  • overall it isn't horrible. My a cappella group opened for Rockapella before and the only criticism I'd give is that it'd be better if your tenor's falsetto was stronger.

  • I liked parts of it I think its only because I saw the guys who sing that in concert lol I think you guys could have been way more stronger

  • I just found the video, but I remember you guys! I'm in the VM, too, and I really enjoyed this. Are you still singing together?

  • tenor..... no....

  • Dude, its pretty hard to do this in front of profesionals and having not heard the correct note in a long time. So I'm sorry that this wasnt my best performance.

  • that comment is to jcjcjjcc

  • With voices like that, how do you guys not get the ladies?

  • This is the Internet, so I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.............

And how did you know we don't get ladies? =[

    Haha.

  • I was actually being serious. Haha And I just guessed to lol.

But seriously, you guys should have babes all over you xD

Was it parents in the majority of that audience in the vid?

  • Dude, no!

That was Vocal Majority, a professional a capella men's choir based in Dallas, TX. They're incredibly amazing, winning competitions all over America.

Look 'em up if you're interested in that kind of stuff.

  • you guys need a wayyy better arrangement!! the only way you can become better if you have the skills to arrange your own music...from experience. Start by changing key. So you can bring the tenor down cos that guy wasnt good. and besides Scott Lenard is a freak so dont try to be like them. And Fit the bass and bari in so theyr comfortable too.

  • We didn't have an arrangement. We sang what we heard, which is why it was so rough.

I was the bass, and I'm very comfortable with those notes. When we sang this, we hadn't checked the key in several minutes, so it took us a second to adjust to each other.

  • And the tenor is a good tenor. We were singing for the VOCAL MAJORITY. An award-winning choir that performs all over the country. We were high school sophomores with little personal performance experience outside of purely school activities. We were ALL nervous.

I appreciate the suggestions though. Thank you. =]

  • Vocal Majority is an AMAZING chorus!!

How come you guys call yourselves bass, bari, tenor 2 and 1? In barbershop the tenor 2 would be called lead and tenor 1 is simply tenor. Just wondering.

I couldn't really distinct four parts that well, maybe it was the room or something.

    Good job though!

  • Thanks for the input.

I don't know about you, but I don't necessarily define Rockapella's music as necessarily "barbershop", merely a capella pop music. Barbershop music does not have vocal percussion.

Anyway, about the four parts thing, I think that there were only three parts: two people doubled up. I was on bass, one was on tenor 2, and two were on tenor 1.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Hello. I am actually a tenor myself and I know how you feel with the falsetto being there some days and some days not. Just think very light and fluffy when you get to it. Don't be afraid at all to let some notes rip to! Do you guys have a local barbershop choir that you are a part of?

  • Haha, we wish. Nah, we're part of just a regular high school choir, but we've performed a couple of a capella songs for talent shows/choir concerts.

  • I am a barbershop tenor myself, and I would like to give a few tips. Open your throat and relax your tone it seems like you are almost squeaking it out. Open the throat and cover up your sound, you can do that my covering your teeth when you sing.

  • Thank you for your tip. Our tenor appreciates it.

  • For high school singers you guys are pretty good. I wasn't sure what to think in the beginning because it seemed "forced" (enthusiasm), but then you guys seemed to get into it and it really picked up. Good job

  • Thank you for your honest opinion.

Yeah, the beginning was rough in generel, in terms of both singing and enthusiasm, but I agree, we picked it up after a bit.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Man, i was there and it was very good. im a VM member and i was sitting there on the front row wishing i was in a quartet, lol Keep it up yall!!! :)

  • Thank you very much for your kind words. We hope to come back some time, hopefully soon, in order to sing a different song for you.

  • No offense, but what's with the bad falsettos? If you aren't a tenor, don't try to be one....

  • I respect your honesty, but he is a GREAT tenor. He's the best tenor we have. Nobody else has complained about his falsetto, including the professional choir we sang this for, the Vocal Majority, the premier pops chorus in America.

Again, thanks for your honesty, but I don't agree.

  • I am the tenor you are talking about and I know that this isn't my best performance and my falsetto is struggling, but it is not that bad. This song is pretty high, so my falsetto was the only thing i could do. Maybe I could try lowering my part to sound more solid. Anyways, I respect your opinion, so thank you.

  • good stuff, man! def. for such a young group. keep tuning in to the music and it'll only get better. where are you guys out of? (hit me on the channel)

  • i think u guys did a great job id like to hear it a tad bit faster. dont be afriadd to dance to this song, it has that effect you know. if u show the audience that u are feeling your own song, i promise you they will fall in!!! keep on singing

    -raph

  • Thanks for the tip, we really appreciate it. But you can understand, we were quite nervous. Ha.

  • You guys were excellent. You didn't happen to notice the standing ovation, did you? Keep up the excellent work, fellows -- don't ever give up on music.

Come back and visit (and sing with us) any time you'd like.

  • Thank you very much. =D

  • We'd appreciate everyone's honest opinions, please, but please refrain from extensive cursing and from being an overall jerk. We really want "advice" from everyone.
