In general, how much exersize do Borzois need?

@RockAndRollRockOn Depends on how old the dog is and what type of food you're feeding it. Borzoi can live a very long time on Gentle Giants Canine Cuisine. However, if you're feeding your dog some other food and it's older than two then you can walk it a few blocks a day and it's happy. Younger than two and you want to take them out to play for at least an hour of running and playing.

I have two borzois, one mostly white and brown, the other black and white which looks almost exactly like the one at 2:19. THEY WARE THE BEST DOGS EVER.

Clicker training (which uses positive reinforcement) is the most effective method for training Borzoi. Mine is well trained (even off leash) and can be seen here on YouTube playing the piano! . We didn't even get her until she was over 2 years old. Clicker training works, and she loves it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, therefore, IMHO, the Borzoi is beautiful, no doubt. I have my first one now for about a month. White and cream in color. I can attest that she is her own dog. Somewhat stubborn. Doesn't change a thing. I love this dog as much as I do my Greyhound. Big yards are helpful. I walk mine as often as I can. That usually means 5 times a week and for her long walks aren't necessary since she's 6. After 2 blocks she's lagging behind.

All jokes aside these dogs are gorgeous and beyond loyal, they're very affectionate.

They are gorgeous dogs but unfortunately they are not the most affectionate breed. If their beauty was coupled with a loving personality, like that of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, I'd want one, but their independent, aloof nature ruins it for me.

I have owned 2 and loved them. Great pets but I would say for the more advanced dog lover. We used to let them chase rabbits at the farm in Seguin, TX. Don't worry, the rabbits won, running into some brush.

I know Borzoi's are considered "ugly," but we had an great Borzoi for many years. He was truly hilarious. He also had nice markings and was pretty really cute....looked like a lil horse at first. :) He was kinda 'dumb,' but super friendly, sweet and funny...wonderful personality. They are tall, skinny, and lightening fast. Mine was also really sweet. People were often apprehensive, but he was the sweetest thing. Really, just funny, friendly and sweet. Can't say enough good things about him

@Freakontheway Your opinion and your opinion only. Depends on the markings/dog, but, no, they are not widely considered "beautiful" if you're walking the streets today. They are big and "interesting," they are head turners, but they are not considered 'beautiful' by many. Doesn't matter though, I loved mine and I hope you enjoy yours while you have it. They are great dogs and losing one is a terrible experience.

@channelswimmer It's not my opinion only, of course not, otherwise I wouldn't state it this way. As I said, lots of compliments in history and such. We are walking lots of streets and be a lot in nature and see lots of people, and most of them even stop and tell us what a beautiful dog we have. Same goes for the breeder of our Borzoi and other Dutch Borzoi friends. So that is a lot of people that consider Borzoi beautiful... no one ever said to us that they are just 'interesting'.

You think they will tell you your dog is ugly to your face? Get a grip. Of course the comments are positive. Then you talk about breeders?! i love Borzios!!! i have a 1 yr old red+white female Borzoi. she is 34 inches tall and wieghs 105 lbs. her fav thing to do is play with her pups. she have birth to 7 pups 4 weeks ago. they r all so beautiful!!! 2 females, 5 males. the names: dame-Pepper, sir-Jalepeno, female1-Shadow, 2-Charolette, male1-Sticks, 2-Ghost, 3-Guide, 4-Dolittle, 5-Pooh. They are all already reserved for adoption!!!

Most countries in the world have rules or advice about this. Just because they will be too immature and to worn out in time. Dogs are mature when about 2 years old, they are just earlier in body development, just like humans.

We had one, very elegant - but they get off lead, don't try to catch them they will always win! Aurora, our beautiful bitch, could jump in the air and do a 180 when my husband got to close to catching her. They sprint, so let them wear themselves down! She was also very smart! A neighbor could only fool her once before we had to find another participant to con her into her leash! I miss her so much, she died and we never bought another.

i understand what your saying but they are different. Borzois are from Russian descent, they are aristocrats of the dog world, i myself have had borzois before. indeed they are sort of stubborn they are the best kind of animal protection ever; think of this, would you rather have a dog that will listen, not saying anything bad but like a small listining chihuahua or a big masculan Russian wolf hound another name for the borzoi that listens only a little less than the chihuahua defend you?

They are a lot bigger than Greyhounds though, and more streamlined. Greyhounds are still a bit podgey out the sides.

I love Sighthounds. < 3 Borzoi are my favourite.

i have bought books and done my research, i just think that if you are going to offer information, then it would be good if you actually offered SOME information, this is the least informative series i have ever come across, and there was absolutely no point in it being made, and also it angers me that this talks about breed standards, the 'mass public' should learn a bit about dogs instead of going on what the AKC say, kennel clubs have fucked some breeds forever. these are terrible videos.

@shichan "The bare minimum". This series is like Dogs 101 with a brain. My sister got her Pomeranian thanks to weeks of begging and pleading to my dad and watching D101. No further internet or book research. Just the two hazards combined. ...My dad gave in, and I was pissed. This just shows people what NOT to do when picking a breed for one's lifestyle and preference. Now my dad's house has two yippy, hyperactive and high- maintinence babies to take care of.
