That Toyota stock probably sold for $16,995 dollars new. That Kia sold for $14995 new. Throw on $300 in tires and it did everything that Toyota did. I guess that's why Sportages not only ran but won the Paris-Dakkar rally more than once, against V-6 and V-8's, and did so with a 4cyl and 4 speed auto tranny.

Yes, they are from KIA.
But they use Mazda engines, wich are famous for their reliability.
And the sportages in europe are assembled in Germany by Karman.
I also believe they use some Ford parts too, but not sure.
Do your homework before trashing this car, it actually is a great car.
