  • 5 people lost thier hats and were pissed. 67 people lost there hats and were crazy with glee. :)

  • Where exactly was the one that came really close?

  • i lived in Battlefield, Mo at the time. It was on the other side of the park, the park was right outside my house. We were outside watching it til my dad yelled at me and my friends

  • I lived in marionville, Mo at the time!

that monster got about 1/4 mile from my house

lifted up my trampoline and threw it down three houses down :)

  • Run away, if you can.

  • yeah we had an EF-4 in KC and some smaller ones around the area causing damage one dude died

  • @EliteAmericans Actually an F-4 which is quite a bit more intense!

  • my house outside mville got destroyed in this right before we moved in

  • The may 4 outbreak is when we had a bunch of twisters up in Kansas City, Ks. One of them was a large EF-4 Wedge that went between KC and Lansing.

  • haha at 6:12 there's a TORNAINBOW!

  • I Live In Sw Kansas A Small Town Named Galena Kansas. I Reamember This Day. I Was At My Grandmas House When I Was Watching Cartoons I Looked Out The Window Seen The Tornado In The Out In The Field Screame Like A Girl Yelled At My Grandparents And My Brother To Get In The Basement. It Was Cool Looking But Scary As Hell To See It That Close...I Want To Start Chasing Them As Soon As I Get My Car. I Got Some Friends That Would Love To. So In The Near Future We Are Going To Start Chasing As Well....

  • this day scared the shit outta of me. i live in springfield and sevral nearly hit us it was scary as fucking hell watching the guys on tv warning us to stay down cause there was so many tornadoes ripping thro sw mo

  • Out of respect for the people who died, why not cut the sound or just do all music?

  • holy shit thats on my birthday

  • anyway i think what you guys do takes guts. but also i don't thinks its the smartest thing but... it is very entertaining

  • lol this is on my birtday and in MO which i'm from

  • Dvorak??? haha.. we played this song for Marching Band my senior year

  • wow!!1 this is crazy this tornado hit my freaking house wow when i looked up the date i diddnt think id find it but this tornado flipped my cousins trailer and tore the crap out of my house!!1

  • Excellent choice of music for the beginning of the video! I would love to chase tornadoes one of these days...already chase (well film) severe thunderstorms.

  • i live in kansas city and i remember this day every one was scared to shit

  • Nice job guys! I'm 15, i think what you guys do every storm season is the coolest thing in the world. Keep chasing!

  • smell the tornado

  • Technical notes .. the dialogue adds precious little .. better to have absolute silence and use a super ear to pick-up whatever audio is available. Also employ tripods and UV filters to cut haze. Employ new windshield wipers to cut raindrops off dirty windows (4:20). Forensically - it's the upper structure that's of interest. Have multiple cameras - one black and white (high contrast) with possible time-lapse feature .. for better swirling action of upper clouds. Kirk out!

  • This thing was a little over a mile from having a direct hit on our house. We watched it from my in-law's house in another town. Very scary! It's storming here right now. Starting to get used to it! LOL!

  • not one dang severe t stom in my part of Missouri yet and I'am mad too lol

  • Come on over to the southwest side! It has become a pretty common occurance since 2003! You are bound to get your fill;)

  • Anyone knows the name of the song that appears in the video?

  • Dvorak: New World Symphony, 4th movement

  • Thanks! :D

Good luck for the rest of that storm season!! ;)

  • There may be some bad stuff in my part of missouri today though monday . YAHOO! LOL

  • I was on the 2nd tornadic supercell in Cherokee County. I was on the tornado as it was going through the are near Crestline. I viewed the tornado from about 3-4 miles away. I just recently posted my video of it.

  • they were only 5 miles from my house where they filmed that second tornado

  • I was 8 then.. I got hit by it. I never got to see it, though. Thanks xD

  • Really ? You ware ten? I was 13.

  • I was in Basheor Kansas at the time, and i watched the one that hit KCK touchdown it was pretty much amazing for my 10 year old eyes lol

  • Oh yah rember that day. I saw the coulds but nothing ever hit my part of Missouri.

  • Awesome footage. Supercell #3 is the same one that had a tornado touch back down and passed through Battlefield and destroyed half the town. The damage path was less than 2 blocks from my house. I sure wish I would have had my camera handy. I could have got some spectacular footage.

  • Once again more people who have that "nothings ever good enough" attitude. He screams cause he loves it. I'd like to see those complaining do what they do in silence. Get over it.

  • I lived in Battlefield missouri when that twister hit. That tornado you were looking at came with in a half of a mile from my house.

  • next time dont take your manchild friend with tourettes

  • He is a bit excitable, but Dave Reed is one of the most respected stormchasers that worked under Dr. Josh Wurman. He has great instincts when it comes to this, if you can get past the constant screaming, lmao.

  • Its Reed Timmer u idiot lol..

  • lmao. Yeah, my bad. Close enough, though. But hey, thanks for pointing it out, icecoldZima:)

  • Its all good!!!

  • Awesome tornados spoilt by childish excitement and terrible camera technique - a lost opportunity for some brilliant footage.

  • This is some brilliant footage. What you call childish excitement and terrible camera technique is the whole amateur aspect that makes it great.

  • dude thats really dangurest to do

  • Awesome video!

  • That was AWESOME! Especially the 2nd one..loved the music too..made me giggle a little..haha

  • We played the song in the begining in band this year it was a fun piece. it remineded me of jaws and star wars.( The song is movement #4 from I forget the entire songs name)

  • hmm...Isnt that piece Fantasia on Greensleeves or something? from what I remember.

  • no, I now know thats its from the new world symphony

  • lol the cows were just eating the grass as a tornado is behind them

  • You guys absolutely rock, so much more than the tornado chasers on tv who are arrogant, way too consious of being video-taped, and are way too much of pansies to actually go near a funnel. Well done, video and all.

  • On that day 3 tornados merged in the feild across from our house it was freaky. I lived in Vermont Illinois. It was not vary fun that day!!

  • OMG I TURNED 7 THAT DAY! lol

  • man i was in the f-4 that barreled through the speedway in kansas city kansas. scary shit it was i huge! i couldnt see the ends of it before we got to our neighbors. man we are so lucky it didnt hit the speedway do you know how many millions of dollars or cars would be flying through the air?! i was in second grade.

  • aw0s0m3

  • Time While Driving: 4 Hours and 10 Minutes

  • Ive never seen a tornado at my whole live... but that was amazing

  • You should knock on wood!

  • i live in pittsburg about 5 to 10 min away i saw the whole thing it was pretty amazing especially since there was a rainbow when it was done.

  • I'm from Stockton, Missouri and luckily was out of town but that screwed up the town but they bounced back. I was actually south towards Republic when they got hit that same day. Great footage guys! Keep up the good work!

  • that second cell tornado had a rainbow next to it:remember, God said a rainbow me hope and he will not do that again..... thx for the vidio

  • i've seen F1 F2 F3 F4 but i have not seen a F5 i would love to see a F5

  • Dude..I want to see one myself. It would be o cool.

  • It's cool if it's not heading towards you. Even then, there is a combination of awe, joy, and sheer terror. Definitely worth it.

  • man i'd be kickin back with a j, chillin n shit. Tornadoes are cool cats.

  • I've neven been close to a tornado, but I didn't know you could smell it?!

  • They smell like whatever type of debris they are currently shredding and spewing into the air.

  • guess I botched that comment. I meant to explain that my first tornado was also during that same May 4, 2003 outbreak. I remember it was 6:01 as we drove away from it. 6:00, May 4, 2003...6,5,4,3 found that odd. *shrug* I'm a freak. lol

  • If you have never been IN or NEAR a tornado, you don't understand the inability to control those "inane" statements...it's called ADRENALINE! I experienced my first tornado and I shot pics of the tornado that looks incredibly like your second one. I was 1/5 of a mile from where the damage path was across Smithfield, taking pics from CR-330. GREAT JOB GUYS!

  • Agreed! They are terrifying! They are amazing on film, and I bet it's a massive thrill to see them up close, but they absolutely terrify me.

  • I feel sorry for those cows... lol

  • stupid stupid people

  • Finally...pictures of the tornado that I was smack dab in the middle of. The second one, I mean. Never did see it coming or going, only dealt with the aftermath.

  • Amazing vid guys -- Thankfully tornadoes are the one thing, unlike Mac's & Starbucks, the U.S. has not exported to England -- but if global warming is a reality - watch this space. Condolences to family & friends of those in Kansas -- yes it's big News here as well today.

  • chelseacoolblues- actually I believe the UK has one of the highest incidences of tornadoes in the world, they just tend to be weak.

  • KatieandCoco you are correct - I have seen them - the ones I have seen have been 10 foot high and just kick-up some dry grass and dust - I don't want to be in the path of one their American cousins

  • the inane commentaries and childish exclamations TOTALLY give this video the realistic 'you are there' feel. Great job, guys.

  • A pity the videos are ruined by the inane commentaries and childish exclamations.

  • that was the day of my birthday

  • Lol that person was like noooo!!!!

  • hey i live in girard

  • i kno the stockton 1 because my grandparents live there and so do my uncles and aunt and it was crazy

my grandfather and uncle were up on the hill at my grandparents and they watched it go through the whole town

my aunt and uncles house was gone we had to help clean up and me and my cousin found a matress and a check from south oklahoma

  • i kno the stockton 1 because my grandparents live there and so do my uncles and aunt and it was crazy

  • ooooooo...pretty rainbow. :P

This is really good, dude. You just get a feel for the power of the twister. It's also amazing how a series of clouds and strong winds can form such beautiful monstrosity. Just plain gorgeous. Very good job; this is EXACTLY what i wanna do when i get older.

  • fuck....I would of pissed my pants by then....wow

  • Actually there was 3 tornados that passed through stockton mo. that day.One confirmed f3 that looked to be about 3/4 of a mile wide when it hit the city limits.I got considerably smaller as it moved into town but still did alot of damage. There were also 2 f1's that did minimal damage on the outskits of town.Unfortunately I didnt get any video footage because I left my camera in my fathers 26 foot sail boat during the storm. The boat was never found.

  • there was no more tornadoes there was only 1 the f3

  • Guys this is great footage. What a rush! I lived in Monett 5 SE of Pierce City. All I could see was black to the NW and a low continous audible rumble. Freakiest sight I've ever seen.

  • Now I wanna watch 'Twister' again!

  • I just want you guys to know that that last tornado didn't go near pierce city, it went strait through it. It completely destroyed the town. and along with it a tornado also went through stockton missouri on that day too.

  • Yep i remember that day i lost my house and cars to a tornado that hit battlefield mo.

  • yeah...rainbow next to a tornado...interesting. but i loved it and am fasinated by tornados. nice job!

  • 6.03 rainbow..wow

  • umm its preety good but it could use some music in the video not just at the begging

  • pretty awesome! Really cool. I'm always inmpressed how close you guys move to the twister itself. like driving away in front of it only 500 meters away or so.
