I'm sure you can do bar chords, it just takes a lot of practice and strength in your fingers to do it: here's how you do it, everyday practice doing a bar chord, try pinching the strings down as hard as you can and strum it once, try to get it to sound clean once, then try to hold the chord for 5 seconds and strum it a couple times and get it to sound nice. Then increase the time, etc.

If you're still having trouble there's a little trick I learned from Esteban's book. You kan use a rubber ball and just keep squeezing it with your barring finger... Hope that helps...
