  • how often did you increase the weight for squat? I can do 275lbs 4-6x/set , so I'm thinking about raising it 295 next week, but I will be on vacation for two week, so I'm not sure if I should raise it 2 weeks later, I might get weaker in 2 weeks? and for the calf raises/lunges how much weight did you use? I lose flexibility when I do heavy on calfraises. I'm also not sure if that's better than lighter weight with more flexibility. btw, how's your progess?

  • @airbong23 increase the weight as often as you can! when your on vacation, do some single leg squats (pistol squats) to keep your strength up...unless you feel like your body just needs a break. then just take the time to rest. i've been battling some injuries the last few weeks so haven't been able to train (back and ankle). today is my first day back to training...so excited to get back on it.

  • I think 36-37" running vertical. I can usually hang on the rim on good days, but that's about it, and I think I jump lower when I try to dunk, but I think I will be able to throw it down once I reach 40" consistently. I have lower shoulder than other 5'11" probably close to 5'9" guy's shoulder height.

  • @airbong23 what is your reach?

  • @myjumpmanual 7'5"

  • I uploaded another short footage, the camera angle was bad, but you can see that I'm jumping little higher than the other day. Still it wasn't my best jump, it was after 2 intense games (3vs3 semifinals, and I shot pretty good and long 3s to win :) ) but I think I got 2 inches higher than last time.

  • @airbong23 those are better jumps for sure man! what is the highest you have ever jumped?

  • aboutt the core, I do about 2 min planks each sides 2-3sets, lower leg lifts (40-60times 3 sets sometimes with 20lbs ankle weights), and 30-40 crunches 3 sets, about twice a week.

  • thanks for watching. I do ATG squat with lower weights(<200lbs), and I try to go parallel with heavy weights. That squat video is from last year, and I think I already showed that squat video to Jacob, but he didn't comment much on it. I think I go lilttle lower now. I'm gonna play ball on Thursday, so I will try to take a footage after I'm warmed up. Not sure I will fully recover from yesterday's exercise tho.

  • I'm so sore from yesterday's workout...did you get a chance to see my video?

  • @airbong23 yes, i think your technique is pretty good actually. would be interested in seeing your jumps when you are warmed up . i think on your running jump could be a bit more aggressive but could be due to not being warmed up. i didn't see any real obvious mistakes. are you doing much core work? on your squats, i would see about going lower...didn't look like you going to parallel and also try to explode up more quickly. i'd show those to jacob during next coaching session as well

  • thanks. yeah, last time I had a coaching session with Jacob was in April. I need some good feedbacks so I can gain few more inches soon. Ok, my video is uploaded.

  • yup, I do plyometrics. I follow most of the exercises from jumpmanual, and try to take 3-4 days rest with good protein shakes. I will post up my warm up std vert and running vert and send you the link soon. I think I have my old exercsise video that I showed to Jacob. Maybe you can give me some suggestions as well

  • @airbong23 cool. i'm certainly no expert but happy to watch and give you some feedback. i try to go to jacob's weekly coaching sessions as often as possible. they have been really helpful. i would definitely ask him for his advice if you haven't recently.

  • I'm 5'11" and weigh about 160. I just remembered I jumped about the same height around this time of last year. That makes me feel disappointed now :(

  • @airbong23 275x5 @ 160 bodyweight is pretty good. are you doing plyometrics? how's your jump technique?

  • just came back from work out, my vertical wasn't good today, but I still tried to measure my standing vertical. I think I usually jump 2-3 more inches higher when I'm warmed up. I just watched all your videos and my standing vert is like your week6 vert, but I've been on this program for over a year now. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but on good days I can usually hang on the rim at ease. Just did 275lbsx5 squats today and rest of the workouts today. I wish my gains are consistent and quicker.

  • @airbong23 very normal to be able to jump higher on some days than others due to sleep, rest, soreness, how warmed up you are, adrenaline, etc. 275x5 is pretty dang good. how much do you weigh? i wish my gains were more consistent and quicker too! :-)

  • hey, when are you gonna make ur next vid and what's ur running vert atm?

  • @The2cool2b I'd say its defiantly worth it! Check out my recent vid! It's of my friend, he's 6'1 and skinny. When he started he had a 25" vert and now he has a 32" vert and he's only 14!

  • @FalconFlightFF just watched your vid. pretty good -- especially at 14! thanks for sharing!

  • Hey i am 14 years old skinny and 6ft 1" i can touch rim on some days idk if i should i get the jump manual Ive seen all of your videos and i think you improved alot but i dnt know if i can, i dnt have an access to a gym so all i can do is wrkout at home. Also i am a vegetarian and i saw in one of your comments you replied to someone tht you have to eat rite stuff like fish chicken and stuff and i cnt eat all that. I wnt to dunk so badly wat should i do??

  • @The2cool2b access to a gym is ideal but not required. i do most of the workouts at home. you do need to have protein after your workouts - but doesn't have to be from meat. i have green smoothies for breakfast every morning after my workouts and add sun warrior protein which is made from rice. bottom line - don't let access to a gym or dietary restrictions stop you. if you want to dunk, figure out a way to achieve your goal and go do it! good luck!

  • @myjumpmanual Thanks bro ! !! im going to ask my dad to buy the jump manual when he comes back and get started asap !! Thanks for the motivation!! :)

  • WE WANT NEW VIDS WOOO!!!

  • @kowy41 lol! i want new videos too! but waiting to post new vids when i have some new dunks!!! got to get 2 hand down! should be soon...i'm still posting info on my blog if you want to check it out. link is in video description.

  • @myjumpmanual yo to get that two hand dunk have you just been following jump manual still? or different stuff

  • @StevenDunks yep, still doing jump manual with a few modifications. for example, i'm lifting (squats, deadlifts, etc) 2 times per week instead of 1 time per week. also got my bodyfat tested and it's way too high, so being more disciplined on my diet. i've got to get a lot leaner!

  • @myjumpmanual cool im doin more plyometrics and its helping i keep increasing im very close

  • @StevenDunks sweet man! post a new vid! can't wait to see your first dunk!

  • @myjumpmanual hopefully soon

  • hey man on this dunk how high you think you got on this dunk? meaning like wrist level? or more?

  • @StevenDunks i would say around wrist level not much more

  • Just completed 2nd round of jump manual about a week ago only gained 2 inches max.

Touching the backboard of an official 10 ft

rim. Can grab 9 ft 8 rim

It sucks man, only an inch shorter than you and cant even TOUCH the rim.

Would it be possible for you to give me any tips on jumping form - as that may be the diagnosis.

    Thanks

  • @HyperSlam11 how much do you weigh? how much do you squat? how much do you deadlift? i would need to see a video of you jumping to give you suggestions.

  • Have you gave up??

  • @HyperSlam11 no way! been training harder than ever...will be posting new vids soon. just would like to have some new stuff. how is your training going?

  • Get the new videos up man!!!

  • I have a question. I'm 14 and 5'8" (I'm short), and I am about 2 inches from touching the rim with a running jump. I was wondering how many weeks of the jump manual it would take me to start grabbing rim, I have been thinking about buying it because I am going back to the states in March (currently overseas), and I would like to dunk or at least touch rim. Please reply, thanks!

  • @Random4UVids to grab the rim you probably need around 4 inches above the rim so that means you probably need to gain 6 inches on your vertical. impossible to tell you how long it will take to gain 6 inches. but it can be done through hard work in a relatively short period of time. i can tell you that it will happen much faster if you set some goals and consistently follow a program such as the jump manual.

  • have you done a tomahawk dunk yet? I'm just curious.

  • @alexalex9635 not yet! still working on it!

  • wow I've seen your videos since the first one. You've made a lot of progress, have you ever dunked in a real game before?

  • @tearbearakaterryberr thanks man! haven't dunked in a real game...yet! just started city league and gonna get one if it kills me!

  • So this means you would swear with no biased opinion that the jump manual program actually works?

  • @WorkoutSmith23 yes - the jump manual is a great program. watch my other videos if you want to see where i started and the progress i've made so far.

  • I swear i've already seen that one leg dunk from a previous vid of yours! haha :P

  • @JamesHodge94 you sure have! just wanted to share the story behind the dunk! :-)

  • @myjumpmanual Haha was a story with a good ending

  • im 5'7" and i probably could get a reach of 9'8" off two feet. How tall are you? You going to be my motivation to be able to dunk!

  • @stanbhigh i'm 5'11"

  • @myjumpmanual why you are not putting any videos or writing on your blog anymore? did you give up?

  • @MrTheMataramasuko no way man! still training hard. will post another video soon.

  • hey keep up the good work! its great motivation im 5'10 im on my first week of the jump manual and i can hang with one hand hopefully dunking in about 6-7 weeks when do you test your vertical on the 7th day of each week? thanks great job

  • @StevenDunks thanks man! i play basketball 2-3 times per week so i usually test it everytime i play. good luck with your training!

  • take that guys! ahahah!

    1 foot leap FTW!
