  • What he hell is on the guy Bill's head?

  • 2:51 he used "sub" as a clue for "substitute" and they didn't buzz him? COME ON!

  • @Pyrotech56

    I thought the same thing.

For those that find this clip and are unaware if you use a part of the password in a clue its actually supposed to be deemed illegal. Someone got away with one there

  • GSN recently showed a Password Plus puzzle where Allen Ludden was the answer. The passwords were EDUCATED, SPECTACLES, HOST, PASSWORD, and PLUS. He said on a later episode that he hated that puzzle.

  • I wonder why he would hate that puzzle...

  • @STOPobama1a: Maybe because it would take every fiber of his being not to ruin the puzzle for everyone. Or he was just not liking the answers. Otherwise known as these days as "pulling a Bert Convey" xD

  • "If it's not Bill Cullen, I'm going home."

    LOL!

  • Most may not remember it but Bill Cullen also hosted The Price is Right too from 1956-1965!

  • I wonder how many game shows he hosted all together in his life? He did a great job at it!

  • I always loved watching Bill Cullen. I also thought it was a shame he never really got a 'trademark' game -- though "Blockbusters' did come close.

  • Panelists often are associated with trademark games just as strongly as being host. The regular panelists on To Tell The Truth, What's My Line, Hollywood Squares and Match Game were the stars of those shows. Bill Cullen, Peggy Cass, Kitty Carlise, Orson Bean, Arlene Francis, Dorothy Kilgallen, Paul Lynde, Wally Cox, Rose Marie among them.

  • True, but notice that NONE of the people you note on that impressive list EVER HOSTED a game - with the exception of Bill Cullen. BC did it for 30+ years -- in addition to being a panelist. That's my point!

  • Orson Bean hosted a pilot for a revival of Concentration .

Arlene Francis hosted Blind Date in the 50's

  • Oops, my bad -- I had forgotten about Blind Date.

Now that you mention it, I seem to recall GSN showing an ep during "Black and White Sunday night" a few years back. But I never heard of Mr. Bean doing a pilot for Concentration.

  • He did; it's around here somewhere. Also, I believe Arlene subbed for Bill on Price is Right way back when.

  • Gotta disagree there. It took Bob Barker fifteen years to get people to associate "The Price is Right" with him instead of Bill Cullen. The original TPIR had been a phenomenom for nearly ten years, and Cullen was just as identified with TPIR as Bob Barker for all the generations that had seen him (including me; I met him one day at Schrafft's when I was five years old around the block from the Hudson Theater in Times Square, where TPIR was born six months after me)..

  • I LOVE GSN!!! I watch GSN everyday. I like watching GSN. Its one of my favorite channels. I also like the Speed channel. My Favorite Game Show is The Price is Right. GSN should Show that show on their network. I really love GSN. I have to go now- I have to Go watch Nascar Now on ESPN2. Bye!!!!!!!

  • OK... I like GSN, too, but I'm certainly not quite as obsessed as you!

  • For "Substitute," I would have said "Replacement" as a clue.

  • What is UP with Bill Anderson's hair?

  • He's had worse hair cuts than that one.

  • Interesting he should mention "Chain Reaction" hosted by Geoff Edwards, not because Edwards was subbing for Bill on that show, but because starting in 1987, Edwards would host that exact same show in a run that would last 4 years.

  • Geoff Edwards hosted "The New Chain Reaction" in 1986 which was taped in Canada for six years. He subbed for Bill Cullen in the 1980 version of "Chain Reaction" while Bill subbed for Allen Ludden. I feel that Geoff could've hosted "Password Plus" later on and it would've been his first Goodson-Todman game show.

  • I actually heard he was originally tapped to host "Family Feud", but at the time he was still under contract with Chuck Barris Productions hosting "Treasure Hunt", so that prevented him from doing so.

  • Actually, Blake Emmonds hosted "The New Chain Reation" in 1986. Geoff Edwards hosted "Chain Reaction" in 1991.
