Recently, and only for the first time, I saw something in a 1971 episode that reminded me a lot of the "30 dots", only this one involved checkered squares. A click of the wood block signaled the appearance of the first square in the center, followed by a steady snare beat (much like the one here) as black & white squares rapidly fill the screen, then disappear just as quickly, and one more click of the block takes the last remaining square. I'm willing to bet that was made by the same animators.
I agree with you completely - even the drum beat feels militaristic. In 1st grade, we watched Sesame Street every week and these dot segments are seared in my memory. I remember asking the teacher "What happened to the red one?" and she scolded me for talking during the show. Incidentally, we always had to sit cross-legged in rows... like the dots.
well said..i loved this segment for the timing and the animation..but it never occured to me that Sesame Street would be instilling conformity with this...i wonder how many people realize it?
This one used to make me laugh. I always thought the other dots would get mad at the red dot. Don't why this was so funny to me but it was. I loved all the dot segments. I was mesmorized by them.
I believe the one from Noggin is a partial one, the one Im talking about is when they meet in the middle have a big argument, then cooperate causing hundreds of cirles and squares fly all over the screen to fanfare music. Its the ultimate finale of the dot segments. I've been searching for that for years.
I will pay someone who comes up with the circles being driven off by squares segment - the one with the huge crescendo / fanfare. Let me know if anyone has that segment.
@onacom6 I remember that one. Wish I could see that one, too.

it starts with young age - we are being educated not to accept someone who is diffrent than us and fight him

the 9 who disliked this video is being traumatized by their ruined childhood in the daycare basement therefore it brings back awful memories

Who knew there could be so much meaning in what presented itself as a simple cartoon? About little yellow dots no less.

Maybe I'm digging to deep into this but isn't this a rather bad message, implying that it's not okay for one dot being red instead of yellow?

But doesn't your friend have the technology to get rid of the Noggin logo?
wattamack4 4 years ago
One of my friends does, but his work is tying him up at the moment. Hope he'll get more free time soon!
