@SelimBH Kam Lee was never a great drummer, which is why I suspect that he switched to vocals for Massacre! Death and Mantas started out fairly raw and kinda sloppy. It took Chuck a while to become a refined, tight player, and to find great like minded musicians to play in Death.

This song was recorded in 1985. Why would the band have to be professional? Rick Rozz, Kam Lee and Chuck were just teens at the time; it would be unrealistic to expect very professional playing at that stage. Death had two more years until they would release SBG. Just download it; there is more than enough proof that it is Death.

@jupitersize Demo and rehearsal tapes are often raw and unpolished. Death and Mantas had a ton of demos and rehearsals that were sometimes just rough ideas that had mistakes and bad notes etc. Death didn't start out of the gate with the professional, seasoned sound of the Human LP.

Here are some really good songs by Death you guys probably haven't heard before.

The first song, called Grannie's Revenge, is really bluesy and has a few solos /watch?v=GlFjpb_vgQI

The second song is a funny 1950s' style parody: /watch?v=Z1Ljpo3LZXw

The third song, called Archangel, was one one of their demos; the riffs are incredible: /watch?v=Ld47G6y1k_A

This other song, entitled Seizure, has good riffs too; it's fairly long for an early Death song /watch?v=jVuBgeaSQVI.

In 1985, they would've only been teenagers. Their original content would be small in quantity and like most young bands they spent most of their early days doing covers. Also, they only became technically refined (like most death metal bands) as they progressed as musicians.
