  • i want this samamp VAC23 in Italy...very nice tone...:-)

  • damn. you sing really good

  • What string gauge are you using! Awesome tone! I close my eyes and i see Stevie! You really nailed it!

  • @DarkVelizar i believe he uses 12s

  • if i was listening to your voice only, i would've thought it was lyle lovett. this is wonderful.

  • Excellent - I thoroughly enjoyed this :] 5*****

  • Are are a good player, but have you ever considered trying to find your own style instead of coping srv?

  • Nice Job Bro! I've got the VAC 45.... I think I'm gonna ask Sam about a 15" Extension cab... got some questions for you though about settings and booster pedals?

  • Nice Job Bro! I've got the VAC 45.... I think I'm gonna ask Sam about a 15" Extension cab... got some questions for you though about settings and booster pedals?

  • You good, man.

Picked up a Blues Junior not so long ago. It's awesome.

  • man you've got a great voice to compliment that playing!

  • How did you get your timing so spot on?

  • @AndrewWells20 Practice, practice and practice I think! ;)

  • Wow... that was great singing and playing and I love your tone. I pulled up this video not expecting such quality and talent. You rock!

  • How did you learn the notes for the SRV song's? By ear, tabs, music sheets or other? Your timing is excellent. The number one characteristic that 90% of the guitarist on youtube are missing. Also fineseand palying the notes precise(clean).

    Do you have a demo?

You need to be starting your own blues band and start touring.

    Do you write music?

  • @cgambarrotti Everything I play was learned by ear. I agree that timing is huge, it took me a long time to realize that :-) You can find a bunch of my old music at StevieSnacks...

  • dude do you use condenser or dynamic mics for the guitar?

  • @gavincfc SM-57 dynamic.

  • holy shit, awesome playing and GREAT singing!

    greetings from germany

  • that's a sweet tone you have there. I'm jealous. Great playin as well man!

  • great job ,

can you say anything about albert kings gear pedals ,amps

    really weird and mysterious sound

    keep on rocking

  • If your total compounded overdrive was on a scale from one to ten, I would say yours maybe around 3. It sounds like SRV is maybe around 4 on this song. Otherwise, amazing playing. I wish I could practice hard enough to do this.

  • That was cool. Where can I get sounds tracks to play along with like this one?

  • what recording gear did you use to record?

  • just wondering if you think the tone is much better using a clean boost, rather than turning up the gain on the amp. i noticed the gain on the amp was only half way, and it would seem if you turn the gain up 4 notches you could have the same sound and delete one pedal out of the chain. let me know your thoughts please.

  • I like to keep the tone of the amp only a bit overdriven, so that during quieter sequences, I can turn off all the pedals and get a cleaner tone.

  • I've been watching your videos for a while, and dude... you've gotten really good! Some of the best SRV covers and tones I've ever seen, keep it up!

  • I've been thinking the same thing, man he's come a long way.

  • Ok, between the new amp, the explanation on tube amps workings and this demonstration...I've gained a new respect for his guy. Now maybe I'll listen a little more to what he's saying.

  • 2:47-2:57 is just SICK! Listened to this about 4 times. It was amazing each time!

  • I recognise loads of those licks from texas flood

    very memorable peformance, Bravo

  • I didnt know this guy could sing also..Very Cool!!!!

  • nice

  • I guess about as close to stevie as ill ever get is my 97model srv strat although i do own a guitar pick that he pitched into the crowd in a 1985 concert along with the ticket stub from the concert. The last time i researched it the pick was valued at about 850.00 it just happens to be one of the most desirable multicolor picks. Lucky Me i guess.

  • Man i would give anything to be able to play like that. I have owned a guitar my whole life though i laid it down for many years i picked it back up a couple yrs. ago and i have been very serious about it. i eat, sleep and breath music now, but i just cant seem to get pass the fairly simple stuff. It almost makes me want to quit trying. It seems im better at listening. Your a GREAT player.

  • Awesome lick at 4:11! Is it from Stevie?

  • @Hawkeye62158 Yes.

  • man what a great player, and every bit as good a singer!

  • you should sing more i didn't know you were that good

  • What a brilliant artist i have learnt much from you.

  • Superb job, my friend!

  • Would you say that the thing that makes one neck pickups tone different from another neck pick up, considering we are talking about high quality ones like fralin, lollar, & rocketfire, would be the OHM number???

For example, the Fralin Blues Special neck is 6.2K and the Lollar Blackface Neck is 6.4K so...

Do you think think there would be a big difference in tone between those two pickups since they are both high quality & almost the same Ohm???

  • The difference between any of these pickups and stock pickups is huge. The difference between one set of high-end pickups and another set is less of a difference in my opinion. I've tried 3 different brands and they've all made me happy.

  • I'm not hearing a big difference in tone after you switch on the Boss GE-7 EQ here.

    Question:

are you able to achieve better lower volumes with this Samamp 23 vs the Blues Jr, seeing how you can take the Samamp down to only 3 watts, and the Blues Jr is 15 watts?

    thanks!

  • The GE-7 boost is pretty subtle on the video, more noticible in person.

For absolutely, whisper quiet, overdriven tone, the blues junior is better. The Samamp does not get as gritty at really, really low volumes, when compared to the Blues Junior with the input gain maxed, and the master set to low.

But past a certain volume threshold, the Samamp is in a different league.

  • Great tone, great voice. What brand/model pickups did you put in it?

  • Smokin...

    Cheers.

  • This is awesome!

    thanks for sharin ....

  • Your tone is just sick. Nicely done.

  • Brilliant playing!

  • And now you sing with soul... is there anything you cannot do?! :)

  • Thanks for posting this! The amp sounds good! I'm thinking about getting one in the next month or two. Yeah you should post one of Life Without You or Lenny using this amp next. Or that Love Song you wrote. The tone is amazing how you are getting that much saturation with out having to use your Nobels or a Tubescreamer.

  • HELL YEAH! awesome..

  • yeah.. do life without you

im looking forward to see you play an acoustic guitar

BTW nicely done 5 stars for sure

  • STEVIE LIVES!

  • Awesome job on the guitar and vocals!

  • Hey Anthony, that was wicked slick! Could you throw a copy of it in the SSnacks download store?! That's iPod material... great job bro'!

  • Not much to say about the playing, since it's excellent as always, but dude, the *singing*....damn, you've been hiding that trick up your sleeve for a while now!

You mind doing "Life Without You" sometime? It'd be sick if you did...

  • I love the part at 1:59 til 2:05 lick. That is amazing! Can you show how you do that?

    Anyway love your video

  • highway one here, thaaaaaaat wass sick,

  • Damn Stevie, get down.

  • can't wait to see this guy on tour one of these days.

  • Nice job, music with feeling. I can listen to someone who believes in the music their playing all day long. Thanks for sharing.

  • Wow, I am amazed by the quality of your singing! More please...

  • I recognised a bunch of those licks from your lessons! Glad to see proof that they really rock out if you practice all the time.

  • I don't know what was going on from 3:15 to 3:33, but I loved that part. Way cooool.

  • Those are multi-string bends and I'll be teaching those in the "Bending" lesson from my Essential Techniques series, should be out right before Christmas :-)

  • Just Tops.

  • You have some powerful and soulful vocals, brother! Way to let it flow!

  • great stuff dude!

  • Great Stevie tone on that.

  • This is really good i'm impressed

  • yessss. dude. more videos of you just jammin. this is great!

  • Woooooooooo...just Woooooooooooo :)

  • you have a very nice voice

  • nice man loved it

  • Nothing short of AWESOME...you nailed it !

  • If I had a lighter it would be lit and waving over my head. encore baby encore!!!

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • great performance...

    your best video to date...

  • that was very impressive, have you always been able to sing like that or have you been working on it? (great guitar playing by the way)

  • I improved a lot in the last band i was in with the help of a program called "Singing Success", I still could use a lot of improvement, but am much better than I used to be.

  • Fantastic!

  • anthony, i had no idea you could sing!!

  • Yeah wow, great siniging too, aesome guyitar :D drunk !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anthony,,I am having a hard time doing the really fast licks,,I am 41 years old and have been playing for years. Do you have any advice or practice tips to help me get faster?? Thanks for your time. I really admire your talent.

  • play everything really, really slow, for a long awhile. and with a metronome. gradually raise the bpm at your convenience until you're at (or above) the desired speed you want

  • Practice them slower, and then work up your speed?

  • I have some spider drills posted over at StevieSnacks in the practice center that were a huge help for me to develop the dexterity and speed necessary to play faster licks.

  • Oh and great singing btw!

  • cool man i did this song too =D allthough i didnt sing lol... so i guess you could say that i soloed over a blues backing. But the Sky is cryn was there in my heart.

  • Singing or not, it's a great song to play :-)

  • WOW!

  • good god man you can sing too?

  • Great, love it! Keep posting.

Just came up this question to my mind..

If Stevie is such a big influence, is there any reason why you don't have the SRV signature guitar? The Don Grosh and Kenny strat or Stauffers guitars are ofcourse good guitars,

but since you are playing Stevie's style for so many years, have you ever thought to buy the SRV signature strat?

Anyway keep up the good work, and thank you for your time

    Greetings from Peter

  • I never really had the chance to play one, and could never afford it, and then when I could afford it I found my Don Grosh guitar used for about the same price as a new SRV strat.

  • Awesome, dude. Keep playin'!!!!

  • Hey, maybe you should put up some lessons on singing too. A lot of people who can play blues guitar can't sing blues to save their lives, but you're quite good!

  • Wow, I wasn't expecting singing. That was nice, one of the few cover videos I've watched all the way through. Great tone, great playing, great work.

  • Dam...Nice...and Thanks for the Awsome Lessons too!

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!!! I have nothing else to say.

  • you tones a lil weak. did you have the volume a lil lower than before or a different EQ or what?

  • Could be the delay instead of reverb on the mix. I disagree about it being weaker, actually my favorite recorded tone so far.

  • Bravo Anthony, impressive SRV tone!

  • I feel bad for all the people out there who have never heard this guy sing and play guitar.

  • I'm sure they'll be OK :-)

  • Awesome Man!

  • Whoa, you have that voice? Holy shit.

  • It was interesting, got a bit boring in the middle because of same lick, and in the end it got better :)

Good playing! Keep up the work

  • maybe you just have a short attention span?

  • I agree. It kinda got a little like Ive heard this before for second, but then he started "diversifying" and it sounded sick. Overall, it was very good though.

  • Beautiful brother, you hit a homerun on this one.!!

  • great playing! sorry bout my ignorance but your singing is great too!!

    questions:

    1. How did u set your EQ on the amp and on your GE-7?

    2. do you play in a band?

    thanks.

  • Got all the details and settings posted now over at the site in the "Gear Videos" section.

  • Cool intro, man you're great

  • nice

  • Amazing as always. Great tone and playing!

  • wow.... nice one as usual :)

  • Simply awesome.

  • Thank you
