  • first of all it's a shit bike no one cares, second people would assume you just lost your key and own the bike it's hard to prove otherwise.

  • Hector.."tamer of horses, Prince of Troy"...a godsend..

  • you can never tell if its a thief or a guy who lost a key! of course by looking at his back pack you could tell though. you can easily spot thief tools

  • wow, i'm never leaving my bike on the street again....ever!!!

  • Don't forget all the surveillance cameras...

If we want you,we will find you.

  • I will call the police on any grocery store or building that attempts to prevent me from taking my bike inside. i NEVER leave my bike outside. the NYPD is absolutely USELESS, and so are pedestrians. the law is NOT on your side. only yourself and fellow bikers. cyclists, look out for bike thieves, for your bike and fellow cyclists bikes. its time for REGISTERED INDOORS BIKE PARKING. get this idea to the city. must have an authorized "parking card" that you show to security, just like indoors car.

  • hahaha if only he found hector the bike thief guru earlier..

  • now i know were to get free electricity

    nice one lol

  • God bless Hector.

  • just goes to show that if you do anything with confidence people wont question you

  • @rizzuh Exactly. I once had to sit outside in the street sawing off a brand new lock which took 40 minute to cut through. LOOOL a Police man and tons of people walked past and not a fucking word.

  • how many bikes could you collect on a trailer or something in one outing?

  • @M1sterF1sh You could collect at least umm 60 - 80 bikes if you know locations where peopel lock up bikes... where they get on trains and so on. It takes 5 minutes to get through a lock, unless it's armored e.t.c

  • The police are more likely to arrest you for filming than they are for stealing a bike.

  • if you leave your bike anywhere, at least take the seat with you!

  • Comment removed

  • If anybody did start asking questions all you would have to say is,"I lost the key to the lock". They have no idea who owns the bike.

  • Not really surprising no one has any interest in getting involved with someone with a saw.

  • I wouldnt wanna talk to a thief holding a angle-grinder

  • Neistat stole my bike.

  • Nobody gives a sh*t coz its just a F*cking bike.

  • It's still a vary ambiguous situation. I wouldn't bother saying anything either. All I could say is hey is that your bike? And he'd just answer yes.

  • don't know about anybody else but if i saw a big bald guy with a weapon trying to cut through a chain hasetly i wouldn't inturrept him

  • No one goes out of their way to steal a bike like that. People just assume it's his bike and he lost the key, or forgot the combo. Simple explanation.

  • From the way you were dressed, with a sock over your pants leg, it looked to me as if you had lost your key and just trying to unlock your own bike.

  • @VagueFillms

bike thieves dress casually. they're not bank robbers.

  • how do you acess electricity from a lampost like that?

  • Comment removed

  • Well, if you report a crime you jeopardize your life and get nothing. I have stood up to gangsters, stood between a meter maid and thugs, stood up to still more gangsters, stood up to corporate criminals. What did I get?

No support from anyone. Not even the police.

I did get threatened, slandered, and reviled, repeatedly. Some cowards did bother to offer half thank yous or near apologies but it was mainly expressing relief that for "some reason" the thugs left or stopped the undesired behavior.

  • @momentinpassing - a famous quote; "evil prevails when good men do nothing."

You don't need the appreciation or support of people in this cynical world - though it would be nice it's true. You did the right thing - at least you know what that is. Most often, you can intervene in a non-confrontational manner - politely and non agressively both verbally and physically. Don't give in to the apathy!

  • @momentinpassing I'm not sure what you said is true, but if you've done those things that you've said you did, thank you. Acts like that restore my faith in humanity. Please don't stop. I won't.

  • This video is so awesome, I'm so glad you made it.

  • useless police 1:24

  • I know a solution for this to stop, USA needs to get this technology -> /watch?v=vK9C9VtCypE

  • I'm sure everyone assumed he lost his key, plus the camera?!?

  • @suicidebypolice Or maybe everyone is just a moron who isn't willing to do anything about a suspicious guy walking up and stealing somebody's bike.

  • you people are racist. this means its easier to steal if you are white.. cause if your a white fool, you can fool a million white along with you.. freaking dumb asses.

  • this is a subminamil message: eat chicken nuggets

  • It seems the cameraman is in plain sight of everyone walking by. If I saw someone stealing a bike while being filmed, I don't think I'd be as alarmed as if it were just someone by themselves. I'd guess it was for some kind of low budget movie or youtube video.

  • if he was a black guy i would have called the police right away to have him arrested and put him in a cage where he belongs

  • What's worse a bike thief or a shop lifter?

  • No care of your bikes

  • Doesn't the presence of a camera trump this whole experiment?

  • Ill just ride away and no one gives a shit XD

  • Unbelievable.

  • you should have done it this way chain the bike up the second the guy walks away another guy shows up and steals the bike or when the bike messenger was there you should have said wtf are you doing with my bike

  • lmfao... Omg the angle grinder part was truley hilarious... in a sad way.. gj guys.

  • the problem is... he looks like he owns the bike. with his bicycle messenger bag and all...

  • this is america, fucking selfish motherfuckers who only care about their shitheads

  • lol fuckin american only care about yourself

  • My bike was stolen from outside my work this weekend. I work at a hospital and several patients were nearby. They are all very sick people, but confronted the thief immediately and called 911. It didn't do any good as he was long gone by the time anyone responded, but those sick folks trying to do the right thing made a small silver lining to the situation.

  • looks the same like amsterdam ;)

  • wow... for 6 decades and this is what happened to humanity?!! o.o no wonder the so called "Elite" are just doing things infront of the masses. Its infront of us wow..

  • Thanks, this proves what I've known for 6 decades--humanity sucks. "I don't want to get involved!" "NOT my problem!" "I ain't stickin' my neck out for nobody!" I could go on and on but that would just be redundant. That's why heroes are worshipped. They are rare jewels in a mountain of crap. I'm not any better, of course. I'm just stating a fact about human nature. With all the cell phones with cameras you'd think somebody would take a pic and call 911. Fat chance unless it envolved a child!

  • I beg, steal anything u want, just don't steal my beloved road bike

  • Well this is sort of dumb to post this video, as this would help thieves themselves to steal bikes. Nice job neistabrothers... Smart one.

  • @MtbDjRidaSacHaz69 Chances are if they're stealing bikes, they already know all of this.

  • @TourmalineSurfer Thieves do not need the youtube videos, you goof. These are well-known methods and if you ask a career thief for tips, they are usually proud to tell you.

  • oooohhh what a suprise..."hector" is black ;)

  • @dpapaioannow Hector looked latino to me.

  • Yeah Hector!!

  • Try this whole experiment again but with a black guy. I'm sure the results will be quite interesting.

  • After years of loosing parts of your bike, you should have tried spending your time to put some bait and get the bike thieves, not trying to be like one of them.

  • try a blow torch next time...i look forward to the video :)

  • Hector is awesome.

  • if i saw a guy going through all that, i would've thought he lost his key to the lock...

  • Ermmm... try someone's bike next time. ::))

  • Vote up if you think Hector is the best !!!

  • i dont think anyone is doing anything because theres someone filming you...

  • @PhuriixHD I was thinking the same thing. :)

  • this is horrible. I would have straight up called the guy out and pushed him away

  • so thats how they do it

  • watch?v=U-zJQzi7dMg&feature=topvideos_news part two

  • does anyone see the cop car behind the dude?

  • @WizRix 2 cars you mean :-)

  • @saariko no there's 1 Cop Car so there for it's not Cars. Thank You have a Nice Day.

  • There was a police car behind the guy....... so I guess they don't even care

  • Now... if it was a black guy...

  • @ceilingcatdisciple Search for "What Would You Do? Bike Theft (White Guy, Black Guy, Pretty Girl)" 1 of them gets ignored, 1 of them gets swarmed and 1 of them gets help but im not going to tell who gets what reaction ^^

  • The lady smoking that cig should have been arrested for standing right there and not doing anything. Fat lazy lard.

  • Пидарасы

  • You got to do what you got to do.

  • If he was black everyone would be beating him up by now

  • @maurigian1 lol,.. sad truth

  • The fourth and third tests do not count. It seems like you're trying to free your own bike, because of the protection gear. Thiefs with protection gears are not usual, at least in the masses view of a thief.

The second test i don't know, it can be interpreted as a theft... The first one was brilliantly performed, as a bike stealer would do.

  • We did get one concerned citizen.. Yes it was a lecture, HE SUGGESTED MOLEGRIPS rofl!

  • I think that the best place to commit crimes is within a major city because nobody is paying attention! Think about it, most crimes happen in big cities.

  • Here in London the thieves are riding through the streets on stolen bikes - whilst wheeling another stolen bike alongside them ... two guys with 4! The police have been told NOT to do anything about bike thefts - its up to the owners to secure their bikes.

  • its because hes white Dur!!! haven't u seen "don't be a mence?" haha

  • I goto NYC a lot and if that was me I wouldn't say a thing either....It's NYC, its completely expected and not my shit to give a damn about

  • in the third one i look sort of like you work for the city

  • Coca Cola's truck in 1:43 :D

  • hector you legend

  • anyone see the patrol car in the background at 1:24? lmao.

  • kitty genovese

  • people tought that bike is yours, but you only forgot or lost the key

  • fack you.fack your mather.i see of this man

  • People don't care anywhere anymore. Not just NY. I've had someone try to break in my house at high noon with the neighbors on each side watching. Someone attacked my mother and tried to rape her. One neighbour laughed and told her a few days later that he heard her screaming but that seeing as it wasn't HIS problem he went back to sleep.

  • @QueenNyx Damn dude that's really fucked up. It's a shame your neighbors weren't even nice enough to call the cops.

  • @cvs333 No. She woke me up by banging on my bedroom window and I think I called the cops. I honestly just remember being angry at the time and trying to help her. It was sheer luck they caught the guy a year later because the cops didn't want to write it as a sexual assault even though he ripped her pants clean. Thank God the EMTs change it. In the end it just taught me that no one cares about anyone or anything really.

  • @QueenNyx bullshit!!

  • @MikeAlikeful What? BS that no one cares because I have seen little that shows otherwise.

  • try it with a non-white guy.

  • @NusianceValue You're right, an Asian girl would be able to take every bike there without anyone bating an eye.

  • @NusianceValue LMAO

  • @NusianceValue

shut the hell up with the race card.

  • its sad...

  • MON VÉLO, QUI A ÉTÉ VOLÉ, ÉTAIT EN VENTE à Vélo Urbain: 4339, av Papineau, Montréal!!! J'ai du payer 175$ pour la récupérer!!!

  • If I were to intervene when some guy has a hacksaw or an angle saw, I would want at least a machete in case he turned on me

  • A WHITE GUY!?!?!

  • Hector=master criminal:)

  • As people have said below, the citizens of NYC 1) do not want to waste their own time, why can't one of the many others? It doesn't matter if I don't intervene, someone else, braver, is bound to (and they hope for this)

    2) people also assume that it's his bike, after all who would have the temerity to steal a bike in broadlight with so many people around?...it MUST be his own bike and I don't want to offend him. If he says 'it's mine' what next?

    It's classic social psychology/engineering

  • JUST ONE MORE REASON I HATE AND DON'T LIVE IN NY

  • I bet most people just assume you own the bike and have lost the key. Because they think theives would not be so open about stealing.

  • @get953

    100% This!

  • @get953 maybe by the end, since it got so ridiculous. but in the beginning it could pass as a real stealing.

  • okay, to be honest i probably wouldn't have approached you when you have a hacksaw or hammer but i would call the cops definately

  • Also, i lol'd at the cops who drove by and then cited your camera guy for being in an "Active" lane.

  • The problem with bikes is....how do you prove its not yours? like, bike stealers could just say its their bike to anyone who walked up to them. They really need some sort of system or something. Maybe a fingerprint lock or something.

  • @kittycat101010 Pretty easy to take photos and email them to local cop station.

  • @kittycat101010 People always get around the something some way or another.

  • I wonder what would happen if he fake raped a lady. that's probably a more interesting question.

  • o cara e foda

  • if he was black ,people would giv a shit im sure lool

  • if it was here in denmark it had be something else.

  • @vatozl0c0z Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

  • I bet you if it were a black guy, it would have been different...

  • Let's all just stand around and do nothing!!!. Gotta love New York huh?

  • What is song name from 0:12 - 0:42 ? :)

  • well i think it all because, you had it all look like just a simple thing, and real confident knowing that if you get caught then it is just a stage act! therefor people see it through you guys and they don't have the time to budge into ya business! well it was good, but not realistic!

  • After my bike was stolen in Philly a few years ago, I looked out one night to see a dude next to a locked bike, holding something that looked like a long tool, then lifting the bike towards the trunk of his car. I grabbed a baseball bat and went out to confront him. It was his bike. He asked me to kindly stop swinging the bat. What the hell was I supposed to do, start beating him? It's not a crime to cut a bike lock and take the bike. You kind of have to if you lose your keys.

  • you know round here there are bikes left all over locked up so the city hires people to remove them and the worker gets to do whatever with the bikes.

  • Near the beginning of the video, around 1:08 or so, was that a stranger saying 'Yep, that's...that's his bike'? (the female)

  • Comment removed

  • lol the guy that helped you steal the bike

  • Important pt. UR missing is its NOT illegal to use cutters, a saw, &c (AFAIK), to defeat a chain, lock, &c securing a bike. Unless U live somewhere that they REQUIRE bikes be registered with S/N, & positively ID U as your bike's owner, there would be NO pt unless someone complained, (like HEY, THAT GUY'S STEALING *MY* BIKE!) for EVEN A COP to stop someone doing what this guy did, to ask him, "Is that your bike?" b/c NOBODY caries proof of ownership with him. That could be anyone's bike. See?

  • of course nobody gives a shit it's not their bike - people have witnessed murders in new york and not done anything

  • @regorenryb22 That's typical to anywhere that there is a big population. Not because no one cares. But because people assume someone else will help and are too afraid to step in themselves. I don't know that I would step in if I saw a guy with a gun chasing somebody down. I can't say that I'd be that brave.

  • @regorenryb22 kitty genovese

  • Music:

The Fall - Dr. Bucks' Letter

  • ahahaahahaahahaahahaahahaahahaahahaahahaahahaahaha

  • to you guys that are saying police officers are looking for bombs and not bikes, well, to some bikes is their mode of transportation and it would be like your car being stolen. I am sure you would want police to do something. When was this video made? can you redo a new one with the same methods, but this time do 2 vids at the same time, one with the white guy and another with another ethnicity guy...wonder if there would be a reaction....

  • @readthelabels NO..same thing would happen either....noone cares,

  • This is awful, but hilarious! Angle grinder is awesome!

  • dude , sell me the first bike

  • Bahahaaha dude lol

  • looooooooooool.!! that was awsome.!

  • dude the cops are looking for bombs

    not bikethieves

  • @starflyr1 right so all regular crime is ignored by on the beat cops because of a terror threat? They have dedicated departments to that sort of thing...

  • dude, the cops in NYC are looking for bombs

    not you freaks

  • dude the cops in nyc are looking for bombs

    not you freaks

  • Hector is the best, dude knows the job. He was probably police officer in Russia.

  • nobodys saying anything cuz they dont wanna get chopped up by a skinhead looking guy with a saw haha.

  • F U! I beat the hell out whoever doing my bike.. you'll see!

  • @Jerduh74

    U dont do shit......

  • i liked how hector helped him

  • if you have access to a sophisticated machine shop like those found on campus for material testing you can use just a 3/4" thick steel chain and heat treat it to nearly indestructible steel then bind a crazy alloy to the surface, should end up with nearly indestructible chain (need bomb proof lock to lock ends) or you can just rig your bike with carefully placed razer blades in hand grips and seat (done that with a bike once and car door handles), u need to spare grips and sheath the seat razors

  • bahahaha, hector seems a bit counterituitive.... a messinger helping a bike theif and all...

  • This is so frustrating to watch. Absolutely disgusting.

  • The fact that you make seem so obvious makes it seem like its your own bike, people will think you just lost your lock key.

  • LOL LOL LOL HEcotoooor xD..I can't belivin'...cccc

  • Bold as Brass! Bastard!

  • i steal near 15 bikes a day. It is very nice job

  • @darkbluenote and?

  • Even if you said something, if the thief says "Its my bike, I just lost the key" what right do you have to question that?

  • Like people give a shit about other people's bikes.

  • i never had mi bike stolen....oh yeah i never had a bike...oh yeah i never had a childhood :`(....seriously... :S

  • WTF

  • the police steal bikes to greater increase the drama in new york

  • Y yo preocupado por si me la roban del garaje de la comunidad. Pedalea mientras puedas...

  • wtf man!!!! dun be given thiefs more ideas cool vid tho aha

  • I would use a bomb!
