

  • Seeing The Wall Live next week!

  • @WhoLovesGabe I'm going to, in Milan, 4th time!!!! YEEEAAAAHAHAH!!!!!

  • This one of the most genius songs ever written,,you got it right Elfrankus,I love this whole album, getting ready to see Waters Do it in Oakland,Ca in December ..I seriously can't wait!!

    This band are fucking legends.

  • a master piece!! one of my fav in da movie!! fukin powerful, thanks Floyd

  • en un mes lo veremos.......su majestad WATERS.

  • Nick Mason's drumming, especially on this album, always blows me away. It's not incredibly creative, but it has power within the context of the music.

  • Waters... a singer with a voice processor included ...

  • @alfonsioux ah ah ahhhh.......... :)

  • its so weird to not see roger playing bass

  • wataveb ro vusmen .. .....

  • Comment removed

  • I have the fuckin' ticket for the concert. I mean, I've got the power.

  • @andrefreakincreator same here andre, im going to the buffalo new york concert in october.

  • @yogaman1919 , :) you'll be against the wall.

  • Yes Roger, you're #1!!!!!

  • I broke my friggin' bank to get tickets to see Waters do The Wall live in December in Anaheim. Seriously been eating grilled cheese and ramen for 3 weeks. But it is so worth it. I saw Waters do Darkside of the Moon at Coachella 2 years ago and it was the best concert I have ever seen. And I love The Wall more. I lived my highschool years with it as the soundtrack. This is more than music to me. I can't wait.

  • 2:18 -> 2:36

oh boy oh boy oh boy I love this drum

  • Question.. Why are they all wearing headphones? Why is the stage so dark? Why is the quality so bad... and finally, Why are they so AWESOME?!!

  • @IamTheScorchedEarth From what I have heard Waters say, they are using headphones because they are "playing to ticks", which I took as meaning they have count offs playing in the headphones so they could keep the music and visuals sync'd. They stage is so dark because the show was more about those visuals. For the second half of the show the band actually played behind the wall. Quality is bad because it is old. They are so awesome because they are Pink Floyd...but you already knew that one!

  • @amsyco mmm so the headphones are to keep track of what everyone else was doing, and the stag is adapted to be used as a movie screen... thanks for the answers and yes... we ALL knew the last one

  • @IamTheScorchedEarth well, roger is tone deaf so he wears headphones to keep the beat. for questions 2, and 3, the computor has bad quality because it 1980. and its dark cause i dont no, butt this is awesome because its pink floyd.

  • Would somebody please tell me what drums Nick was playing on this song?

  • @Chris0wnz That doesn't really matter, you will never have a drum kit like his.

  • You know what, David Gilmour are two of the greatest musicians to ever live, do we really need to bitch about who was better? Without Roger we wouldnt have the wall, but without Dave who is there to make it seem....right? Without Daves guitar work it just isnt the same

  • @BaCoNxBeAnS

fuck you. dont ever talk again, because you dont understand good music.

  • I love David Gilmour....but Roger Waters is a musical genious!

  • I wonder if the 'guitar' line was aimed at Dave who is a manic axe collector and even owns Fender Strat No 001! And the 'powerful car' line at Nick who has garages full of supercars, einc an antique $20 mil Ferrari?????

  • Wow that was awesome. "Keep people as pets" always my fave line....

  • Another post section bitching about who was better, Roger or Gilmour. Can't we just enjoy what the two together produced? The bottom line is that Gilmour is noted as a producer on the wall which means he had a lot to do with how the music was shaped. Lest we not forgot who played all the bad ass guitar and lended his amazing voice to help this become the masterpiece it became. Thanks to both of them for an amazing albumn and even better shows.

  • This isnt all on the album is it?

  • @litlemadguitarist no your right, this isnt empty spaces its what shall we do now, empty spaces is just a shortened verion of this song, when it was being recorded there wasnt enough room on the record, so they has to shorten it, now i think tht this song being as good as it is shouldn't have been shortened and crap like stop or bring the boys back home should be removed and the full song on the album

  • @BaCoNxBeAnS Fuck you

  • @litlemadguitarist no your right, this song isnt on the album, empty spaces is just a shortened verson of this song, while recording there wan't enough room to fit this whole song, now because this song is a s good as it is, i think tht instead of it being shortened crap like "stop" or "bring the boys back home" should have been removed

  • @BaCoNxBeAnS stop is kickass what the fuck are you talking about

  • @BaCoNxBeAnS you are a mother fucker!!! stop and bring the boys back home are great songs!!! fuck you dick!!!

  • Kick Ass. One of the best songs on the album!

  • This is my favorite song of all the Wall Album...

    IS SO POWERFULL!!!!!

  • Waters was the genius behind Pink Floyd.

    Peace.

  • true, but u gotta love mason's intense fills

  • dont forget richard wright

  • nah. gilmore even said, waters made the lyrics but gilmour mostly did the music. waters wasn't the genius behind pink floyd. it took all four of them to do what they did, and don't tell me waters taught gilmour how put so much emotion into his solos.. and my shift button doesnt work ;9

  • Nah... Read the credits on The Wall. 27 songs, only 3 co-written by Gilmour. All the other songs, music and lyrics by Roger Waters. Facts.

  • That may be true but that doesn't make Waters the genius of the band. Unless you are one of those people who think Pink FLoyd's only good album was The Wall. And I'm basing my statements off of interviews and projects I did on Pink FLoyd in my high school days. There's no way Waters showed Gilmour how to play guitar. The final cut was all waters and although I love that album, it is nothing like previous Floyd. So to determine Floyd was all waters is saying every album is like the final cut

  • And just because it says Waters made all the lyrics and music (which i cant remember the source but GIlmour disagrees with this statement, he said quote unquote "roger made the lyrics, i created the music") that does not mean that waters made all the guitar riffs, keyboard parts, drum fills. it can mean that he gave them ideas like "do a fill here, may a minor chord here" that doesn't mean he created everything. Even though he didn't.. and this is coming from a huge waters fan so its not bias

  • lyrics written...not the music composed...or do you think waters did all of the instruments all alone??

    they're all genius

  • @Corleonetone Of course not, like Beethoven or Bach or Schubert didn't play all the instruments in the orchestra. Waters composed most of the music on the classic PF albums and they all played on it.

Composing a music is not playing a music.

A pianist could paly Pink Floyd songs and you know that Waters didn't compose them to the piano.

    peace.

  • yeah man but what i'm saying is that is it a fact the water composed all of the songs, composed all the instruments lines that were played???? i seriously doubt it...

  • @Corleonetone When a composer make a song he doesn't compose for an instrument but for a whole, then the musicians make the arrangements but the concept of the song was made before.

    Peace.

  • Gilmour co-wrote a ton of those classic Floyd songs, including more than a handful on "The Wall". The Wish You Were Here album was composed by Gilmour and Waters TOGETHER. Dark Side of the Moon, same thing. So Waters wrote the awesome lyrics. Gilmour wrote alot of the awesome music. Take either of the 2 away and those albums aren't impressive....

  • Roger wrote the music, Dave coloured it

  • @iamcraiger I don't know if that's strictly true. My understanding was that while Roger written the lyrics and the songs, Dave actually written a lot of the music on the classic Floyd LPs? So in other words Waters written the vocal part in Shine On, for example, ie the 'song' part but Gilmour written the lengthy instrumental parts.

  • @iamcraiger - Dave... and Richard Wright lol

But then, Roger was a pretty decent bassist too.

  • @StrawPipe I agre with you completely. Both gilmour and waters are very important for the band and for the songs.I think all them were essential for make the songs.all them are important in the same quantity

  • Waters is the man.

  • If he tried to be less the man and more a member of Floyd we would have more...

  • the bands today are no match for these guys or any other band from this era in music

  • @GWL1961 In this era undoubtly. But I won't forget other bands of their era, as Genesis 1970-1977...

  • great

  • Roger Waters has the most unique voice.. And Brain lol,

  • @MaXaNoMaLoUs

    HAD the most unique voice

  • @zottnjoe Oh, he's still got a unique voice... he just can't do as much with it as he used to lol

  • i love the intro of keyboards at the beginning.....does anyone know where i can tabs for it

  • work them by ear mate...otherwise it's useless...

  • all the lyrics still kick today!

  • ♥!!!

  • the drums are fucken sick at 2:20 ESPECIALLY WEN THE STEREO IS FULL BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Australian Pink Floyd did this really well when i saw them in Reading a couple of weeks ago. Their lead singer has got a cracking voice - Roger Waters isn't the easiest vocal to try and cover!

  • I saw the Austrialian Pink FLoyd show the other night, and they played the entire wall, this song realy stood out as one of the highlights.

  • yeah, man, I saw Australian Pink Floyd last October and they did they entire Wall, and it roooocked! Pink Floyd is awesome!!!!

  • Great song!!! The soundtrack from the movie has both Empty Spaces/What Shall We Do Now? on it.

  • This is the next best thing to having been there in person! What a treat, thanks for posting this for us.

  • que lastima que "what shwal we do now?" no halla estado en el disco de The Wall.

  • Fantastic keyboards here too, great use of delay from Rick Wright...sadly missed

  • Roger Waters is a Genius..

  • actualy, it really sucks because this sone was originally cut fom the album because they needed to remove some of the original material because it was getting too long. they had to decide to axe either this or empty spaces, and this one got cut. A pity really, because this son is better than empty spaces. They left the lyrics there, however, because they still fit into the story.

  • I remember back in 1980, I was infatuated with THE WALL. I literally wore out countless LP's. I could never figure out however, why the lyrics to "What shall we do now" were posted on one of the inside sleeves of the double album, but there was no song that matched the written words.

years later of course, when they made the motion picture, I was thrilled to finally get to hear this song! why it was never released on the album, I will never know. such a great, POWERFUL tune!

  • I first saw the movie and the song really stood out. Then I heard "Empty Spaces" on the radio and thought it was the same but then surprised when it cutoff to go into "Young Lust". I have read the reson it is not on the original was due to the limitations of vinyl.

  • That makes sense.

  • Yes, I didn´t understand also what music was What shall we do now heeh

  • "What shall we do now" and "Young lust" are both great songs. Underrated songs.

  • I have read from others that it was an issue of space for the song not being on the origianl wall album

  • see this is why classic rock kicks loads of ass and todays rock blows loads of ass

  • I think people just group all 70's rock music into the "Classic Rock." But come on, is this really just rock? No way, this is way more...

  • People like to call this kind of music space rock :P Couse the music takes you to another world.

  • richard wright R.I.P. he was superb

  • wonderful !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • empty spaces and what shall we do now are both great songs . its just empty spaces goes right into young lust.

  • what shall we do now is great

  • i wish what shall we do now was on the album...it's so good

  • Great song, possibly my favourite song off the album, but not with out the second part only reased in the film. The lyrics in that part are so chilling, it's just how they fit together so perfectly.

  • Agree about the second verse!

  • qué lindo que es Roger (L)

  • I bet they didn't show the clip of What Shall We Do Now because they didn't want people tripping on LSD to freak out, haha

  • damn rogers is great live

  • Great!

  • the song is pretty frightening

and the visuals in the movie only make it more so

  • Division Bell was great, but it's not Floyd, it's the Dave Gilmour Band, atleast to me it is. Momentary Lapse of Reason, well the name says it all for that album :)

  • David Gilmour didn't solely write Division Bell, in fact, he MAYBE wrote 2 of the songs on that album on his own, just because Roger Waters wasn't in the band at the time doesn't mean it's not Pink Floyd.

  • pink floyd anatomy:

    the brains...waters

    the heartbeat - gilmour

    the soul - wright

the backbone- mason I think Syd Barett encompasses all of this

  • I think Syd Barrett encompassed a very specific body part. You could say that he was very hard to replace.

  • Waters in his peak. His voice was collossal here.

  • This song is dark , but I wonder how the fuck Waters made it ?!?!?!? There are no more geniouses like him anymore ! I love Pink FLOYD

  • You're right giorgos. Waters is the ultimate genius of real Rock.

  • you forget gilmour !!!

  • ya can't forget Gilmour...my favorite guitarist of all time

  • There is no Gilmour without Waters and vica versa.
