  • a sweet melody thanks ..

  • 5 minutes ago, I went down to the fridge to get a snack when I saw that my sister was watching Bones, I sat down and started watching too, heard this song come on, literally SPRINTED into the kitchen to find a scrap of paper to write down the lyrics, ran back backstairs, googled the words I caught: "catch the wind song", and now I'm here listening to wonderful music :D

  • @YoursTrulySean 'You have just found the most wonderful talent please listen to "to sing for you" you fall in love with Donavan as I have'

  • @YoursTrulySean I heard it in a movie, thought t'was Bob Dylan, remembered a few lines, walked to the pc, typed it in google, now I am listening a zjas beautiful song.

  • @YoursTrulySean Sean ? Welcome to great music :) Dylan did a version of this, too, but Donovan is the original :) Welcome.

  • i sang this song for my last show and i cant express how tired i am of playing this beautiful perfect song

  • This Song = Cold Case ;O 3

  • you tube need to move the dislike button further away from the like button. How else can something this beautiful get any dislikes other than by accident.

  • @cwwiss1 nono they just didn't like the slideshow, not the song obviously

  • @kamilledelgardo

No because he is a man. She kinda looks like him though.

  • Love the song. Does anyone else think he kind of looks like Kristen Stewart?

  • @kamilledelgardo Yes!! Very much so!

  • what especiallity: this poem of love above and this song of donovan.rarely you can see that.the heaven will looke at you with a smile

  • a beautiful wee song. good man donovan ma fellow weedgie

  • Today, Wed. Dec. 21, 2011, I held a balloon release in very loving memory of The Darling of My Life -- My Heavenly-Precious Wife, Barbra Rose. As the balloons went aloft, I sang some of the lyrics to this sublime song. I know that My Barbra saw and heard it all from Heaven. I hope that Jesus allows My Barbra and I do dance a waltz to this sweet tune in Heaven someday very soon! Barbra -- I love you beyond Space and Time! Come for me soon, My Eternal Love, Barbra! We'll ride the wind to Heaven!

  • @mickeymousebiker1 keep on keeping on man, im sure she's waiting.

  • @stonerminmcjoe Your words speak HOPE to my mind and heart. Countless thanks to you! Every time I hear this song (and quite a few others) I get closer to My Barbra once more. Man, we were only together for two years. I know that Jesus will reunite us (someday very soon, I hope). My life just means zilch without My Barbra. A Merry and Hopeful Christmas 2011 to you and yours.

  • absolutely brilliant

  • good song from a good soul

  • Love Donovan. Love this song. Brings back so many memories....

  • Congrats Donovan!!!

  • Love Donovan but not sure he should be included in the hall of fame. This song was probably his one and only known tune. Bob Dylan has a couple more than him don't u agree

  • @bruffbhoy I think your underestimating him a little...

  • @bruffbhoy no

  • @bruffbhoy Sunshine Superman? Mellow Yellow? (featured in how many commercials?) Hurdy Gurdy Man? (Which was the inspiration for a movie title) Plus many more! His daughter is even a famous 80s actress. He is rock and roll royalty!

  • @3143r8 Along with Atlantis, probably one of the most iconic songs ever, used in TV and film a lot too.

  • He is now in the hall of fame woot

  • Parenthood, as usual, introducing me to great music.

  • This song is.... No words... Indescribable

  • beautiful, takes me somewhere happy

  • 12 TONE-DEAFS

  • Unfortunately he just can't escape the Bob Dylan comparison.

  • @MrPatches2000 lol agreed when i first heard this i was 100% sure it was dylan great song though

  • There was a young girl I knew. This song would be playing & the lyrics expressed my feelings about her to a 'T'. She was certainly too young for me, but yes this was her. Fond memories are the best part of living.

  • how can u dislike this?

  • Comment removed

  • One of the great 'Dylanesque' songs...damn near matching the master.

  • @justsayinme2u better than dylan

  • It's very similar to Dylan's "Chimes of Freedom", but it's great.

  • Each lyric - each lyric -- means more and more to me with each passing day since you left me for Heaven, My Darling and Resplendent Wife, Barbra. How many times did I play Donovan's version of Catch the Wind for us while we were together in this life? My Eternally-Beloved Barbra, I pray and hope that you and I are allowed to dance a waltz to this great song when we are reunited in Heaven. Barbra -- I miss you more each day. I miss you beyond words. Barbra -- I love you beyond Space/Time.

  • @mickeymousebiker1 great post man.. me and my girl listen to this atleast a few times a week, i couldnt imagine listening to it after shes gone, just stay strong buddy you'll be with her again, and you still got this great music to keep you going

  • @stonerminmcjoe A million thanks to you! I wish you and your gal a long (and happy) life together. I need to hang on and wait. I hope and pray it isn't for too much longer. My life is nothing without The Darling of My Life -- My Barbra Rose. Barbra and I shared this song a lot too. A Merry and Hopeful Christmas 2011 to you, your gal, and to your kin!

  • @mickeymousebiker1 Merry christmas right back at you buddy. For real though bud you need to enjoy life, for whats left, trust me she would be looking down saying the same thing. All good things come to those who wait. Or atleast we all better hope so :D a lot of creepy stuff happening lately, but we will all be free one day, but for now, positive thinking!, and keep your faith buddy, hope the holidays go good for you!

  • @stonerminmcjoe Thank you for the positive and hopeful thoughts. It's just that my heart has been sad and weary many times since My Barbra died in Nov. 2010. I should rejoice to know Barbra is in Heaven! I KNOW that My Barbra is looking down at me now. My Barbra might be a bit disappointed with some things I do, but, I know she loves me for all Eternity! Barbra can also hear all the music I play for us. All the best at Christmas 2011 and a Great and Hopeful New Year 2012 to you!

  • @mickeymousebiker1 Nice eulogy and my condolences :-)

  • @mickeymousebiker1 I belong to Donovan's generation. Perhaps I should feel ashamed since I am too old for sentimentalism...but I can assure you that your words moved me to tears....litterally. With simpaty from Italy.

  • dylan and donovan, thats all you need

  • This is cool i just search my name and found him so i like it

  • I danced to this song as a toddler for my parents in the 60's.

It makes me cry, as my beloved Dad is in Heaven now.

Thank you for this beautiful song Donovan x

  • @Jala977 Your Dad is watching over you from Heaven, and he can hear this song. Likewise, for My Beloved and Resplendent Wife, Barbra. Barbra and shared and enjoyed this great tune. Keep dancing to this tune, my good sir! Thank you, Donovan!

  • This is in the movie "the invention of lying" :')

  • I was really upset today and this song calmed me down so much. :) <3

  • Loved it in the sixties,,,,,,,, love it now!! when youre in love and they don't even know..... send them this.....

  • Parenthood...yeah. ;)

  • @octopus59 I also heard this song in parenthood, vary nice ^^ I like it =D

  • @Hymenopteras That's about the fifth time that show has sent me to youtube. :)

  • great sentiment my friend. You will be reunited.

  • Now, this is REAL music! It was made in the time when music was made not for money, but for the audience and out of love for music!

  • it says lolz in the url

  • the only thing wrong about this song is it dont last long enough !!!

  • My favorite version of this most beautiful song!

  • Great Song

  • best song in the world......if you're a romantic that is xxx

  • all his songs are 3 chords and simple but try and play it like he does!well thats another story!

  • Wonderful !!!!!!

  • Invention of Lying brought me here.

  • "true story bro" is my new catch phrase!

  • Britain's Bob Dylan, like the Monkees were America's Beatles ;)

  • @FuzzBug1

I think The Byrds are more of America's Beatles.

  • @FuzzBug1 I could not have said it better!! His style in this song, seems inspired by Bob Dylan!!

  • sparrows0429

    great song

  • this is my song

  • wow the chords are a TOTAL rip of chimes of freedom flashing

    TRUE STORY BRO

  • @LeFruFru

someone hasn't the slightest concept of folk music, true story bro.

  • @bplumser U PISS PILE! I'M MORE FOLK THEN WOODY GUTHRIE'S ASSHOLE!

  • When I first heard this song on the radio, I thought it was Dylan...one of my favourite tracks of all time.

  • man, i'm 17 and i ONLY listen to stuff from the 50's, 60's and 70's. everything elce just dosent have a message.

  • @ferremar776 nobody cares if you're 15, 30, or 70. Just listen to the music.

  • @ferremar776 same it just fills your sole

  • Twinkle-toed Communist shithead.

  • @lolzyouhaveaids The great thing about technology is that it can make it possible for idiots like you who have nothing to say feel relevant. You have been dismised. Bye.

  • The deep meaning of the song is that the guy's lover is for him a peceful rest, a shelter in his everyday battele for his purposes, a true vision of what love conception is from the persepctive of a man, instead of the absurd idolatry towards women we are used to.

  • I caught the wind...

The wind punched the fuck outta me...

    It was the Weed Talking...

    :)

  • This man should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

  • @djstheman Yes !! he was so talented. wrote all his own songs.

  • @djstheman

true, but along with everybody who should be in who isnt (Nick Drake, Elliott Smith, John Martyn, etc), they are simply too good to be put in there. and far too great to be considered because everybody would be able to see what a shambles the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is at the moment.

  • @djstheman Far better still -- he belongs in Heaven, so he can personally sing this song for us all -- forever. This song is in loving memory of My Darling of Darlings -- My Eternal True Love, Barbra.

  • @djstheman He is now!

  • @djstheman Today is a wonderful day my friend :D Donovan is in the ROCK AND ROLL HOF!!

  • @djstheman Haha....how prophetic! He's inducted into the R &R Hall of Fame today !

  • @djstheman He is now!

  • @djstheman he is today.

  • @djstheman he's goin in this year along with RHCP

  • @djstheman he is, now, finaly :)

  • hes kinda like bob Dylan

  • tiririri tiririr tiririri

  • great f-ing song

  • I used to sing this when I was a teenager in the sixties.

  • How did this happen? This is like now a days if some female musician were to wear meat on her head and proclaim about being a lesbian but not be Lady Gaga.

  • Thumbs up if a little game called flower brought you here ;).

  • I first heard this song when I was about 6 years old. Back then I was trying to work out who Albert R Mayers was and how he could try and catch the wind, because we had some terible storms back then. Donovan was great

  • PS3 HOME I MISS YOUU

  • Le Jukebox du 18-25 est passé par la !

  • @Represent514 Anytime.

  • @Represent514 It ranks highly in my favorite games of all time. It is an emotional experience that everyone should have the opportunity to encounter. I'd say download the demo first, because it might not be for everyone, but if you're in the right mindset, it can be the most relaxing and peaceful thing you've ever done.

  • @Represent514 But of course.

  • At a concert of Donovan's long ago, a plastic record (45rpm?) was enclosed in the program. I loved that song and do not believe it was ever included in any of his albums. Does anyone remember that concert and know the name of the song that was on that plastic record? IT would have been late 60's early 70's.

  • this song is so moving, love it!!! i could listen to it all day long!

  • O____O Are we sure he isn't Bob Dylan?

  • @Kavoz92 Or, isn't Bob Dylan Donovan?

  • @Kavoz92

    Or, Isn't Bob Dylan Donovan?

  • @Kavoz92

    two different awesome cats

  • it's funny to see how donovan and bob dylan met eachother or just heard from each other. hahah

  • I love this man.

    He makes me feel.

    Carolyn St. John

    Seattle, WA

  • Would you guys hate if I compared Donovan to Bob Dylan? I've always thought they had similar voices, but Donoan's was a bit cleaner. Less scratchy.

  • May sound sacriligeous but i saw Donovan in concert wearing a long flowing robe and he made me feel like I was in the presence of Christ!

  • beatiful song :3

  • Makes me want to play Flower again...

  • He's cute!

  • @TheDrunkenHer0 Leaves blow this way, leaves blow that way, can't explain that.

  • @CelphProclaimed

    HAHAHAHAHA you win

  • หรอยๆ

  • 10 people couldn't catch the wind.

  • Donovan said: "'Catch The Wind,' I wrote it for Linda Lawrence. It is a song of unrequited love, yet I hadn't really met her, so how could I miss her? And I seem to write prophetic songs in the sense of the Celtic poet and I wrote this song before I met Linda, of a love I would like to have had and lost."

  • For 14 years I've missed out on the incredible Donovan....now I've started to listen to him, he's just amazing :)

  • i think john lennon wrote this for him ????
