Bob Knight was a great coach. He never had great talent at Indiana U. Isaih Thomas was his only true NBA talent. Still he won 3 NCAA championships. He would have had 5, had not Scott May broken his hand and Alan Henderson not blown out his knee. Still, I am glad that IU did not rename Assembly Hall after him like North Carolina did their arena for Dean Smith. I would rather play for calm and ecouraging John Wooden then irascible and degrading Bob Knight.

This was so overblown by the media, if my son broke eye contact with his coach, or boss, or congressman, or preacher, or president when they were speaking to him I'd slap him across his disrespectful face...learn to make eye contact like a man and you wont need your coach to teach you how to act like one...as far as BK style, as long as he follows up good behavior with positive re-enforcement then I have no problem with him going off on bad behavior...

His style of coaching is perfect. He makes his players dislike him enough so they don't have enough time to get mad at eachother, but like him enough to respect what he has to say. I would love to see this guy coach a football team though..shit, they'd be the most mentally sound team in the game.
