But then saying that, they were a rude audience. No need to be that loud when people are trying to perform >.< I adore these two ^_^ The only noise coming from me would be happy squee-ing :D
god - i can't stand the fucking audience right now. holy shit can they get any more annoying?! jesus. jamie & harr are amazing as well which makes me hate the audience even more for being so fucking rude.
I don't trust Hanschen. I've known guys like him who seek out shy, inexperienced types like Ernst who they can take advantage of. I think in the end Hanschen will just brush him off and get married so he can keep 'working with the system.'
I love this scene. It's so adorable and funny. But seriously the audience...what a bunch of ass holes. Even if you're not comfortable with what is going on this is still theater and you should act responsible and respectful. If you don't like it shut your mouth then go cry to your mom about it after the show.
This audience is soo annoying!! Even when Hanschen moves closer to him you can hear someone going 'urgh'. So ignorant!!! This is my favourite scene in the whole musical <3

This audience is soo annoying!! Even when Hanschen moves closer to him you can hear someone going 'urgh'. So ignorant!!! This is my favourite scene in the whole musical <3
I swear, I can hear a few people in the audience going "ew"! C'mon, really?!? Are they stuck in the third grade where kisses are gross and everyone has coodies?
I was actually IN this audience, I was sitting in the first row of the balcony and I can't really recall people making those noises, maybe because I was far too into the show to notice, or maybe it was a certain little group more close to the camera person.
Not all the audience were horrible - and it got SO much applause and praise throughout, just a few ignorant people ruining great moments. :(
This is honestly the best thing I've ever seen. I bawled the entire way through it! x
I actually don't know what you find wrong with the audience... Perhaps it would have sounded different if I'd been in the room, but I don't find them that bad. I'm gay, and I probably would have laughed when this audience laughed. The scene is just so awkward, and was written to be a comedic relief scene, so I don't see why they shouldn't laugh. It's not meant to be taken that seriously...
I hate how that line is just sort of thrown away "I love you Hanschen, as I have never love anyone. And so you should." Something about those two lines cuts me right to the marrow of my bone. It make me hurt, in a way.
jesus the audience is horrible....you'd think an audience going into spring awakening would know that it's a controversial show and at least be respectful, but this isn't even that bad! can't imagine what they were like during the sex or masturbation scenes....
I just saw it in sydney australia. i have to agree they are my favorite couple! they're just so cute! The audience I saw it with was great, but the audience in the video seems to be making disapproving noises. Bit more than immature, if your going to go see a play that is about sexuality, deal with it. Anyway the british accents just seemed to work better, I think. Great video as well, great sound. :)
Oh God what an obnoxious audience. I'm sorry you had to sit through them. I have to say, for some reason, Hanschen and Ernst were my favorite couple in this show. No idea why, but I thought their scene was awkwardly funny, but very sweet at the same time
This show is a rock musical. I would much rather perform this scene for a giggling, loud audience, than one that just sat there and watched. It seemed to me that they just weren't expecting the kiss. Nobody said or did anything rude. Besides, this isn't a "moving" scene. Hanschen is a manipulative prick, and that's what's being demonstrated here. And, it's funny. People are supposed to laugh.
This was cute. Too bad about the audience though. i love how Ernst jumps on Hanschen and they make out lol :D Jamie is like my favorite Hanschen now, Well....I still like Andy too lol. Oh, and Johnny B. lol...
As an actor I know what it's like to have a bad audience like that. This scene is moving... I've been looking for a good musical with a scene like this....
i love this scene! and this cast! i have to say the guy who played moritz was the best moritz i've seen! though to be fair i've only seen Iwan Rheon and Blake Bashoff! but i've seen clips, and Iwan is in my opinion the best Moritz!
i don't think they were that bad either! just a bit shocked at the first kiss! but other than that they were just a bit louder than most! not necessarily a bad thing =D
@LeoLaredoMusic I know, especially in London! I live in a very conservative area of the US and when the tour came here people were applauding during this scene!
thank you so much for this!! =D i've been looking for a video of them forever. wanted to re-live the memories. :P hehe. big shame about the audience some people are just. gah!!!!
Omg that was so funny :) i saw the last 2.30 performance :( i wana see it again, shame it's over. Ill have to save up to see it in america. Soo good :)X
i live in the U.S so ive seen the broadway and tour cast many times lolz but i love this ive seen blake and ben and gerard do it but i love this ernst his great love how he not timid and shy like the broadway ersnt
love iT .....gah now i want to see the london cast tell them to come here
im guessing u just sit in silence when watching a show?
as an actor i know its fuckin hard to feed of a silent audience. At least this crowd gave the actrs something to feed from.
granted it may be the wrong food but the actors persist and you can see that jamie is using the audience. hes worked out how theywork very soon and hes changing his tone to suit them. ive worked with jay and hed say thesame thing as me. so why is everyone bitching about the audience?
brilliant, i'm so glad we can keep watching at least some of the scenes even though it's ended! And it's interesting to see the slight changes in how they played the parts in each performance. It's quite different to the times I saw it
I'd never seen a video of the UK cast and... what can I say. I'm smitten. Why oh why did it close?
This was certainly a was a different take on Ernst. I liked it, though, it was kind of... refreshing.
I know I'm gonna get hated on for the criticism, but the duet reminded me very strongly of Broadway's. In my opinion, I prefer Ben and Andy's; it's gentler and seems to fit better. The harshness seems almost mocking to me. (Just my opinion.)
You're lucky you didn't see the final Broadway performance if you hate audiences that react strongly. Everytime either of them talked there was racous laughter. Matt Doyle (Hanscen) got a cheer almost everytime he talked. I've never seen an actor run a scene and an audience the way he did, it was impressive.
I actually was at the final performance on Broadway - but under those special circumstances, it didn't bother me. People got a little out of control at that last show but it was such an incredibly emotional night for everyone.
it wasn't at all that they were loud, im pretty sure the problem was the moaning, and the "eww's" that were heard when they boys were kissing, i personally have no problem with enthusiastic audiences :)
For me the Eww-ish reactions are the problem as well, also that sound that's made when Jamie first moves in Harry's direction ( at "Think of the future...)
Harry (Ernst) and I had a long chat at the stage door as he was worried that gay people would find the scene offensive (because of all the laughing). They didn't play the scene for laughs. I sent him a long letter (which he showed Jamie) supporting both of them - I loved the scene! I am just sorry they are both straight.
They're actors. Believe it or not, kissing someone of the same sex isnt that difficult. In my alevel drama class the boys do it when required for scenes and stuff. If you pick a person for a role because of their sexuality, its whats known as discrimination.
My lord! What a terrible audience! If they react like this when I'm performing the show I won't be happy! :L
