Female rabbits are ready to mate @ 4 to 6 months n will become good mothers… Rabbits can have 5 to 12 babies, but to have a big litter its best to mate the doe with 2 males…Does will become pregnant @ first mating… Add nest box on 28th day babies are born on 30th day…
A day or two or on the same day of birth, the mother will make a nest… my doe nest on the day of birth…
my rabbit just gave birth a few hours ago she is very young and did not make any nest or what...so i made a nest and stuff but she doesnt seem to be caring for them.
also the person who gave me my rabbits said that were both males..im not sure what else to do
thanks yes she was our first rabbit and the best. sadly she passed away last year and we have not had a rabbit like her since, sure she thought she was a dog :)
I take it you rescued this bunny from some trailer trash rabbit breeder? They are the scum of the earth; breeding rabbits as if they were propagating flowers. Sick bastards aren't they?
Never buy from a breeder. Always adopt from a shelter and make sure you have your pets spayed or neutered to prevent breeding and creating more unwanted, abandoned and abused animals.
Most interesting; an immaculate conception I assume. Responsible pet owners prevent their charges from getting pregnant and contributing to the overwhelming numbers of abused and neglected animals. I'm glad these babies got homes, hopefully not in squalid little coffin cages at the back of the yard.
haha no not an immaculate conception we have a male lop ear aswell, she was getting old and we thought it would be nice for her to experience motherhood before she went to the big carrot patch in the sky. no all her babies are in nice homes :)
i found an abansoned rabbit who is female outside of my house two weeks ago. and she has made a nest in the back of her hutch and lined it with fur. she has been eating a lot and is quite grouchy. she doesnt want me to touch her and wen i am she is making a grumbling noise. she is especially protective or her belly. Do you think she could be pregnant?
yes I would say so!!! wow is it a wild rabbit or a pet thats escaped? just make sure she is warm and has plenty if fresh water and food. its amazing to see a baby rabbit, nothing like you would expect! good luck x
Thanks. Its a domesticated rabit and it was quite neglected wen i found it. The back nails were all curled up and really long and she was a little underweight. Three days ago she built a nest, then the next night she lined it with fur and then the night after that she lined it with more fur. How long after doing this do they usually give birth?
shouldnt be long holly-polly was making her nest a week before she went into labour.but some apparently wait a lot longer and only do it 3 days before!
you may have them already?! let me know and get a vid on :)
nah. i think it was just a phantom pregnancy, she is comppletely back to normal now and she started making the nest over a week ago, but she isnt interested anymore. Yes i did cut her nails lol and checked her teeth which looked fine. im dissapointed she didnt have babies tho :(
hi chipmunks.I actually handled them at only a few minutes old. she hopped out of the cage and I gave her some water and let her chill out while I stroked her and picked the babies up in front of her.I kept them together I think you have to because otherwise they get cold as they have no fur when they are newborn :) good luck with yours!let me know how it goes and if you are lucky enough to catch it on vid let me see! xx
Aw...She was a lovley thing... My rabbit is expecting and i was just wondering iof after the babies were born did you handle them and did you put the mum in a different cage then the babies and back when the were going 2 fed. Thanks=D
the mother rabbit is pupping and scruging ew!

The babies are born nearly hairless n with their eyes closed…
By the 4th day, they will have fur n by the 11th day their eyes will be open…
Mother rabbits have such rich milk that they only need to feed once a day, mostly at night…
In about 2wks, they will be eating solid feed…
At 6 wks, (month 1/2) the babies will be ready to leave mother…
