The neighborhood I grew up in in Detroit "Old Redford" had a presbyterian church that rang evey hour like that. It was how we knew when it was time to go home eat/go to bed etc.
At some point the church is moving to Harter Road I am sure we wont be hearing them any more. First we lose the train horns then the library then the church bells.

I am so glad that you have preserved this.
It is one of the things that I will miss when the library moves down Snow Street to Municipal Drive.
