  • I have a medical interview later this year and one thing interviewers are looking for is a passion for medicine. Being an undergraduate I don't think I have any compelling stories where I was the hero. It can be difficult trying to give an example and still sound genuine especially when you know honesty is high on the agenda as well. Eventually I hope I don't end up sounding to zealous.

I have thought about it and wish to ask, should I talk about how I got to this point in the interview?

  • @d00mch1ld - it depends on what got you to this point in the interview. If it was your passion for medicine, fine. Just being in the hunt should be a minimal indicator of our passion for medicine. You just need to give some specifics about what drew you to the medical profession and you can use second person and third person stories if they were part of what built your interest and your passion for the field.

  • Thanks a lot Brian those are great points I can build on. In Australia we sit something called GAMSAT (our MCAT) + GPA of our latest degree. Depending on the university, additional material may be needed like a portfolio which would include community involvement, awards, rural appreciation and other personal achievements. On top of that comes the interview. So it can be a fairly lengthy process but not as competitive as it is in the States.

Appreciate all your videos and thanks for the primer.

  • What if you have no passionate examples. I'm working on getting a better job but it's hard to give passionate examples when your only jobs have been a paper route and substitute teacher. any suggestion mr.Kreuger for glossing up a lack of experience? I mean the job i'm going for isn't really a must have experience kind of deal but I know a lot of people going for it will have the direct experience they're looking for.

  • We all have examples about which we are passionate, it's just a matter of degrees. Simply look for the examples where you have the most passion and use them. It's the stories of your work and your life experiences that you tell others. Those are the passionate examples to use in your interviews.

  • very good idea. interviewers don't want dull people or people not into what they are they for...

  • tnx
