Ninja Gaiden (Sega Genesis Beta) Full Playthrough

Might of been a nice "beat em up" in the vein of the original arcade Ninja Gaiden. But we'll never really know. Too bad it didn't get finished and released, could've been a cool addition to the Ninja Gaiden series even if it's story wasn't canon.

The game was good for a beat 'em up. Did the link explain why you skipped the first few boss fights?

@FormerMC002 This game was never finished. I doubt he skipped anything. Those boss fights probably weren't in the beta version of the game. from what I understand this beta version is pretty damn glitchy.

@GoongalaGoongala Uh, wrong. I played the game on a Genesis emulator up to its Ending cutscene and fought all the bosses whenever the glitches did not come to pass. There are button codes in which you can skip or restart the level and move to the next part which is what this guy most likely did. All the game's missing is the Credits and the fixes on the glitches. Don't believe me? Go play it.

Wow, Valis77 was right. This game is bad, and Ryu without his DRAGON SWORD?!

Also, when the special attacks can attack the enemies without being near them, that's not good programming.

The music is nowhere near as good as Revenge of Shinobi or the NES Ninja Gaiden.

The problem is: Not many people nowadays played the Arcade version back then. We only knew of the NES game of the same name. I sure as heck didn't know about it back then.

Why NOT give Ryu a sword? Heck, why didn't Tecmo make this a Shinobi clone to begin with?

Actually, I watched a short clip of the Arcade version...Ryu did in fact have a SWORD, and this "port" couldn't even do that.

basicly. tecmo and sega in 1992 where developing a ninja gaiden beat em up game for the genisis. but was discontinued after poor programing and bad pre release critic reviews. what you are seeing is a leaked version of the nearly completed game.

This looks awesome i woulda played this the graphics are pretty good, i like the music, more of a beat em up style and doesn't look as hard as the nes port I think they should have added a subtitle that way people wouldn't be expecting a ninja gaiden nes port but instead something new or similar

This move has actually (as a variation) stayed with Ryu into the DOA series, stemming from his Handstand stance! They must've liked it. I seem to remember playing this version a while back. If I remember rightly, it moves diagonally upL & downR etc when simply moving L & R? The Amiga version of Shadow Warriors was the best Beat Em Up home version available... one of my all time faves for the Amiga alongside IK+!

Just got rom to try, I gotta say I'm happy to see it looks like the old arcade game. I remember when i got my NES game back in the 80's and was totally mad that it wasn't close to the game I played in the arcade.

About the game when i played it thought "the graphics mmm not good, the music its ok, the gameplay mmm its a beta i cant expect too much" but i liked the game anyway...

This seems to be a conversion of the Ninja Gaiden arcade game with some plot added...

Hard to call it a Streets of Rage ripoff, though, since the arcade version came out several years before SoR. This one might also have been made before it, actually.

Doesn't really play anything like arcade NG, though. The arcade game was all about the aerial game. It was like 90% throws and hanging kicks. This is just a generic beatemup, not very appealing.

i hate ninja gaiden and that music......... im allergic to it.. arrrrgh! XD. ninja gaiden NES games curse me for not playing it anymore...... my dad will play this just to get on my nerves with it... good that it was unreleased.. but it's good to know u like ninja gaiden. i like the 360 one that's it.
