i have a 32bit vista cd maybe when i get a macbook ill get a 62bit to play games on it o.O, i have a gateway laptop right now runnin xp and vista 32bit is awful on it lol
it depends on if you can support 64 bit or not... because the problem is that 32 bit is VERY UNSTABLE regardless.. 64 Bit is VERY stable and 95% of complaints come from 32 Bit Vista.
so that's why people are saying it sucks... 64 bit (which i am running) is amazing. havent had a single freeze up yet!
Ya I think they only sell the 64 bit versions of Vista now anyways. Sometimes cross platform OS just have too many glitches. I'm gonna give it a try. Thanks for the response.
Wow, I've never seen so many ignorant comments before! So what if someone wants to install Windows on a Mac. Infact, Apple even advertises the Mac Computer as: "the only computer you'll ever need" because some people actually like Windows and Mac computers at the same time... and most importantly: these people SHOULD NOT be bothered with NEGATIVE, FANBOY COMMENTS!
only an idiot would choose not to have more choice. I also run a MBP and am currently hunting down my vista cd....which i can only assume has slipped through the cracks of this dimentional plane onto the next. Then i am going to run both osx and vista because they are both incredibly good operating systems
Well, I just got Home Premium version of Vista and installed it on my 17" Macbook Pro 2.4 Ghz laptop. Vista doesn't recognize my graphics card or my wireless internet. ANy tips to get this thing to work would be greatly appreciated!
nope, the macbook pro has a wauyyyyyy better graphics card... im not callin u a "tard" cuz thats just nerdy and gay. lemme guess, you dont get much pussy, am i wrong?
not any dell xps i have ever configured when i was bored had more video ram or w/e than a macbook pro. maybe a desktop, but then again the mac pro has up to 1.5 gb video ram
Not even desktop graphics cards have that much vram. I think what is happening is that the RAM is being shared, which is what is done. Customising a dell XPS laptop now I'm getting Intel Core2 Extreme Processor 2.8GHz, 4 gig of ram, 500 gig hdd or 64 gig SS hdd, 2x8800M GTX SLI.... don't think you can get a mac book like that
yes, the mac pro desktop has that much vram. and you're wrong, a macbook pro does come with 2.8 ghz and 4 gigs of ram. the 500 gb hard drive is not an option as of now, but you could easily buy an aftermmarket one. also, the mac has 128 gb sshd.
NO!! I had one jsut like that and had to send it back to DELL because it sucked so bad. Trust me. It looks all glamorous when you are looking at it on the internet, like nothing can go wrong.... When you get it you'll want to kill yourself. Also DELL Customer Service sucks balls since they are based in the Philippines or some shit and don't give a damn. If you ever have trouble call the American one.
Thats a shame Dell sucks in the US. In Australia Dell is absolutely awesome, any probs i've had they send out a techy the next day to fix it! Tiz a shame you don't get what dell should be over there
sidebar dashboard gadgets widgets?? come on windows switcher? application switcher? preview pane? quicklook? that search thing in the start menu? spotlight? time machine? shadow? they gotta turn off the photocopiers.
Windows XP and Vista still seems to run better on a Mac than on a PC. Ironic.
The only reason I use Windows is to play some games, allthough I could port them to Mac, but I'm too lazy. Gonna install Vista on mine though, but I'm no way in hell gonna buy it.
Not a bias comment at all. Can you see how slowly vista is running here? It runs 3 times faster on my computer, and this is the best macs got to offer, so stop your fanboyism
So you boot Vista in just below 10 seconds? Wow, that's impressive. You going for a world record?
That is far from the best of the best Macs have to offer, that looks like a "15 MacBook Pro and that's not even close to the best, it's the best low-end performance Mac.
change the power of a *nix decendent for microsoft windows garbage man or you are insane or you don't like to have decent system on your computer please..... windows on a mac sweet jesus not enven on a PC long live the real operative systems (*nix) ....

I love mac and VIsta too having these two operative systems in a common Laptop PC it's the most awesome thing, I wanna buy an Apple Macbook Pro but it is really expensive it's about 2000 euros in my contry here in MAcedonia, but I'll definitelly buy the laptop whatever it takes till this summer
wow! that boots faster than my dell with windows vista basic!! although i did upgrade from xp home edition, and i only have 768MB of ram.. i need a mac haha
It's caled Boot Camp. You can download a public beta of it from Apple. And the final version will be shipped with Leopard. I too am getting a Mac in a week, and I'm very excited.
I'm a windows user, so not really my field, but i would presume yes becasue its a different operating system with obviously different code, i dont think windows would recognise drivers designed for OSX
all who use mac know that windows vista is better so they try 2 show all the errors and fauls that windows have and make some big out of that, but they dont wanna show that errors anf fauls mac has. because it is to many. but any way mac suck.
Although i agree with this comment, not really the place to start the mac vs pc again, i myself are a windows user and have not really liked apple, so i really dont wanna see no vista is slow and bsod'y, but macs are expensive, slow, un upgradable etc.. so lets keep the peace
Yeah, in response to PoliticalAnalysis.I have a MacBook Pro and I am a college student...I had to install Xp on my MacBook Pro in order to run some required software for school that are not compatible with OS X.
Right, but why not run XP, as opposed to Vista. Vista is going to have flaws, and the interface is so similar to OS X, there's no reason to run Vista on bootcamp vs. XP....
I don't really understand the rationale behind running Windows Vista on a mac as it is? I love my macbook with OS X, and though I bootcamp Xp, I see no reason to run Vista, as it and OS X are strikingly similar...
i woyld recommend the macbook pro if you are thinking of doing alot at the same time or if ur thinking of gaming on it if not then just go for the mac book
Can you drag files between Mac OS X and Windows Vista? For example, if you wanted itunes on both Vista and Mac, could you drag the files you bought from the itunes music store between the operating systems?
No. It's one of the original MacBook Pros with Intel Core Duo (not Core 2 Duo). 2GHz, 2GB RAM.
No, can't drag files. Maybe with the future killer version of Parallels, but not today. Can't *write* to Vista's NTFS partition without 3rd party tools...yet.
Good point. 1) To show it works. 2) To drive Mac (hardware) sales up for people who want to run Vista. 3) Because I have a job. I support Windows users.
iSight camera, remote control...that all I can think of, due to drivers. Second Life doesn't detect the video correctly, so it doesn't want to run. Google Earth has some issues. Mostly 3D stuff.
Actually, I just downloaded the latest drivers from ATI and Google Earth works fine now (as does Chess Titans, which also had a 3D problem). Second Life now gets past "detecting hardware" but then crashes.
Strange, you'd assume that the drives would fix that. I installed Vista on parallels last night, as its... alright. Nothing great. Still feels like XP for me!
I think it has to do with OpenGL support in the ATI driver. If anyone can get Second Life to work under Vista with ATI drivers...please let me know.
Meanwhile, Parallels rocks! They are working on enhancements to "Parallels Desktop for Mac" that will really distinguish themselves from VMware (who are also awesome, but focused on portability of the VM). Watch for the next version of Parallels...it's gonna kick ass.
So, the latest version of Bootcamp has no problems with a Vista install? Are you pleased wtih the performance of how it runs on your MacBook Pro? What are the specs on your MacBook -- is it the Intel Core 2? How much ram? Thank you for posting -- very good! 5 Stars - Alfred
