  • It would be nice to see a demo with a nice distortion pedal in front of the clean channel.

  • Its cheap and its a tube amp and if I dont like the sound I can use a Preamp so it sounds like a good buy.

  • does this amp come with a footswitch ?

  • Loud enough to play in a band?

  • I own two of these half stacks. Fantastic amp!

  • I own two of these. FANTASTIC AMP!

  • the closed captions on this are hilarious as hell, also this dude kinda looks like Kenny Powers from eastbound and down

  • i heard this amp sounds like a jcm800 boosted by a tubescreamer.

  • I got this amp today, and altough I was lucky enough to get my hands on the last one in my local store and paid just approximately 200 dollars for it, I see know that i would definately be worth paying full price for! If your watching this vid you're probably interested of this amp. Only have one thing to say: Don't hesitate! It's an awesome awesome awesome sounding amp, perfect for your home or proffesional studio! and for the price, it's even more awesome!

  • This amp is on sale at Musikbörsen here in Sweden and I have ordered one, the ordinary price was 5700 SEK and now it is 1600 :D

  • If you leave the preamp volume low and turn up the master would it be a cleaner and louder sound?

  • @tubaeli93 Yes.

  • @tubaeli93 I think so.. Overdrive (as the name indicates) comes from overdriving the preamp, so if you keep the preamp volume low, the tone cleares up

  • i thought the boost button bypasses the tone stack. but in my version when the boost is triggered i can still use the bass/middle/treble controls.. is there something wrong with my amp?

  • sounds good the hard rock, clean and blues sound.. don't know why aot of people say it lacks bass and it is harsh in reviews.. will try it tomorrow. maybe it is just the speaker.. sine this demo is thr the line-out. seems like the perfect amp for me since i wanted a jtm-45 but it would be much to loud for me..

  • @GeekG i bought it and i can' get the blues sound out of it..will try different power tubes.. 5881 and kt-66 i hope this will help

  • @GeekG plug into the low gain channel, turn the preamp to 10, turn the master to 10, use the built in attenuator to controll the volume, use you volume knob andpicking to control you level of dirt. this gives a very henrixy, claptonesque, zeppeliny blues sound. also crank mid and treb addbass to taste. :)

  • does anybody know iff you can buy the powersponge attenuator seperately

  • @jimmyp73 you can get a variety of hotplates that do the same thing.

  • Great amp for it's price range!

  • why didn't he ever push the power section? doesn't this amp have a power soak on it? Isn't the beauty of a low wattage "studio" amp that you can have power tube compression without killing your ears or your mics?

  • was the first song supposed to be Spoonman :S?

  • Which Amp is better for JS/Andy Timmons/Steve Vai music?6505,Windsor or Classic 30?

  • Either the 3120 or the JSX.

  • classic 30 uis very good and windsor too but need some changes cz when u crank the volume the gain crank very much, and thats very bad cz u cnt get a clean loud sound

  • why do they always leave the reverb on on these tests, turn it off ,I want to hear the sound of the amp not the reverb

  • is this amp possilby good for old school metallica

    and co. ?

  • the blues tone really is great, the other tones were just ok for me... will have to try one with kt-66 in it myself

  • Hi , i have a problem with all peavey videos , i dont know why this happening i hope somebody could help , when i play their videos for example this one here , it gives me the sound only when he talks but when he plays the guitar the sound goes , there is no sound for the guitar in these videos , is it because youtube take them off?

  • It may be a setting like stereo/mono on your computer. When I watch the video I hear dude on the left side and geetar on the right.

  • It's because you most likely have a mono setup. I have the same problem, only when he talks, it's in my left ear (I use headphones to listen to demos) and when he plays, it's only on the right side. It's because peavey is a company of such audio experts.

  • you must have mono sound cus his voice is in the left speaker and the guitar is in the right

  • yo, it's because you're only getting one channel of the sound, just pan all your volume to either the left or the right whichever one works

  • thats becuase peavey made this vid in stereo look at you pan setting of you computer maby it's al switched to the left caus thats ware the voice come from .

  • yep

  • Does any1 know....Im Changing to Tung Sol 12ax7 gold tips,,and Tung Sol 6L6....are they better than the stock tubes??

  • Guitar and bass magsine gave this amp 18/20 for tone and overall value 20/20 and they thought it to be as good as handwired Marshalls. I got this amp and trust me this video doesn´t show the full power and quality of this amp, like Michael sais in the video "if this was all..." I only have the Master Volume at 1 and having the power attenuator working to, otherwise it´s to loud in my apartment so it will silence a 100w solid state amp :)

  • no gain knob?

  • thats the first volume nob

  • preamp would be your gain knob, I guess.

  • Is there a reason why the voiceover is panned full left and some of the the amp demos full right?

Nevertheless I tried it out and ended up buying it. Prise it from my cold dead hands ...

  • since these are being fazed out, what will peavey have to replace them? this was a good price for the amp, i have heard some negative waa waa about this amp but heck, everyone always mods their amps anyway.....for the money thought this would be good deal,

  • its funy wen he rolls his eyes from the "woman P_P " tone

  • i couldn't find infos about the "tube pack" he mentioned in the other video.. any idea? would love that and try different tubes for myself

  • i really like the amp.. just the colour and the name is an off-putter :) but this is the best amp in features.. even an attenuator and you can swap many different tubes, even kt-66 which i always wanted but almost no other amp can take them by factory.. i love the sound of this video.

  • is this amp loud enough for playing with a drummer?

  • Because it's tube i would say yes. You'll really be able to get a great tone from it too because you will have to crank it.

  • From what I heard both in a store and now on here these amps aren't great. I own two peavey amps and they are awesome. When I heard this in a store and didn't think a lot of it :(.

  • sounds great for the price, cant beat it

  • well, nice sound. Good review

  • is this a tube amp?

  • sure is

  • Is Peavey fazing these amps out? There aren't any at guitar centers in California and they aren't ordering any more. Just curious.

  • They're about to be discontinued, no more being produced so they wanna sell the ones out there. If your GC doesnt have any, you can probaly talk to somone and get them to order it at the store. You get no shipping cost this way, AND you can use one of the discount offers. Guitar Center has a 10% off cupon going on right now. I got my Windsor for 377 at GC by ordering at a GC. So Do It!

  • They are not discontinued. Independent dealers all over the country can get Windsor Studios or already have them.

  • Could i get black sabbath tone and distortion out of this amp?

  • you cant get a black sabbath sound on this by itself. Add a Metal Muff in front of it.

BTW If you need to play live, get the halfstack. On the halfstack, if you turn up the resonance and turn the texture control almost all the way down, with the metal muff it sounds very tony iommi

  • yes

  • Is that a music man guitar?

  • no its a Peavey HP...

  • peavy hp

  • It's a Peavey guitar, don't know which model.

  • its a peavey wolfgang...

  • i'd say its a music man axis, but its peavey demoing it so... ya peavey wofgang

  • Got me one of these... versatile.... sounds awesome with a Landmine distortion pedal plugged in the low gain input.... warm, non-grating distortion, sustain forever. Yes, this amp sounds great by itself and with pedals... also, it has an effects loop that you can send to another amp without losing the power amp and internal speaker capabilities with the Studio.... nice! Plug a phaser in the loop and funk out!

  • what would be better for a classic hair metal tone, this or a valveking?

  • windsor for hair metal tones. a lot of those guys used old marshalls, which is what this was voiced after.

  • can it connect to a cabinet?

  • yes

  • I've been on the fence about this amp for awhile, but this demo has put me over the fence with the WS. I've got a home-based recording studio, and have a few low-wattage amps. I'm just so impressed with the features that are packed into this box! Very, very, very cool! It's next on my list. I'm even picking this over a much more expensive low-wattage amp (about 5 times the price!).

  • Any chance of a demo when you get it?

  • No clean sound on this amp, I think.

    Just little cruchy like.

    But no clean.

  • That's a good reason for you to learn to use your guitar's volume knob.

  • I have to agree with this one...most pickups actually perform better with more power rolling into it with the volume rolled back...a lot of the greats do this. Not to mention when you are using the dynamics of your picking techniques you can utilize a deeper tone...SQUEEZING the notes out vs. letting them just hang out there. Of course, this is all personal preference though. =)

  • how can i get a Mark Knopfler sound? which amps would be good (combo/tube cheap)

  • And P.S. - I am endorsed by Peavey and had a Special - they're clean tone isn't that great, kind of thin as are most guitars with a Floyd type trem and a basswood body. Just something to keep in mind! They have a nice FAT driven tone though!

  • Quick Q for pvampmanager, I'm really interested in one of these but would love to hear some cleaner stuff played as well, any chance of some hi-q soundclips on the Peavey site like you have for the Valveking series?

    Cheers:)

  • There's a clean tone at 2:30, but if you're planning on using this on stage, you may want to think about a channel switching amp like the Valve King or Classic series. You can get a decent clean tone out of both Windsors, but not quickly enough for stage use I think. Is there a dealer close by that has one you can try? Write down those settings at 2:30 and give one a test drive. mds

  • That amp sounds great for 80s metal.

  • Hello Micheal,

I ordered one at Musik Produktiv in Germany in January this year. Why does it take so long for delivery?? ETA was May this year. Now it is September. Are there problems with the production?? But with the features and tone this amp is prommising, I hope I won't be disapointed when I receive it and it is worth waiting to get it. For the rest, great demo and tonework!!

  • To be honest, we had a 'run on the bank' so to speak with these. We are getting some in very shortly and you'll get it as soon as it makes it through channels. You won't be dissapointed. mds

  • i want one.........

  • This unit has the same Microphone simulated output as the MiniColossal and the JSX 412 cabinets. It's a very useful tool and sounds great! mds

  • Well, it sounds alright. I bet I can get great tones if I tweak with it a lot. This is going to be my next amp. It's on the way right now. Now when you have the recording output, you don't need a speaker simulator or what? I saw the JSX Mini Colossal video, and does the recording use the same kind of recording output as this one? Thanks for the really quick reply.

  • Was this demo recorded through the XLR recording output?
