Commander Keen 7 (Keys of Krodacia) and Commander Keen 8 (Dead in the Desert) are already finished and have been available for free download for over a year, while Commander Keen 9 (Battle of the Brains) is set to be released later this year.

DOSBox is the best emulator for DOS. It is freeware, so you can download it for free on the internet. You have to mount c by yourself, example mount c c:\dosgames .After that your dosgames-folder is the c of the dosbox. It works great!

I remember playing Commander Keen 4 and when me and my friends first saw the Dopefish. We didn't know any enemies had names so we named him King Fatso since he was so big and it sounded funny to us at the time

There is a bug in Keen 4. When you save a game after you obtain a key and later restore it, the key's lost and there is nothing you can do, but to die and restart the level.

About the lives and points: I realized that as well and so when I played Commander Keen 4 I imposed on myself to save only on th map, not during a level (like the first trilogy only allows saving on the map). It ups the challenge and lives have more of a purpose again.

I actually played through the game on Hard difficulty using this "restriction", and it was very fun. Okay, I must admit, at one point I did break my rule, however this was in the secret/hidden level.

Good review..tho i must say that playing Keen on a controller instead of a keyboard is an outrage...but thats just me, oh and please dont pick on the save system, to be saying that free saving is bad and should be done with fixed checkpoints is just plain wrong...lives arent important? right...play the game on max difficulty and have only like 8 slots to save on...pff honestly get your facts straigt. 3/5

Keen will swim a lot faster if you repeatedly tap jump while moving. Makes it a lot easier getting away from those swim swim hungry things.

I suggest that you look into "Space Harrier" -- this is an arcade game that got remade over and over on consoles and PCs. The arcade game was immersive too, as you'd sit in a moving booth to play the game. :)
