this camera's sensor is 2/3 which is 8.80 x 6.60 MM its too small. 7D is better then it. it having 22.2 x 14.8 MM . thou sony Z7 is more costly then 7D . i prefer 7D rather the Z7. even DSLR cam name Canon 5D which can shoot video is having Full frame 35 MM sensor. Sony Z7 can shoot only 50P & 60P but 7D can shoot 24P, 25P, 30P in Full HD & 50P & 60P in HD. canon 5D can shoot only 30P on Full HD. WHAT THE HELL THIS SONY IS DOING? 7D & 5D are cheaper then it but can give good result then Z7.
Say you have a Budget of 6K What would you say is the best buy the Z7, EX1, EX3 or the NX5e? Which Sony model will be the one that doesnt date so soon?
@JDMVideographing I have the same exact question. Personally, I like what I'm seeing from the z7 better than the EX1. I know the image quality of the EX1 is slightly better and it records native 1080p, but as far as ergonomics and flexibility goes the z7 looks better. The only thing that's stopping me from purchasing the Z7 is that the ex1/ex3 has a 1/2 inch chip, which gives you about a stop of light. Not sure if that stop of light is worth the additional cost.
@theryaner Yes very good point. The one thing that attracts me to the Z7 is the fact that you can change the lens which i think is a very good feature.
But then again for just alittle more money, The EX3 does the same. So im stil in deep thought about this. I like the NX5e bevause its the newest release out of them all but, if i can just see dating too fast. The EX1 i like but it hasent been that one that has really attracted me into it.
@JDMVideographing the EX3 is definitely the best of them all, but it's over 3k more than the z7. That 3k can be put elsewhere to increase the quality of your production. Also the added cost of sxs cards also kinda sucks. I film mainly short films, so I WILL have control over the lights in my scenes. But the z7 is a 2008 release and I don't feel comfortable buying something that's "old. I'm sure good videos can be produced with any one of these cameras, so I really don't know what to get.
@theryaner "But the z7 is a 2008 release and I don't feel comfortable buying something that's old." -- HDV is dead. No new products from Sony, Canon or JVC in the last two years. They have moved to tapeless. Panasonic moved to tapeless too.
Then in 2 to three years time there will be another one coming along and everyone will be after the lates gadget. Plus all these electronic cameras have a limited serviceable life which in my opinion makes them poor value for money, then theres the compatibility of the media that you used to record your production. Will it still be around in ten or twenty years from now? I doubt it.
@airscrew1 very good point, you should have been part of the product release team for sony when they put it out in the market!!! hahaha But that would still be an awesome camera to work with, i dont have any working cameras but i like filming and editing music projects/performances.
hey im a filmmaker going to buy a new camera. i need 3 chips, for sound i need 16 bit and 48mhz. and i need 2 be able 2 plug in a mike. can anyone suggest the cheapest camera out there with those specifications? i'd prefer sony or canon. please either reply or post a comment on my channel page. Thanks!
This camera is so good, still i think good old panasonic ag-dvx100 had much better color picture and was little better at low light situations. This sony also dont like lightened up stage in dark areas. And card reader was too faulty (2 of 3 gone not usable)
@maximiliaan1995 Not a stupid question at all :) Yes it is the same camera. The E stands for European support where P stands for Pacific area support.
This method of image acquisition records each individual movie frame not as a single snapshot of a point in time but by scanning across the frame either vertically or horizontally.
The Z7 does not shoot TRUE progressive.. I would not recommend to anyone to use the progressive feature. There is no chip on the market that can capture true progressive images, not even the RED can do this.. What you have to remember is that digital chip sensors (CMOS included) can only record light via scan lines.
Hi, thanks for your message. I'm not 100% sure what you mean. If you mean a tripod that would normally be suitable for an SLR stills camera then I would have to say no.
The weight of the camcorder is probably significant. However, more importantly tripods designed for video will be smoother but then that would also be based on how much you had to spend.
Me doing a YouTube tutorial will not be happening any time soon I'm afraid. Only because I have an absolute Nightmare trying to get YouTube to accept videos so I am not well placed to tutor just yet :)
